Months of broken refund promises after…

Months of broken refund promises after a medical emergency — appalling customer service

My experience with Qatar Airways has been exhausting, distressing and completely unacceptable.

I was unable to travel because of a serious medical emergency involving suspected ovarian cancer. I submitted my refund request on time and was told that my circumstances had been approved for a full refund.

From March through September, I repeatedly contacted Qatar Airways and was reassured that I would receive my money. In May, I was specifically told that my refund had been processed and would arrive within 28 days. That deadline passed with no payment.

What followed was months of chasing, hours on the phone and the same empty reassurances. I called several times a week, repeatedly explaining an already upsetting medical situation. I was told there were delays, that emails had been drafted but not sent, and that I should wait another 24 hours. Even speaking to managers failed to resolve anything.

After months of being told the refund was coming, I was then told it would not be possible. How can an airline tell a customer that a refund has been processed, give a payment deadline, repeatedly reassure them for months, and then reverse its position without taking responsibility for those assurances?

I did what I was asked to do and submitted my request on time. If Qatar Airways failed to process it correctly, I should not be left paying for that failure.

The lack of compassion, accountability and basic follow-through has been shocking. Having to chase my own money while dealing with a frightening medical situation added completely unnecessary stress.

Qatar Airways: I want a substantive response from someone who can resolve this, a written explanation of why I was repeatedly told my refund was approved and processed, and payment of the full refund I was promised. Another generic apology or instruction to contact the same customer service team is not a resolution.

Based on this experience, I would strongly warn anyone against relying on Qatar Airways’ refund assurances. The way this has been handled is disgraceful.

Absolutely unacceptable customer service.

I contacted Qatar Airways because I had a serious personal safety concern regarding transit through Doha. I was not simply asking to cancel my trip for convenience. I explained my situation clearly and asked whether an alternative routing, waiver, travel credit, or refund could be considered.

Instead of receiving meaningful assistance, I was repeatedly pushed back and forth between Qatar Airways and the third-party booking agency. Qatar Airways told me to contact the agency, while the agency explained that any exceptional waiver or authorization ultimately had to come from Qatar Airways.

This left me completely stuck in the middle, with nobody willing to take responsibility or provide a practical solution.

What frustrated me most was the lack of empathy. When a passenger raises a genuine safety concern, I would expect a major international airline to at least properly review the case rather than simply repeating fare rules and redirecting the customer elsewhere.

For a company that presents itself as a premium airline, this experience felt anything but premium. Poor communication, no ownership of the problem, and no meaningful attempt to help.

I would think very carefully before booking Qatar Airways again, especially through a third-party agency.

Wont recommend them even to my enemy

Would I recommend them? No — not even if the flight was free.

I want to share my experience honestly because I care about others having a safe, respectful journey — especially when you're already going through difficult health circumstances.

Throughout my travels with them, I found the service extremely disappointing. There was a real lack of empathy, basic kindness, and professionalism. Even when medical needs were clearly explained, it felt like no one cared, no one listened, and no one was willing to help. It was heartbreaking to realise that even when you're unwell or struggling, it makes no difference — the response is indifference.

It shouldn't matter if someone paid full price or not — every passenger deserves dignity, compassion, and help when they need it most. That basic humanity was missing here.

Please look after yourselves and your loved ones. Your health and peace of mind are worth more than any ticket.

Worst Qatar Checking Team at Hyderabad airport - Fraaz Ahmed Khan — Supervisor, Employee ID HYDF0003) and other staff members Kanal Kumar & Nithya Reddy

**My 20 Years of Trust in Qatar Airways Shattered by One Unacceptable Airport Experience**

After nearly **20 years of traveling with Qatar Airways**, I never imagined I would experience such an upsetting and humiliating situation at Hyderabad Airport.

On October 11, 2026, before boarding flight **QR501 to the United States**, I experienced what I believe was extremely unprofessional treatment by the check-in supervisor (Fraaz Ahmed Khan — Supervisor, Employee ID HYDF0003) and other staff members Kanal Kumar & Nithya Reddy.

What should have been a routine check-in turned into hours of unnecessary confrontation over cabin baggage. My concerns about queue management were not handled professionally, baggage restrictions were not clearly explained to my satisfaction, and I was subjected to repeated baggage-weight checks even after receiving my boarding pass.

