I ordered some music entirely because of a 20% off code they sent to me as a new customer. The order was for €148. The first time I put in my credit card details there was a payment error. I tried again and it went through but I saw on the confirmation mail that the code had been removed and they'd charged me full price.
I'll have to initiate a chargeback via my bank.
Private equity (Francisco Partners) have turned everything they touch to garbage, and Sheetmusicplus / HalLeonard is no exception.
I immediately contacted them both via email and through their chatbot, asking them to either honor the code or cancel the order. They never responded and simply sent the order to me and charged me full price. I've written to them 7 times and they have been totally unresponsive for a week.
Buyer beware. This is a scam site. Buy sheet music for $1 (as I did) and get auto-subscribed at $10/mo thereafter. Same company (and rort) as Musescore.com. IMSLP is the real deal for musicians.
I wonder how many other people have been conned by their clever little discount sale button? I bought an item which shows the price of £3.73p in a bland yellow background. However there is a big red button which says buy for £3.37p and in tiny writing underneath (yeah the small print, I know!) it says and sign up for SMP subscription. well, I did, unknowingly and it has cost me an extra £9.99p. Well I hope it was worth it Mr Sheet music plus, because I wont be buying again which is a pity because I have bought many books over the years particularly when you were Musicroom.
I ordered two SATB choral pieces and received two books of solo trumpet music. I tried emailing two different addresses and got no response. I tried communicating with the chatbot, twice, and was told "a member of the team will contact you". That was not true. I tried phoning, and was directed by an automated message to the online support, which I had already tried. I tried posting a comment on SMP facebook page, which just got deleted, with no other response.
I tried looking for a way I could return the music, and was directed solely to the online help portal, which I had already tried, and where the chatbot wasn't responding.
If I could give zero stars, I would. It's not just bad customer service, they haven't even tried. Absolutely appalling.
They only sent out 2 of the three books I paid for. I have been trying their chat function for days and I am just being ignored. My emails are going ignored also. I would save yourself the stress and just use Amazon.
When I bought some physical sheet music, they added a free 7 day trial for a subscription without asking me if I wanted it. I had to log back in to cancel or they would have taken money from my account annually for a pointless delivery subscription. Proper scam, avoid.
They sent out my music quickly, but the courier left the package on my drive in the pouring rain and it was soaked through. I took photos, and the courier had photographic proof of their idiotic delivery, but multiple attempts to contact customer service failed - they just ignore me. I've sent several messages through their online chat and sent e-mails to two different e-mail addresses, but I get ignored. They don't have a phone number. Tomorrow I'll have to lodge a claim through my bank. Disappointing, especially given how quickly they dispatched it.
Edited to add: They then waited a week and suddenly, out of nowhere, charged me an extra £9.99 for a "subscription"?! I presume this is in tiny small print in their T&Cs.
Avoid this retailer.
I had tried to find sheet music in a desired key, on my usual website accounts without success. A google listing of the music, in the desired key led me by a link to the Sheet Music Plus website. As this company's website has been established for several years, I saw no problem in purchasing the score with my card details. There was no indication on the web page of any other promotion, no dialogue. Only after having made the purchase did I find in a follow up email, that I was on a 7 day free trial for ordering through the company after which I'd be charged each month. I didn't want this and wanted to be rid of it straight away. I couldn't reply to the 'no reply' message; I tried, during the next 7 days, between working hours, to terminate it. On the website, I couldn't find a customer services number or contact email, only a chatbot that turned out to be unsatisfactory. I have asked my bank to block any future attempts to take money from my account and they will open a dispute on the payment that is pending. Customers should have more control, more facility for dialogue, so that aggressive marketing doesn't pay - it should always depend on whether the customer explicitly gives permission or choses to withold it, that should be their right. Even if card details have been given, if permission to continue taking payments hasn't been given, the wonderful technology we have today should prevent it on behalf of the consumer.
Very naughty of them signing me up for membership that I didn’t want and taking money out of my account without my knowledge. Don’t be conned like I was. Absolute disgrace
Incorrect music received.
Followed instructions to request a return using the chatbot. No Reply
Emails sent. No reply.
Telephone recorded message which cuts off onc instructions are given to use the website.
No contact address on website.
Do nopt use this organisation. Customer service in non-existent.
I tried to cancel the subscription for 9.99€ per month from the site and all the site was working properly and ONLY the field of "subscription " had a technical issue !!!!!!
Scammers of course just to take the money from my card I will never bye again from this site I contacted my bank to cancel my digital copies of my card and I may be forced to cancel my card , what a mess !!!!!
Finally rhe company answered to my mails and rhey cancelled the subscription i am ok now but i will never buy again from this site i don’t consider it a serious procedure from a serious company
I bought a piece of sheet music and was surprised to find a subscription I hadn't asked for charged to my credit card. Terrible strategy! Very disappointed. I won't make any more purchases and won't recommend the service. Be careful with one-off purchases.
Do not trust, they are trying to subscribe you to something.
They silently added me to a subscription, never notified me about it, and now I lost 10 pounds on the basis of them being shady.
Clearly from comments below I am not the only one who bought sheet music once or twice and was then charged for automatic monthly renewal for many months. No refund. No easy way to cancel subscription. Be very careful. No one gets back to you and the only way to cancel now I guess is to go through my bank.
I ordered a score that my wife needed for singing with her choir and it duly arrived within a few days. So far, so good. Then, today, I was hit with a £9.99 "subscription" charge that I knew nothing about and did not authorise. When I Googled, "Is Sheet Music Plus a legitimate company ?" the result was that it is a "long standing company" but goes on to say numerous customers have been scammed with an unauthorised subscription charge That is also confirmed by further reports of that on Trustpilot. I have contacted my bank to request the pending payment is blocked . Avoid Sheet Music Plus like the plague or you are likely to get scammed. UPDATE:- Don't expect to get a reply from them, either - SIX of my emails to them were blocked !
Same practice that musescore use selling sheet music. You buy a piece of music and they sign you up for a subscription that you later become aware of. Will never buy from these 2 sites again.
I have been trying to buy music from this company for the past few days with no success. I seem to fail at the payment stage.
The main point is I have been trying to contact them about it for the last number of days and have received no reply whatsoever. Very poor customer service.
It was not clear at all that “buy with discount” meant you were signing up to a membership. This is actually a practice that has been banned in the EU because it was considered a scam. I immediately cancelled it when I realised and didn’t use any of the benefits, but I still couldn’t get a refund. You should really change this, it’s a very misleading and unfair practice.
I ordered 5 copies of a Beethoven choral piece...one arrived with a section torn out of it, so unusable...the returns policy is woeful and unusable and no contact email addresses or phone numbers given
I recently ordered something from here and they automatically signed me up for a monthly subscription. Very deceptive. Additionally getting in contact with them to get it sorted is incredibly difficult. Would not recommend.
