Sellers do not seem to be vetted on Etsy, twice now over the years I have not received the item I purchased, takes a long time to report a problem and receive a refund. Won’t be using Etsy again, poor poor service! Avoid!!!

Impossible to make a complaint or get your money back on two occasions. TheGemsTerra say they issued a refund and it was one third of what I was charged. I provided the seller with proof of payment and they deny it. The seller then closes the case and it is impossible to get my full refund. Awful service. Avoid at all costs unless you are happy to pay full price for orders you never receive. Scam artists.

If only there was a half star! What a appalling service, I am just glad I realised how bad this platform is to sell on quite quickly so only wasted £25 trying it.

Listing items could be far easier, it's so much more complicated than it needs to be, and the the search setup is ridiculous to say the least, you'd never find your own item after listing it...

Do yourself a favour and find any other system to sell your stuff on.

I ran a small personalised engraving shop on Etsy, and it was suspended without any specific explanation. After I appealed, I was told the account was linked to another shop that is no longer eligible. I believe the link comes from living in the same house as a family member who ran a separate shop. We are separate people with separate names, bank accounts and tax details.

Etsy would not say what information connected the accounts, and its final reply said that all replies would be closed. I cannot sign in to my account, my appeal page shows as closed, and I have no way to give more information or ask for a human review. I have no bad reviews and I followed the Star Seller requirements, including sending videos of my engraving process.

I understand platforms need to prevent abuse, but a small business that depends on Etsy deserves a clear reason and a real way to respond, not an automated decision with no route to challenge it. This has cost me my main sales channel.

I never had a problem before with Etsy until now, all i wanted was to write a good review about something I bought and couldn't get into my account so I contacted them. I wanted an email rather than code, they sent a code, when i tried again I eventually got an email requesting verification of myself and that's when it goes wrong, everything is undeliverable, they send me messages which I can't respond to except raise another request. I have done this now 4 times over the week, I've explained it 4 times and have got nowhere, I thought Etsy was okay but clearly something is wrong with their so called customer services, then I looked on trustpilot, wow, I've never seen so many complaints.
If I could give them a negative star I would.

I would be very cautious using Etsy, I had an order with a seller, chased them twice about delivery. Both times told this had been sorted. Etsy has not helped at all. May as well thrown the money down the drain. I won’t use them again.

Niece bought a custom printed cap for their grandads birthday. The cap arrived over a week after it was meant to and the cap was nothing like the photos. The print was terrible and flaky, the cap was the cheapest I had ever seen and felt like it was made from just cardboard and paper.
Tried resolving via email and didn't get a reply. We only got a reply from seller after we got in touch via our etsy account.
I used to buy off Etsy to support small biz and artists but it's saturated with drop shipping companies and AI slop.
They don't care about either seller or buyer. I prefer to use Folksy now.

Was a seller for over ten years and they deleted my shop in one email due to a product violation even tho there are thousands of other sellers selling the exact same thing. Whenever I have tried to query it or ask for help all
I have dealt with is AI robots for six months I had a business for ten years then it all gone it one email it has ruined my whole year thanks Etsy

SCAM SCAM SCAM Just been scammed on two orders - one only 1/10th of what was paid for arrived - second order did not arrive at all - both turkey based sellers. Will never use etsy again - its obviously degenerated into a cesspit of thievery and frad

Ordered a picture from etsy for a present and wanted to have the measurements so that I could order a frame to fit.
It was actually impossible to get the details of my order from etsy as, because I had placed the order as a 'guest', they kept asking me to sign in and when i tried to sign in, they said i didn't have an account. They then said contact the seller, but when I tried to do that, guess what, they told me to sign in to etsy, but I couldn't because I didn't have an account, so I was stuck in an infinite loop of frustration with no way out!
Considering that I had bought the item from them, I should be able to obtain the size details, but etsy absolutely refused to let me have access to my own order!
Consequently, I will never use etsy again as life is too short to have to put up with this sort of pedantic, inflexible and dreadful customer service.

Absolute scammers you pay the £14 fee to set up. The app is terrible takes forever to figure out how to upload items, after a couple of days Esty start taking money out of your account for monthly fees and you have to pay them before you close your account. Avoid at all costs another scam hiding behind company name.

Another company that sells fakes especially watches, they just dont care.

I wouldn't even give it 1 star, but you can't write a review without. I have profound dissatisfaction regarding customer service (there isn't any), the widespread difficulties in making contact with anyone (impossible - just sent round in circles). Constantly changing delivery dates provided, one message saying "delivered", the next that delivery would be in the next 3 days. Had been trying to buy a brooch from BoozyBarkers as a present. Now struggling to obtain a refund and not too hopeful. Will not be buying anything through Etsy ever again. Catherine H

I made a purchase on Etsy on August 20th. The seller had no reviews as yet, they were new to Etsy and were showing only 4 purchases made. But I thought I was safe as I had Etsy buyers protection. I was supposed to receive my purchase between the 2nd and 8th September. My purchase never arrived. The seller promised a refund, that never arrived either. Etsy will not honour the buyers protection as I have contacted the payment provider ( Klarna ) to pause my payments -my purchase was over £200 and I did not want to continue paying for something that I DID NOT receive. Etsy say I now have to deal with Klarna - Klarna tell me to go back to Etsy. Etsy WILL not even confirm to Klarna that I should be refunded. Etsy have now removed the seller from their site. Who was now showing 40 reviews and was recently showing 4 other reviews complaining of non receipt of items. I have now gone to my bank. Don’t be taken in by Etsy payment protection - it does not exist when you need it!!!
I will NEVER use Etsy again . Please think carefully before making a purchase on Etsy especially a high value one, if you do have a problem it really won’t be easy to get your money back!!!!

I was very disappointed, put in order for dash diet, it came up something went wrong try again, which I did and went through . When I looked at my credit card they had taken 2 lots of money £10 instead of £5 they should have known I would not want to download 2 of the same thing, disgusted

Try to Oder a silk scarf priced at £26 from Malaysia when shipping was added it became to £38. Used PayPal to pay when a warning came up that the price can increase to £77 when shipping and taxes are added. 😳. Stopped my purchase right there. Be aware!

Ordered an item from a seller which turned out to be too poor to use. Seller refused to accept it back, so I have to spend an hour messing about with a return and paying for the postage. Just not worth it.
Not worth spending time taking to Etsy about it either.
The goods will go straight to landfill, and I'll just stick to Amazon from now on.

Delivery takes too long, weeks rather than days. The website doesn't work, no list of orders placed. Asking for help just refers you back to the website, so you just have to sit and wait with your fingers crossed. The goods when they arrived were fine, exactly as ordered, but I think I'll stick to Amazon in future.

As a seller, I reported a case of buyer harassment — a customer who admitted to damaging an item herself, then sent abusive/profane messages and threats, and left a misleading review as retaliation. I was advised to mark her messages as spam, and they later disappeared from that folder entirely. Etsy Trust & Safety has sent the same automated 'has this been resolved?' template three times over more than a month, with zero human follow-up. Case ref #25978504. It's clear seller support requests are not being genuinely reviewed
