We are looking for an alternative for Revolut (ridicules requirements, becoming expensive), we tried Wise (endless bot conversations than later rejected for what?), than we thought, let's try something "European". Maybe they will accept to onboard a legitimate company. Appears not, after 2 weeks back and forward of information sending to bots Bunq comes to the conclusion our company is not "active". I can assure you it is. But best way to relaunch is apparently to start a new procedure. Sorry but we are out.
One of the Better fin tech banks out there. Low fees and good banking interface and safety features. The Bank elite plan is very good if you travel and rent cars only it’s not valid for continuous travel for Nomad that would be an improvement.

These scammers have been holding my money for almost a year, for a refund I sent 2 banks in my name to return the balance, they keep looking for reasons that the pdf is not good or that the bank is not the right one, you are obliged to transfer the money to any European bank that has an IBAN EUR
it is obvious that they are trying to steal the money and not make any transfer, no matter which bank I send for a refund
I warn you that I am filing a complaint with Kifid
EDIT:
You're talking nonsense, I'm not interested in the bunq account, I'm interested in the money on it, you've been holding it for almost a year, it seems like you're trying to steal them

Absolutly Outrageous bank!
I used bank to rent my car monthly. This week I went on holidays to Italy and I needed to extend my car rental for another month, and what is my surprise BUNQ blocked my account after SIXT tried to debit my monthly payment. Not only they ruinned my holidays, they also put me in an incredible difficult situation with SIXT, better yet they are refusing to give me the money I had in the account! I have tried explaining the situation multiple times, but apparently renting a car is a suspicious fraudlent activity! WTF. TERRIBLE BANK

Edit: i’ve read the reaction, i get the feeling they serve me some Bunqsplaining ;) “Let us tell you”..
I do understand how you work, i just do not like it.
Hope you can take the feedback, because im probably not the only one that feels this way.
Original message:
It's sad to see all the things they try to get you in. For example the promise of a high savings rate that is that suddenly very limited in time. Only new money get's the higher rate. I don't like these hidden gotchas.
Also now the mail to double your money based on a "win-action".
Who are you? the lotto? Are you even taken yourself serious with these cheap tactics?
Shall we go for classic trust again instead of whimsy gamification?

I've been a bunq customer for long time. My issue: unauthorized payments. It was reported on 18/09/2026.
Support responses were generated templates. I contacted them many times and got no clear resolution.
For a bank, this is unacceptable. Customers need reliable access to their money and support that solves problems instead of deflecting them. I can't recommend it to anyone.

BUNQ is a scam? It certainly felt that way. 🙃
I deposited money into my account, and suddenly my money was locked “for security reasons”. Of course. Because apparently the safest place for my money… is somewhere I can’t access it. 🤡
Need help? Forget about speaking to an actual human being. Your only “support” is Finn, the chatbot. Apparently, a chatbot is all you need when your own money has mysteriously disappeared from your reach.
After a LOT of pushing and complaining, they finally returned the last payment to the sender. Small victory. 🥳
And then came the grand finale: my account was closed “for security reasons”. 😂
So let me get this straight: you take my money, lock my account, make me argue with a chatbot to get my money back, and then close the account — all “for security reasons”.
Bank of the Free? More like Bank of the Locked Funds. 👍🏽

TERRIBLE customer support, they just REFUSE to connect you with a human

Blocked my account without any reason. New account without anything to be a reason for blocking. Informed me that the review would take 1 month, and when the date arrived, they told me it is another month. I have all my saving there blocked without any reason and I have not paid rent and bills for the last 2 months. And when the second date arrived after 2 months, they say we are sorry and will keep you updated. SCAM Bank. They are taking my money and never sending me back.

I do not recommend this service. I sent funds via IBAN, and the money sat there for weeks; I tried to reverse the transfer to the same IBAN, and now they’ve blocked my money—"frozen the balance"—for at least 24 hours for my own safety???? WTF???? It’s my money going back to my own IBAN (in my name), yet they still freeze the funds? What world do they live in? If it were a third-party IBAN, I’d understand and accept it—given the risks of fraud, scams, etc.—but sending it back to the very same originating account I used before? That’s unheard of! I want my money BACK URGENTLY.

