Bizarre experience with a Voi bike
I picked up a bike near Wimbledon common (Wandsworth) and tried to cycle to Raynes Park but the brand of bikes isn’t allowed in Merton and so it ground to a halt when I crossed over into Merton. I then went back to exactly where I picked it up to re-park the bike. “Oh no, you can’t park here” said the bike. “Your nearest parking spot is Fulham.” Tried everything but it wouldn't let me stop the ride so I drove the bike 3 miles to Fulham and cancelled my night out. All of which cost me £4.90 which they wouldn't refund because "the vehicle was working and the ride was completed." - just in the wrong direction and not where I wanted to go.
Voi is genuinely a good service in…
Voi is genuinely a good service in London - I'm incentivised to write this because of how bad Forest bike is. The difference in quality is monumental.
VOI - HIGHLY IRRESPONSIBLE Company!!!
This is a HIGHLY IRRESPONSIBLE company!! A bike of theirs (HQKF) was abandoned on the pavement for 2 WEEKS! It was dangerously parked affecting people with diminished eyesight and those with mobility issues. The bike was reported to VOI TWICE and they still have NOT removed it. Westminster Council would have removed the bike by now and FINED VOI. Unfortunately EALING COUNCIL is too inefficient to do that.
LIERS!
I tried to purchase a Voi Pass, the system denied my payment, there is no block or restrictions from my number of banks that I bank with and I was told that my account has been permanently suspended due to fraudulent activity when I was clearly using my OWN cards. I have tried to log a complaint but there is literally no one there to help. I want this decision over turned, you made me feel like I committed an offence when I was genuinely trying to purchase a Voi Pass which is what I have been doing since joining. Absolutely terrible!
Failure to adhere to dumped bike after 2 weeks
A bike has been left since 6th Sept, blocking a pavement & entrance to a building, been reported 3 times & NO action has been taken. It is still there & fallen over, a hazard to people. Awful company customer service is next to nothing, fob you off. Been reported to the local council & now the Police.
Poor and quite unsafe
This seems like such a brilliant idea but - in Edinburgh at least - is so poorly executed. The bikes are about 50% damaged or with poor electrics, the parking spaces say they’re available on the app and then won’t let you park when you arrive, bikes are pointlessly reserved and unavailable and twice the app hasn’t let me terminate the ride and the reason is really unclear. There is no customer service at all. A real shame. Hopefully a better company will take the idea and improve it.
Avoid at all costs
Avoid at all costs! I received a message saying there was technical issue from VOI end so I couldnt end the ride and when I emailed and called them they were extremely rude. They still charged me for the ride despite the fact that I wasnt able to end the ride.
Very disappointing experience from start to finish.
I was charged unfairly due to a parking issue caused by the app/system, yet when I raised my concerns, the response I received was cold and dismissive. What frustrated me most was being told that my refund was a "courtesy." It was not a courtesy. The refund was money that should never have been charged in the first place.
There were other bikes, including Voi bikes, parked in the same location, so it made no sense that I was not allowed to end my ride there and was instead required to cycle several more minutes to another parking spot. This resulted in additional charges being applied to my account.
To be clear, I am not disputing the cost of my original 26-minute ride. I accept that my ride time had expired. My complaint is about the extra charge taken from my card because of the parking issue, which I believe was completely unfair.
The poor customer service and lack of accountability have left me feeling undervalued as a customer. I will not be using this company again.
Disgusting thieving company
Disgusting thieving company. Charged me £25 for illegally parking my bike. On 2 occasions I ended my rides in a designated parking ebike bay. Wouldn't allow me to end my ride saying I was in a no parking zone when I wasn't. Had to walk away on the end as I was late for work. Contacted support which was a waste of time as unhelpful. I've deleted my account & I'm warning people to avoid these crooks!
Great when it works!!
Great when it works!!
Previously had an old phone, wondered whether that was partly why I had Voi problems. Nice new phone, first Voi tide all good fun till tried parking it!! No luck, 2nd location almost empty but no luck, app won’t let me end ride, and chatbot threatens me with £25 charge. They need to fix that

do not use this company unless you have read all the small print and pricing levels
exorbitant charging!!!!
more expensive than hiring a car!
customer service unhelpful
avoid at all costs
Unsafe and useless
Used one of these bikes, it let me ride to camden, london but doesnt cover the area so i was unable to end ride so i had to cycle to a unfamilar area that was further away from my starting position. On top of that, it refused to let me park even when there was space so a total waste of time and left me stranded in an unsafe unfamilar area in the night.
Customer service was useless and wasted my money - never again
Price increase of 30%
Price increase of 30%. With no communication with customers.
Impossible to find parking
Impossible to find parking. App doesn't direct you properly to where you can park. If signal fails and your bike pauses while you're trying to figure out parking, you then have to push a very heavy, wheel locked bike until you can get to somewhere and unpause it. And then you still may have to ride around looking for other voi bikes to park near.
Great Experience With The HR Team At VOI
Dealt with the HR team at VOI recently (A.V.) - could not have been more accommodating or helpful with a job application and interview process. A truly unique experience from a very humane team of people. Thank-you!
Basic bikes are not good, app is worse
Basic bikes are not good. Clunky and feel unsafe. Often in worse condition than competitors (like Lime).
App is total junk in London. Has issues with parking all the time. They often have outdated info as to P locations. Ride often fails to end and they won’t give refunds for extra time elapsed. Just crap.
Joke of a service and company!!
So utterly devastated by this service.
Just moved into Cheltenham and was so excited to finally have access to a scooter service. However, I have been let down by being charged for scooters I did not use and had to reset my Apple Pay on numerous occasions for no reason other than the app failed.
This company is a joke and I advise all to walk or find an alternative solution for their travel needs.
Such a shame, as this was to be my primary travel option post my recent move.
Parking is the issue
Parking is the major issue. I had to cycle 20 mins away from my house to park, to then have to get an uber home.
Before people ride - VOI should provide a map of all the red zones / or green zones for parking.
I support cycling in London, please just provide more transparency before allowing people to cycle.
Voi uses residential streets as dumping grounds and doesn't care.
Voi dumps large numbers of e-bikes at a road junction, often piled on top of each other, blocking most of the pavement and spilling into the road. Pedestrians, including wheelchair users and parents with buggies are forced into the carriageway to get past. This is a school street, so young children walk this stretch every day.
I complained to Voi and included photos of the hazard. Their response: no apology, no acknowledgement of the danger, no reference to the photos, just a link to a self-service web form and a note that requests "may take up to 28 days to be processed." Twenty-eight days for a pavement-blocking hazard on a school street.
Voi profits from our public space but takes zero responsibility for the mess and danger its fleet creates.
