Excellent After-Sales Support from Sena Europe!

Excellent After-Sales Support from Sena Europe!
I bought a Sena 60S Evo from a UK retailer, but the device was defective out of the box. When the retailer ignored my emails, I contacted Sena Europe GmbH directly.
Their customer service team was incredibly responsive and helpful. After I provided the invoice and serial number, they quickly processed everything and found a flexible solution to send me a replacement. Sena truly stood behind their product when the retailer failed to help. Big thanks to the support team!

Spare yourself the trouble!

A friend gave me a pair of SMH-10 helmet communication devices. They wouldn't connect to either of my Samsung phones. They were not recognized by the Sena app to try and upgrade the firmware. It is a long standing issue if you search online that these units are very problematic. I eventually reached out to Sena and they were kind enough to have me return both units under warranty to have them checked out. Leading up to this I had to go through a series of procedures to verify the units were not working properly prior to sending them in for repairs. Sena did replace 1 of the units prior to returning them both to me - an older unit than I had originally in my possesion. Neither unit will connect to any of my or my friends phones. I have now lost months of time being able to communicate with my wife or friends while riding. Sena has assumed a posture of "We've done all we can and that's all your gonna get". I have 2 communication devices that don't work and will probably never work. Sena has failed on many levels in addressing this matter. They will lead you on with diagnosis after diagnosis wasting valuable time trying to distract you into believing their equipment will actually work some day. Do yourself a great favor and just buy a competitors unit - even if it doesn't have all the features Sena touts. Better to have a unit that actually works than the heartache of dealing with warranty staff that will never really address a problem if you end up having a problem.

Sena 60X skins

I was extremely excited to get the Sena 60X, and while the actual functions work well, I am very disappointed in the build quality.

On my VERY FIRST RIDE, the outer skin/cover came off the unit. Thankfully, the magnet held and I didn’t lose the entire device.

Now the screws are exposed, which has me concerned about rust and long-term durability, and the unit honestly looks terrible without the cover. For a premium-priced product, this should absolutely not happen after one ride.

What makes this even more frustrating is that Sena does not sell the skins/covers separately. So a cosmetic piece that apparently can come off easily cannot simply be replaced.

Sena needs to either improve how these skins are secured or make replacement skins available for purchase. Customers should not be left with an exposed, ugly unit after one ride because of a part they cannot replace.

The technology may be great, but the durability and lack of replacement parts are extremely disappointing.

Excellent warranty service and customer support

I had an issue with my Sena 10S after about a year of normal use. The unit broke and could not be connected to the helmet unit. I bought it at TradeInn, but they did not respond and later even denied the claim.

I contacted Sena directly, and I have to say that I am very impressed with how professionally and quickly they handled my warranty claim. The communication was clear, they asked for the necessary information and proof of purchase, and they arranged a replacement unit in advance.

Even better, Sena covers the return shipping costs and provided a straightforward UPS return procedure. The support team was friendly, helpful and responsive throughout the entire process.

Of course, it is disappointing when a product fails, but the way Sena handled the problem really makes a difference. They stood behind their product and honored the warranty without making the process unnecessarily difficult.

Very happy with the customer service and warranty support. Thank you, Sena!

Think Twice Before Buying Sena - Very Disappointing After-Sales Support

I am extremely disappointed with Sena’s after-sales support.

I purchased a Sena OUTRUSH helmet and, apart from the battery issue, the helmet itself is still functional. Unfortunately, the battery stopped holding a charge. The helmet charges normally, but within about a minute of turning it on, it reports “Low Battery” and shuts down.

I contacted Sena support and followed all of their troubleshooting instructions, including the fault reset and factory reset. Nothing resolved the problem.

After escalating the issue, Sena confirmed that the OUTRUSH uses a custom battery that is no longer manufactured and cannot be purchased from Sena. They also confirmed that Sena does not provide battery replacement or battery replacement services.

I was then offered 25% off a new Sena helmet.

Before spending more money, I asked a very reasonable question: What happens when the battery in the new helmet eventually fails?

The answer was concerning. Sena confirmed that they cannot guarantee the availability of replacement batteries or repair services even for their newer models.