I transfered money to my Robinhood account, Sep 4 they put my account in "Safety mode" and they limited daily spending to 500 euro per day until I answer their questions to make sure I'm not being scammed. After an agent finally bothered to contact me 3 days later I answered all his questions and another day of review I finally received email confirmation that I have Full access is back — Safety Mode off but instead of unlocking my account they actually went full block, they even removed 500 spending limit altogether. Now they are asking for account statement of Robinhood which I can't produce because it's a new account, so I have essentially my funds locked in an account with 0 interest and I have to wait a full month for Robinhood to be able to generate an account statement and god knows what else they might come up with to stall the unfreezing of my account I have shared screenshot of robinhood receiving my transfers but they keep refusing to take that as proof insisting on getting my the statement, how convenient is it that banks always lock funds from leaving their accounts but they sure let me deposit more, disgusting, my wife did this with ING bank and got the issue fixed with one single phone call. They call themselves Bank of the Free, absolutely embarrasing, I have lost 20 plus euro in interest alone so far and probably will lose another 60 euro or more until this gets resolved. Its complete baffling they can send me safety mode is off and do a full lockdown even more severe after I successfully answer their questions.
Edit: they finally did unfreeze me and they gave 20 euro as compensation for the lost interest. But still missing interest on the savings account. lets see what happens.
Edit2: they finally gave me the lost interest. Thus I changed my rating from 1 star to 4, since it was still a pain to jump through all these hoops.

I had a debt for their monthly fee i paid it , and my account went straight into safety mode and under review i cant reopen it because of error saying i still have debt i cant bypass their chatbot to contact real human. Worst financial institution ever STAY AWAY!!!!
Update : now they are missing their own deadlines for the review .
Update : its been more than a week since they missed their own deadline all im getting is automated replies from their chatbot and no real human actually looked at my case .

I wanted to open a savings account. I opened it and then was asked to pay 15 euros into this account. To my surprise this 15 euros ended up on a different Bunq account. I can’t find or reach anymore. The savings account is still zero euros. This is strange and means that it is not a free savings account, as Bunq claims. I will try to end the savings account. Hopeless app.

I’ve been a bunq customer for several years now, and my experience has been overwhelmingly positive.
One thing that really impressed me was how bunq helped protect me from fraud. I was targeted by a telephone scam, and someone attempted to take money from my account. Thanks to bunq’s security features and instant notifications, I was able to spot the activity immediately and quickly deny the charges before any real damage was done. That gave me a lot of confidence in the bank.
I also love how easy it is to keep track of my finances. The app gives a clear overview of my money, transfers are straightforward, and everything can be managed from my phone without the hassle of visiting a physical bank branch.
Another big plus is the customer service. Whenever I’ve had a question, I’ve been able to contact them directly through the app and receive a helpful response surprisingly quickly.
Overall, bunq has saved me time, made banking more convenient, and provided peace of mind when it comes to security. I’ve been a happy customer for years and would have no hesitation recommending bunq to friends, family, or anyone looking for a modern and reliable banking experience.

I highly recommend Bunq, especially because this is not the first time they have protected me in a situation like this!
I almost got scammed for €165 by a non-government website while applying for a visa. Instead of the official ~€25 fee, they took €165 from my account.
I’ve realized that when you use your smartphone to book tickets or pay for services, it is so much harder to notice which website you are actually clicking. Google often proposes these rip-off scam websites right at the top of the list, and there are so many victims out there falling for this exact trap on their phones.
I honestly didn't count on getting this amount back, but I applied for a chargeback through Bunq. To my absolute joy, the money was back in my account within just a few days! Bunq once again protected my funds perfectly, proving why they are such a reliable bank.
My advice if you use Bunq:
Please create a dedicated credit card sub-account that you use for online payments, and transfer only the exact amount needed for the transaction right before you pay. I forgot to do it this time, but thanks to Bunq’s excellent protection, it ended well.
Thank you, Bunq!

I've had a savings account with bunq for a couple of years.
Never had an issue with withdrawing money to my other account. (Notably that is also the account that most of the money came from)
Now I had a small emergency and my normal account is almost empty. So I wanted to book some money to it. (€1500)
It was suddenly marked as suspicious and keeping my money for 24h.
I have withdrawn similar amounts of money before. Only ever withdrew money to this account and suddenly there is an issue.
Customer support says: nothing we can do. You can disable all safety features in the future to prevent this.
I just want this one account that is in the same name, that is the only account it frequently interacts with to be able to withdraw a very normal amount of money within a short time.
I don't want to disable all safety features to do that.

account blocked for AML for more than 3 months and this is ILLEGAL, whatever they say: that they obey the law, which they do not. No info request, just blocked and no response, avoid! Support not responding, totally scammers.

Hypocritical marketing hides discriminatory practices
bunq's "bank of the free" branding and rainbow imagery are pure pinkwashing. In reality, they operate with zero transparency and enforce discriminatory policies. As an EU citizen working in West Africa, my account was suddenly closed for "suspicious activity" after sending money twice to my personal bank account in Cape Verde.
A bank that claims to champion freedom and global connection shouldn't punish customers for sending money to developing nations. Don't be fooled by their progressive PR—their actions speak louder than their slogans.

Guys, avoid their app. Total disaster. They will block you without any explanation. Just avoid. Save your money. Absolutely terrible experience 🤮