The most disturbing part was the supervisor's reported statement that I would not be allowed to board, along with instructions I understood to be directed at stopping me from boarding. Thankfully, the flight in-charge, Mr. Ikran, intervened and helped resolve the situation.

I fully respect airline safety, security, and baggage policies. **My concern is not about following the rules; it is about how customers are treated while those rules are enforced.** Every passenger deserves consistent treatment, clear explanations, dignity, and respect.

I have submitted a formal complaint requesting a management investigation, a review of available CCTV and operational records, and an explanation of the repeated checks and reported attempt to stop my boarding.

After two decades of loyalty, this experience has seriously damaged my confidence in Qatar Airways. I am sharing my experience publicly because customer concerns deserve to be heard, investigated, and addressed—not dismissed.

I sincerely hope Qatar Airways senior management will investigate this incident fairly and take appropriate action if any misconduct is established.

**Qatar Airways — customer service must mean more than a brand name. It must be reflected in how every passenger is treated.**

I look forward to a meaningful response and accountability.

I had a very bad experience with qatar…

I had a very bad experience with qatar airways. I was traveling from Birmingham to jeddah. My layover time was 1 hour in doha airport but the plan landed late in Birmingham airport I missed my connection and my layover was extended to 8 hours. I have made the complain over the website and ask for the refund according to the UK laws I received the case number but almost a month has been passed but no one has contacted me yet. And the customer service team has no visibility on the case status. Such a pathetic airlines and poor customer service team they have.

I genuinely expected so much better…

I genuinely expected so much better from Qatar Airways, an airline recognised as one of the best in the world. Unfortunately, the way I was treated by the cabin crew was extremely disappointing and, frankly, unacceptable. Compared to my experiences with Singapore Airlines, the difference in service and hospitality was astonishing.

The cabin crew I encountered were rude, unwelcoming, and lacked basic courtesy when responding to simple questions. I understand that everyone can have a bad day, but when you work in the service industry, professionalism and basic respect towards passengers should be a minimum standard.

One particularly unpleasant experience occurred when I asked for milk. The air stewardess responded coldly, saying something along the lines of, “We don't have milk, but I will give you milk,” followed by a chuckle. I initially did not hear her clearly, so I politely asked her to repeat herself. Instead of responding patiently, her tone became even more unpleasant, and her facial expressions made me feel as though I had done something wrong simply by asking a question. When explaining the menu options, she spoke very quickly and chuckled again, accompanied by facial expressions that came across as dismissive and condescending.

Another incident occurred when the crew were serving snacks and drinks. I politely asked whether I could dispose of my previous plastic cup, and another staff member responded unhappily that I could not because there was no rubbish bag. The issue was not that they could not accommodate my request. I would have understood perfectly well if they had simply explained the situation politely. It was the attitude and manner in which they communicated that made the experience so unpleasant.

**The problem was never about not getting what I asked for. It was about how I was treated when I asked.** I am not expecting special treatment or for every request to be accommodated. I simply expect basic courtesy, respectful communication, and a welcoming attitude from the people representing the airline.

What made this experience particularly frustrating was the contrast between Qatar Airways' reputation and the actual hospitality I received. Singapore Airlines has given me far better experiences in terms of how its cabin crew communicate with and treat passengers. Good service is not just about serving meals and drinks. It is also about making passengers feel respected and comfortable throughout their journey.

Qatar Airways seriously needs to review its cabin crew's approach to customer service and provide further training in hospitality, communication, and professionalism. A prestigious reputation means very little if passengers are made to feel unwelcome over the simplest questions.

Personally, this experience has made me think twice about flying with Qatar Airways again. **If you are considering booking Qatar Airways based on its reputation alone, I would encourage you to think carefully and consider your alternatives.** My experience with Singapore Airlines has been significantly better, and I would much rather fly with an airline where basic courtesy is not something passengers have to hope for.

An airline can be world-renowned, but that does not excuse rude behaviour from its staff. This was a thoroughly disappointing experience, and I hope Qatar Airways takes feedback like this seriously.

And just to be clear, this is not a promotion for Singapore Airlines. I’m simply sharing my genuine experience. If you want to understand the difference in service for yourself, you can book a flight and experience it firsthand. Sometimes, you really have to experience it yourself to understand what I mean. 🙂

I travelled with Qatar Airways on 11…

I travelled with Qatar Airways on 11 October 2026 from London Heathrow (LHR) to Trivandrum (TRV), with a scheduled connection in Doha.