This is the part I believe every potential Sena customer should know before spending several hundred dollars on one of their products.

A battery is a consumable component. If a battery eventually fails and the manufacturer doesn’t provide a replacement or repair service, an otherwise perfectly functional helmet can effectively become unusable.

I was also later directed toward the SMH10R, an older Sena product that has a replaceable battery pack. That made the situation even more frustrating. If Sena can provide a replaceable battery on one product, why isn’t there a supported battery replacement option for the OUTRUSH?

To be fair, the customer-service representatives I dealt with were polite and responsive. My issue is with Sena’s product support policy and long-term serviceability, not with the individual representatives.

My advice to anyone considering buying a Sena helmet:

Think carefully before you buy.

Don’t just look at the features, communication range, Bluetooth/Mesh capabilities, or the price. Ask Sena before purchasing what happens when the battery eventually fails and whether a replacement battery and professional replacement service will actually be available.

I personally would not spend several hundred dollars on another Sena helmet when the manufacturer cannot assure me that I will be able to replace the battery in the future.

I am sharing this review because I wish I had known about this limitation before purchasing my OUTRUSH.

Potential buyers should consider this carefully before making their purchase.

I've had 2 Sena Impulse helmets fail…

I've had 2 Sena Impulse helmets fail within 2 years. I'm not getting any help from Sena. I've used their other products in the past which worked well. A group that I ride with bought 10 of these and they've never worked correctly since new. There were always several people that couldn't communicate via mesh on any given day. We'd spend half our evenings trying to make them all connect. They are pure garbage imho. The only customer service I've been able to get so far is a copy of a page from the manual which doesn't work. It took me about 10 emails to get that. They weaseled out on the warranty by saying that the store where I bought my brand new helmet wasn't an approved dealer. If you're going to buy anything of theirs, and want a warranty, to have to go to their site and find an approved dealer first.

Sena helmets not compatible

If you are going to purchase one of their helmets, keep this in mind

The company in their infinite wisdom has created multiple technologies that do not communicate with each other. In other words, you could buy one of their new helmets with MESH3 technology after being a loyal customer, and find out that you cannot connect the two helmets.

This is a deliberate way of making you purchase the newer product. This is not an oversight. Their engineers could have easily developed a way using the Bluetooth technology that is inherent in both helmets to connect an intercom type system. Instead, the two helmets are not compatible, and the primary purpose of the smart helmet is to be able to communicate with other riders or a rider on your own motorcycle who sits behind you.

I’ve said this in many other reviews on other products. It’s a new term. I call it business narcissism. Where selling your product becomes about the business and not the customer. Where the business comes first above the customer and it has proliferated across the country. Almost gleefully at times.

I am finding this everywhere I go. The business comes first the customer comes last. Too bad for you, suck it up.

Fooled me once!

Fool me once, shame one you. NEVER, EVER AGAIN. Expensive garbage that doesn't last has become the norm nowadays, and this company's products fits comfortably into that category. My $300 SRL was a couple of weeks out of warranty when the boom mic stopped working. "It's a non-repairable item, unfortunately there's nothing we can do. But our newer, more expensive SRL model has a replaceable boom, you can buy it at our vendor". WRONG ANSWER!!! Best of luck, you're going to need it ✌️

