AusFF website initial package shipping estimate for size, weight, value, and destination, total was less than half of actual charges; $54 -> $129.
Once logged in, the exact same shipping information estimate jumped to $84.
Tarrif HTS code 8518.30.20.00
Shipped as a personal or gift item any purchase under $100 qualifies for de-minimus; purchase price $35.45 aud, gift.
Trying to collect tarrif duties for a de-minimus purchase that is explicitly exempt by both Australian and US law while trying to collect the tarrif duties on the cost of shipping does not appear legal.
AusPost contacted directly quoted $46 including package pickup from the AusFF address for Standard International 10-35 business days and confirmed tarrf duty exemption.
AusFF quoted $84 (auspost standard) + $18 (aus tarrif) + 17 (usa tarrif) = $129.
Tarrif law is a little muddy but the highest legal tarrif I can get to estimate under any circumstances on any government or retail website is $4.13 as a us import tarrif of 12.5% on $35.45.
Landing costs (including the cost of shipping to the purchase price for tarrif purposes) do not appear to apply for this specific purchase.
There was initial confusion about the size of the package delivered vs the manufacturer / seller product dimensions; .68 kg advertised, 1.3kg weighed.
However, with that cleared up, AusFF still can/will not explain the discrepancy between AusPost and their own charges.
AusFF wanted me to create an account with their import partner to get an explanation of why it's legal to charge a tarrif on this purchase.
All publicly available information states clearly that my purchase is exempt.
This information was confirmed as true and accurate by a human Australian Government employee.
AusPost confirmed specifically to me that AUSFF is inflating the cost of shipping, that my package is not subject to any additional tarrif duties from both Aus and USA, and that shipping cost cannot be added to the purchase price for tarrif collection on this purchase.
I trust the published law and the word of the Australian Government's employees more than I do AUSFF.
During the conversation AusFF deleted my account and destroyed records related to our dispute against my express instructions.
AusFF promised to return the purchase to the retailer.
Then AusFF asked for more money, $14, to release my property back to my control to process a return to the original retailer.
AusFF agreed the next day to process the return however I do not have any evidence that this has happened.
AusFF refuses to refund any portion of the transaction.
I believe that at a minimum the service was materially misrepresented inducing me to pay AusFF $5 for a service that could not be provided at the advertised price.
I've also lost money either way on account of their business practice by way of non-refundable shipping and return fees to the original retail store; $9.09 + $25.
I don't know if they owe me $5 or $39.09 but I feel certain that the number isn't -$53.
That's what it looks like the cost is for me trusting this business.
I have opened an investigation with NSW Fair Trading and the ACCC.
There may be a disconnect in my understanding here. Without any clear explanation I'm forced to seek guidance from the local regulatory authority.
Straightforward, efficient and very responsive. Reached out on Whatsapp for further clarification and questions. Shipped rapidly and professionally. Had no issues and was very impressed by their service. Adheres to all laws and regulations to ensure shipment is appropriate for international travel.

unfortunately the delivery was awful. I love the item I purchased, but if the delivery situation does not change, I cannot order this again. the delivery was left outside my house after 8pm, no knock or notice.
this was after the incorrect item was delivered (another customer's order). I had to go back and forth with the courier over and over trying to locate my delivery.
I had to call that customer myself, who collected the huge (it was over 1.5m and weighed more than 25kg) parcel that was left at my front door. I could barely exit my house.
That customer said he was so thankful to me, because he had been trying to get his delivery for 4 days and they didn't know where it was. I was the first person who actually confirmed that they knew the location of his order. And I don't even work for them. I just didn't want his item to be lost any further than it already was.
meanwhile privacy breaches in the leaking of customer names, addresses, and phone numbers occurred throughout, with the delivery company sending incorrect parcels to many customers.
I cannot feel confident in my details being safe, and my carton was wet because it was outside all night, because no one expects anything to be delivered after 5pm, let alone after 8pm. it's a really unacceptable delivery service, and while the items I ordered are excellent, the stress isn't worth it.

I had an excellent experience with AusFF. The ordering and parcel-forwarding process was straightforward, and I received helpful updates throughout the shipment. My package arrived safely and in good condition. The service was reliable and made it easy for me to purchase items from Australia and have them delivered to the United States. I would gladly use AusFF again and highly recommend it.
