The FCR benchmark you're using is already obsolete

For the last decade, first-contact resolution meant one thing: did the customer get an answer the first time they called. That bar has moved. In 2026 — and even more so by 2030 — FCR means the customer's task is done on the first call. Not "here's a link, follow these steps." Done, as in the claim is filed, the address is changed across every system, the escalation is initiated.

Most contact centers have not internalized this yet. Their pilots are deflection engines, not resolution engines — and the difference in outcomes is significant.
