I used them because Another Provider had a promotion through Trainpal for a Railcard. To activate I booked a simple close train trip with them and they messed it up, tried to charge a lot more than the website said for the service clicked, and sell me much more than I had chosen - and when I caught it and asked their bot and Cust Serv got no where. I sorted things out by myself at the station, but I would never use them on their own to book anything.

I used to have another app when someone has introduced TrainPal. No booking fees with better features than competitors. Updates are very timely. I suggest that Train companies should give authority to websites like TrainPal to deal the delayed repay claims. It is not straightforward claims.

People reading this, don’t think, “oh look, TrainPal have resolved all these problems” because that’s just for show. They are lying and talking BS.
I Contacted the support team to basically be told to do one. No chance of a refund for a train I didn’t catch robbing bastards
I bought train tickets costing £17.80
On the morning of this journey, the client I was travelling to meet cancelled. So therefore I no longer need to take the train. TrainPal flat out say they are non refundable which makes absolutely no sense!
The tickets are not going to be used. I’ve actually been robbed by a scumbag company.
It’s like someone walked up to me, took my wallet and money and then gave me a real hard slap round the face just to make sure I was aware
I’ll try the bank and get my money back from them
DISGUSTING!

We requested a refund for our train tickets due to train cancellation. It was refused. Our original journey was a return trip from London to Liverpool Lime Street with a stop at Birmingham New Street. The second leg of our journey (Birmingham New Street to Liverpool Lime Street) was cancelled due to wire problems (and the subsequent two trains were also cancelled). Any delay would be more than 2 hours at least. We did not go to Liverpool as the delay would be more than 2 hours at least and we would have missed our event. We had to return to London from Birmingham New Street. Trainpal customer service told us to contact LNR for refund. But LNR in turn asked us to contact the actual train operator, Avanti West Coast. Avanti replied that we had to ask the retailer i.e. Trainpal to refund because the tickets were not bought from them directly. We are now really caught in the middle. We tried the chat on Trainpal apps and they said our tickets were consumed because we took the first leg of train. But we could not complete our journey without the second leg!! They sold a through ticket. This should not be a reason to refuse refund.

Easy App and never have any issues. Prices are competitive.

Bought a return ticket for a one day trip. The TrainPal app randomly allocated the return date more than a month in the future. Only became apparent when the ticket was scanned at the station barrier. Had to buy a single to get home. TrainPal refused to refund the wrongly dated return portion of the additional single.
As a small extra gripe, the TrainPal chat bot is incredibly annoying and frustrating to try and navigate.
Will be using Trainline in future.

Started using TrainPal as offered cheaper train tickets. Lulled me in! Four weeks later, the daily train rate has increased by about £12 a day. I’m no better off so switching back to SE Trains app

Booking Gave me seat reservation option which I selected. I like to face forwards on the direction of travel. When the ticket came through there is no seat allocation. I have been mis-sold these tickets and also wasted/lost a silly amount of time on customer service line. Not quick. Not convenient and not sold as described. Avoid
Generic response below. I tried that already. Useless

I don't understand why nearly all tickets are advanced. It means that if for any reason I have to cancel late then I can't get my money back(just lost another £34 because of this).Let's face it train companies are overselling anyhow as there are not enough seats available for the number of tickets sold. The whole system is wrong.

Ripped off for over £40 for weekly train ticket. Logged on to my account and was told no bookings activate. Chased up with their senior manager and was told issue was not on their side. Now lost over £40 which I won't get back. Stay clear of them is my advice. Just received email back saying here are agents contact details. They obviously didn't properly read my review as I said senior had already made a decision regarding not giving me a refund!
