Excellent from Fort William to Edinburgh. Scottish winter. But going going down, more than a bit chilly. TBH, rather cold. Back up, -- fkn freezing. No heat under the seats. Seriously cold from bus fr... See more

Very Disappointing Experience
Very Disappointing Experience – Missed My Flight Due to Ember’s Delay
On the night of 13–14 October 2026, I travelled from Elgin to Inverness with Ember, with a connecting Ember bus from Inverness to Edinburgh Airport. Both journeys were booked under a single booking.
My itinerary allowed approximately 27 minutes to transfer in Inverness. However, the bus from Elgin arrived around one hour late, causing me to miss my connecting bus and, ultimately, my flight.
My flight and hotel were booked together through Jet2holidays, and I had paid £1,260 for the holiday package. As a direct result of missing my flight, I had to purchase another flight departing from a different location, costing me an additional £134.18.
This experience caused me considerable stress, inconvenience and unexpected financial loss. I relied on Ember’s timetable when planning my journey, and the significant delay completely disrupted my travel arrangements.
I understand that delays can happen, but missing a flight because of a delayed bus is a serious matter, particularly when both bus journeys are booked together. I am extremely disappointed with this experience and the financial consequences it has caused me.
I expect Ember to investigate this incident, take responsibility for the disruption, and provide a fair resolution, including reimbursement of my £134.18 replacement flight expense.
I would appreciate a response from Ember explaining how this situation will be resolved. I hope the company takes this complaint seriously and improves its service reliability and support for affected passengers.
Based on my experience, I would advise other passengers travelling to catch a flight to be aware of the potential consequences of significant delays.

Glasgow to Edinburgh Airport
I used the Glasgow to Edinburgh Airport service and have nothing but positive things to say about the buses, drivers and reliability of service.
The drivers were friendly, helpful and extremely courteous.
The buses were very comfortable.
Buses run every 20 minutes and were on time both times I used it.
Will definitely be using again.

Sammy is a fantastic driver and very friendly, greeting a lot of the passengers by name. He made our journey from Fort William to Inverness so pleasurable.
The bus was comfy and it was free for us seniors. The timetable and booking system is fabulous and there are plenty of buses to choose from.
Great service
Hi, i have recently made several journeys from Edinburgh to Oban on Ember coaches, the drivers are polite and friendly. There is a variation on some are helpful with luggage some aren't. Yes sonetime the coaches are late but you do get a text to say and frankly it cant really be helped as they are always digging up roads, closing road etc so it You just have to plan for it , use the live tracker ir call their office. The coaches inside are great, seats are comfy, chargers, WiFi and clean loo. The views out the window are pretty amazing too. I usually get the train but feel converted to this coach service now and its half the price and feels much cleaner than the train. The only thing id say is put the heating on it can be abit on the cool side inside the coach.
Its very easy to book on line, I was talking to a older gent who called up and booked too, so seems to be that option for those who dont like everything on line.
Best driver!
Simon who drives the 8.27 from Oban to Edinburgh is the most helpful and polite driver. Always gets your luggage in/out for you and is a cheery happy guy. Good driver too. I always feel safe.
Worst bus company ever!!!
Worst bus company ever!!!! Never turn up on time. An hour late yet again and no text or nothing to say it's delayed or how long by.

Ember bus ....Excellent service and amazing customer service from driver Willie on E4x Saturday edinburgh to fort william Lovely smooth journey.
Absolutely shocking drivers
Absolutely shocking drivers , either sitting in the over taking lanes for miles and not over taking anyone , sat behind about 10 the last few weeks for miles.
Driver not paying attention and just pulling out or cutting you up.
Absolutely terrible drivers from what I have seen and not surprised at so many being in accidents as a regular now on the pages with them hitting cars , in ditches or crashing.
Be careful of booking return tickets
Be careful of booking return tickets! Booked a return journey from Cairnhill road stop in Newtonhill believing it would return to same stop but no, I was dumped at side of the dual carriageway at 04:30 in morning without a clue how to get to Cairnhill road, driver told me to Cross dual carriageway which is not possible as there are crash barriers all along, probably extremely dangerous too and was not correct anyway. I am a 75 year old woman on her own with luggage and was quite distressed. Luckily for me a police car stopped to help me, so kind. There was no notification from Ember to make me aware that the return journey did not go to the same place as pick up, should have been a warning, I would not have used this service had I known. Having a map with ticket is not helpful when you’re on a dual carriageway. Hope this helps make people aware of this problem, there is no duty of care with this company.
Edinburgh to Aberdeen

Reuniting us with lost property
We travelled to Edinburgh on the ember bus for an overnight before a flight to Poland. One of our group left their mobile phone on the bus, after a couple of calls and a few emails they’d arranged for the phone to be put on the bus we were getting to the airport the next morning. The following morning we got on the bus and the phone was indeed with the driver. Exceptional service!
Moving on up
Over the last year, we have been using Ember a lot more. Being in Perth, it's very central for getting anywhere in Scotland. We like late nights out in Dundee, and on a Saturday in particular, the last train available is about 10 p.m. Now, with Ember running well after midnight, we can enjoy going to late gigs and nightclubs without our night being curtailed or spending £40+ on a taxi.
Travel to Edinburgh is also good, with buses being significantly quicker than the train. We can also travel to Edinburgh Airport easily without the hassle of airport parking. The stop in Perth City Centre is very convenient, as I stay about 40 yards from it.
Other bus companies have had the monopoly for years and have taken the public for granted. Ember is fresh, modern and is taking bus travel to a new level.
Keep up the great work.

Nice buses and all but have never gotten to my destination on time like not even once
Great!
Comfy, clean and reasonably priced with friendly driver. Also so easy to book, amend or if necessary cancel for refund. Thank you for a very nice trip :)

Both journeys were excellent, on time and hassle free.
Excellent facilities and brilliant drivers.
Alex on our return journey was especially excellent, above and beyond service and credit the company.

Got on the bus from Kinross to the airport at 3.30pm which left almost on time, but then the driver did not know that a portion of the road to the airport was closed since 10 am and we lost more than 2 hours in traffic (and I missed my flight). Apparently he never received any messages about the road closure from the company and he did not therefore take any diversions! Otherwise he could have taken a different route…Thank you Ember for another disastrous journey.
Always late
Always late. Don't book and plan as Ember has become unreliable. May as well not bother with a time table. I would give it zero stars save for the fact that you can make changes to your booking without cost but it's really disappointing. I have used it regularly in the past few months between Kinross and airport and it's late every time
