Avoid Monza Car Rental at Heraklion Airport
We rented from Monza at Heraklion Airport for our honeymoon, and I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone.
Before booking, we emailed Monza specifically to ask whether we could use an Amex for the security hold. They replied confirming that we could. At the desk, however, staff refused to accept it, even after we showed them the email. As a result, we were made to pay an extra 350 Euro, which matched what we’d already paid for the rental itself.
We weren’t the only ones. While we were dealing with this, two other groups at the counter were having similar problems and being pressured into paying more.
On top of that, the car came with only half a tank of fuel, even though we had paid for a full tank.
I’ve hired cars in many countries, and this was easily the worst rental experience I’ve had. Crete has plenty of excellent locally owned rental companies, so there’s no need to take a chance on Monza.
