Unnecessary Complexity

Complexity of booking process was very annoying. I wanted to book flights. I was bombarded with 'suggestions' for add-ons which I knew well in advance I didn't want or need.

I invested for my daughter when she was…

I invested for my daughter when she was very young. The policy was kept until she was 18. Very poor investment performance caused partly by very high fees. When we asked for details of the performance we were told we had had the benefit of life assurance - for a child !! Steer well clear.

Hi Gerry, we are sorry to learn you are disappointed at the return on your child’s investment. You don’t say how long your investment was for but for a policy taken out 18 years ago for a child that matured this April, a £25 a month investment would have returned £8,339. This represents an annual return of 4.6%. Past performance is not a guide to future performance. Yes, there is an element of life cover in a Child Bond but the charge for this is not onerous. While we still offer the Child Bond as an investment, most of our customers now choose to invest for their children in our stocks and shares Junior ISA (which was introduced by the Government in 2011). This is a a lower charging investment and does not include life cover.