Our original itinerary was:

LHR → Doha: 9:30 AM departure, arriving at 6:15 PM
Doha → TRV: 7:20 PM departure, arriving at 2:15 AM

Boarding started around 9:15 AM, but the flight did not depart until approximately 10:05 AM. We eventually arrived in Doha around 6:30 PM, leaving very little time for our connecting flight.

We were then informed by the staff that our original connection could not be accommodated and that they had arranged a completely different and much longer route for us: Doha → Muscat → Trivandrum, departing Doha at 10:15 PM.

I explained to the staff that the delay was not caused by us and that being re-routed through another country would make the journey much longer and extremely stressful. Unfortunately, we were simply told that this was the only option they could offer.

This was a very disappointing experience, especially considering that we had booked a direct connecting itinerary through Doha and had planned our journey accordingly. A delay caused by the airline should not result in passengers being made to take such a lengthy and inconvenient alternative route without better assistance or consideration.

Based on my experience, I would honestly say this was one of the worst airline travel experiences I have had. I expected much better service and customer support from Qatar Airways. I hope the airline takes situations like this seriously and improves the way it handles passengers affected by delays and missed connections.

This is probably the worst service

I select the flights and enter all the required details, only to be told afterward that one of the flights is unavailable.
This is probably the worst service I’ve encountered in the last 10 years! I haven't been able to buy tickets for half the day now!!!

Nightmare flight with Qatar Airways

I flew Adelaide–Doha–Copenhagen–Wrocław with Qatar Airways, travelling with my young daughter. Our Doha flight was delayed and we missed the onward connection in Copenhagen. Qatar rebooked us via Warsaw with a 1-hour connection that could not be completed, and the ticket was refused at the gate.

For the next 20+ hours no Qatar staff were present at the airport. I called their hotline several times asking for a hotel or a new flight and was told they were "waiting for confirmation". Late at night, with my child asleep in my arms, it was airport security, not Qatar, who helped me find a hotel, which I paid for myself. I was only given a new ticket the next afternoon, and I was charged excess baggage that wouldn't have applied on the original booking.

Qatar has now refused to reimburse any of these costs, offering only a non-refundable voucher. I have escalated to the Danish authority. If you've had a similar experience, I'd like to hear it. @QatarAirways

Extremely Disappointing Experience with…

Extremely Disappointing Experience with Qatar Airways

My experience with Qatar Airways has been extremely disappointing. Due to a medical condition, I contacted customer service and requested to change both my flight and my friend’s flight so we could travel together. I offered to provide all my medical reports as evidence. If changing the flights was not possible, I also asked for assistance because I was struggling physically and could not lift or carry heavy luggage.

I was told that assistance could not help me with what I needed and that I would have to pay for the flight change, despite three additional seats being available on the alternative flight. The reason given was that I had not reported feeling unwell during the original flight.

I was then told to wait and see whether Qatar Airways cancelled my current flight, as only then might it be possible to transfer me to the alternative flight.

Now I am on the plane feeling unwell, looking around at the many empty seats, including the seat right next to me. It is incredibly frustrating to be in this situation after asking for help, offering medical documentation, and being told that I had to pay or simply wait for a possible cancellation.

I expected compassion, flexibility, and professional customer service from a premium airline. Instead, I felt ignored and unsupported when I genuinely needed help.

This experience has seriously damaged my trust in Qatar Airways. The way my medical situation was handled was stressful, disappointing, and far below my expectations. I would not recommend Qatar Airways to anyone expecting understanding and reliable support when facing unexpected medical difficulties.

