Frequently asked questions

Does the extension run automatically when a record is added or edited?

No — the extension is manual: you select records and click Generate. For automatic triggers (new record, status change, scheduled batches), pair it with Airtable's built-in Automations or use Zapier, Make, or n8n. Many teams use the extension for ad-hoc batches and Make for the always-on flows.

Can it handle invoices with line items (one record, many products)?

Yes. Map a Linked Records field to your line items variable, and the extension lets you pick which sub-fields to pull from the linked table (description, quantity, price). Each linked record becomes one row in the generated PDF, with totals and per-row math computed by the template.

How do I save the generated PDF back to my Airtable record?

In the extension settings, pick a URL or Attachment column as the output field. After generation the PDF link is written directly to each record — no copy-paste, no extra automation. You can then re-share or attach it to follow-up workflows from the same row.

What's the practical batch limit for one run?

There's no hard cap, but the extension processes records sequentially and respects your plan's per-minute cap. A few hundred records on the Pro plan takes a few minutes; for thousands, run them as smaller recurring batches via Make or n8n — they handle long-running workflows better than a browser tab.