Sena Phantom: A Safety Warning from a 20-Year Veteran Rider

Sena Phantom: A Safety Warning from a 20-Year Veteran Rider
"Hi everyone. You’ve probably seen the glowing reviews for this helmet, but I need you to hear the reality from a rider’s perspective. I’ve been riding for 20 years and have worn countless helmets. My size has always been a Medium, and I always choose a snug fit because I know padding compresses over time.
I was originally planning to buy an Arai Quantic with a high-end intercom, but for some reason, I decided to go with this 'all-in-one' solution. As they say, it seemed 'too good to be true.'
About a month ago, I went to Motomax in Hasanpaşa, tried on the Medium floor model, and it fit perfectly. I bought a brand-new, boxed unit and took it home. However, the new helmet felt significantly tighter. Even after 20 days of use and wearing it at home for 15 minutes daily to 'break it in,' the padding never gave way. Instead, the pressure was so intense it caused painful sores and irritation inside my cheeks, forcing me to stop using it.
Why did this happen?
When I inspected the helmet, I discovered something I have never seen in two decades of riding: The 'Hard Internal Chassis.'
Underneath a very thin layer of cheek padding, there is a 2cm thick, rock-hard plastic honeycomb structure on both sides. This part is so rigid that when I tap it with the handle of a screwdriver, it makes a 'thump' sound like hitting a solid wall. In a standard helmet, this area contains only foam or sponge. In the Sena Phantom, this hard plastic prevents the helmet from conforming to your head and, more importantly, poses a fatal risk in the event of an accident.
People keep pointing to DOT and ECE 22.06 certifications. But let’s be logical: How can a helmet with such a hard internal structure directly against the skull pass these safety tests? It defies common sense. Either the testing process is flawed, or the units sent for testing differ from those sold to the public. You don’t even see this kind of dangerous design in a $100 budget helmet.
I contacted Motomax customer service, but they dismissed my concerns, refusing even a size exchange because the helmet had been "worn." How else was I supposed to discover a hidden manufacturing defect? I have received a 3-day medical report from the hospital due to the wounds caused by this structure.
As a result of this severe negligence regarding international safety standards, formal international legal and federal proceedings have officially begun. An official product safety complaint has been successfully processed by the United States Government:
NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) Case Status: ACTIVE
Official ODI Tracking Number: 11738591
Sena Global Legal Team, you can now access your official ODI database to review the specific case details and technical defect trends associated with this tracking number. The brand-new helmet is safely preserved in pristine condition for official laboratory impact testing by federal investigators. Official ministry investigations via CIMER are running parallel.
Ride safe, and don't trust your life to a marketing brochure. The countdown is on.

Sena 50c purchased as I wanted a camera…

Sena 50c purchased as I wanted a camera and as I ride in a group wanted the extended mesh intercom. My first issue was that the Wi-Fi cable did connect to my Android mobile but refused to pair with the router. I found out that if the Wi-Fi does not have internet, as in the case of the Sena Wi-Fi cable version 13 of Android will not work unless a setting is change to connect to Wi-Fi with no internet. The camera is hit and miss as 50% of the recordings cannot be replayed on a Windows PC. They show error in file format. The mesh intercom is good providing the group are very close within 100 mts and the are no rocks between. I ride in Cyprus and the the best roads are thru the mountains the mesh is hardly usable when another rider is round a corner. The voice commands looked a real good idea but these do not work very well either. The hey sena works better than the hey google. The sound quality with music and FM radio is very good. I contacted European support in Germany and they are not very helpful. I might try calling the USA support to see if they are better. All in all given my experience I would not recommend spending money on a Sena 50c it really does not work well at all.

Worst Warranty & No Help

I used the helmet about 30 times over slightly more than the warranty period which is only 2 years. They said sorry we won't help you. The battery will not take a charge after only 30 charges. They are unwilling to help in any way. Stay far away from this product.

Sena Phantom warranty approved — replacement still not shipped after 30+ days

I’m posting this for awareness, not to vent.

I purchased a Sena Phantom helmet that developed a confirmed hardware defect within the first two weeks (non-functional controls). I followed Sena’s warranty process exactly and provided all requested documentation promptly.

Sena approved a warranty replacement over 30 days ago. Since then, the experience has been heavy on process and light on execution. While a replacement order has now been created, the helmet has still not shipped, no tracking has been provided, and requests for a clear shipping timeline and expedited handling have gone unanswered.

For clarity: the authorized dealer has been responsive and professional throughout. The delay is entirely on Sena’s fulfillment and communication after approval.

Buyers should be aware that warranty approval does not currently appear to translate into timely delivery.

There really is no repair for these …

There really is no repair for these. Service only had me reload the firmware which I had already done On mine mesh intercom stopped working on my 30 K and they told me there was no repair. It lasted barely 4 years and service was no help at all. All they wanted was to sell me another one. My club uses them, but we do have constant problems. Besides the product being poor it was very disappointing to see that Sena service was so bad and their answer was your unit is junk and that’s too bad.