Booking confirmed - no ticket at airport

I booked flights from London to Zanzibar in November 2025 for an October 2026 flight.
I spent so much time researching the BA / Qatar linking as I am a BA gold member. I booked the flights using a combination of Avios and Cash. I received a booking confirmation email.
Nearly a year later, I arrive at the airport so excited for a once-in-a-lifetime trip as my friend is getting married in Zanzibar and I’ve booked a safari beforehand.
At the desk - they advise there was a glitch with the payment, and as the payment didn’t go through I don’t actually have a ticket.
I showed them my confirmation, checked my emails through Spam and junk - and I had absolutely nothing from them.
Nothing except my booking confirmation with a reference, seats chosen, and my card details shown.
They told me that if I hadn’t seen the funds come out of the statement that month I would have released I didn’t have a ticket.
I did not check to make sure someone had charged me (hands up) when I had a booking confirmation and had spent so much extensive time:
Qatar said they would happily help me book a flight for that day, but nothing they could do.
So I had to pay same day full price for a ticket because Qatar had never sent me a cancellation or any notification.
If there was a payment error I would have absolutely fixed it in November 2025 to ensure the flight was sorted.
I rang customer service as well - nothing they could do.
Qatar offered no form of “we’re so sorry this happened so we can try and discount your ticket - nothing.”
I sat there and got out my laptop and booked an Emirates flights later that day.

A shocking experience with Qatar…

A shocking experience with Qatar Airways. Never have I felt so abandoned by an airline.

What should have been a simple journey from Oman to Lebanon turned into an almost 72-hour ordeal.

My original flight was canceled WITHOUT ANY NOTIFICATION. I arrived at Muscat Airport only to discover the cancellation. No hotel, transportation or assistance was offered. Traveling alone, I paid for everything myself and spent almost two hours trying to reach customer service.

The following day, I arrived in Doha and literally sprinted through the airport, despite painful blisters, to catch my Beirut connection.

I MADE IT TO THE GATE WHILE AT LEAST 30 PASSENGERS WERE STILL BOARDING.

Yet Qatar Airways refused to let me board because they had already assumed my incoming flight would be late and removed me from the passenger list.

I was standing there, with an assigned seat, watching other passengers board MY flight.

But the worst part was the treatment by the gate staff.

I repeatedly explained that I was a single mother trying desperately to get home to my children, whose childcare arrangements had already been extended because of the previous cancellation.

Instead of helping, the agents simply STOPPED SPEAKING TO ME. They ignored my questions, refused to escalate the situation and offered absolutely no solutions while I watched my flight depart.

I became so overwhelmed that I broke down crying. Their response? They called airport security.

Only after security became involved did an airport representative named Victoria finally step in, treat me like a human being and arrange an alternative journey through Amman. By then, an opportunity to take an earlier flight had apparently been lost.

I understand that cancellations and delays happen. But abandoning passengers, refusing to communicate and treating a distressed mother with such indifference is unacceptable.

Qatar Airways, your staff turned an already difficult travel disruption into a humiliating and emotionally exhausting experience.

I have never felt so helpless or so poorly treated by an airline. This experience has completely destroyed my confidence in Qatar Airways.

The True Meaning of Excellence and…

The True Meaning of Excellence and Honesty: They Recovered My Wife's Jewelry!

I frequently fly the Miami to Dubai route (with a layover in Doha), and on September 2nd, something happened that filled me with distress. I was carrying a beautiful and expensive yellow diamond set belonging to my wife to have some details fixed. Upon arriving at my destination in Dubai, I realized I had lost it. I almost went crazy, more than for its high monetary value, because of the deep emotional significance it holds for us. I filed a lost item report immediately.

To my surprise, I received an email from the airline stating they seemed to have found an item matching my description. On my way back to Miami on September 30th, I went to the Qatar Airways office at the Doha airport and, what a joy, they had it!

I want the world to know and to reaffirm the reason why I always choose to fly with Qatar. Beyond their excellent airport service, impeccable onboard attention, call center efficiency, and superior food quality, what makes them unique is their culture. They genuinely care that everyone in the operation understands the importance of doing their job well and always going the "extra mile."

I congratulate the entire organization for their honesty and empathy, and His Highness, who had the great vision to found this airline that represents true luxury and human service. You have a loyal customer for life!

Thieves

I used to like them... until they completely scammed me - they just wrote to tell me one day that my flight was canceled, and since then, no communication from them, no refund, and no response whatsoever six months later to any of my requests for a refund.

Honestly, if there was any justice, they'd not be a big airline business, rather, they'd just be in jail.

Worst customer service

Worst customer service. Booked tickets for my parents and sister. By mistake, I put my daughter's first name instead of my sisters on one of the ticket. Realised immediately after payment and contacted them. Made to run around for 2 days and then told that I can't make a change of name and I have to cancel and rebook the ticket. Costed me 30% of the ticket value to cancel. They could not give me a voucher either because it would be under the incorrect name. Worst customer service ever. Never using Qatar.
