Unique Return Experience

There are certain colors in bed sheets I gravitate toward...blues...grays...dark greens. Unfortunately, they also seem to be the colors of sheets that fade oddly or get weird discoloration or bleachy splotches (with no bleach used). In frustration, I usually end up buying white sheets for a few years,

Well, I bought a percale king set in Cloud (light blue) at Riley Home. I could not resist: great color. Sheets are nice quality. Decent price for "expensive" sheets.

But two of the pillowcases and the fitted sheet only (not the flat sheet) developed stains after a few washings. It's barely been a month since they arrived, so I contacted customer service with photos. They had an interesting "solution" : they sent me a "one time only" replacement of the two pillowcases and the fitted sheet. What does this tell me? They know the sheets have a problem so they replace rather than putting customers and themselves through a return "assessment of your damaged sheets" rigamarole.

I have a grudging respect for Riley Home since they did not waste too much of my time with going back and forth with customer support. Plus, they told me all I need to know about the future with Riley Home: I know to move on from buying sheets at Riley Home because I have no doubt the replacements will soon discolor as well.

Review of Neobits

Sales Department Only Reads Neobits Site

I am glad I checked out Trust Pilot first. I found their site because they have decent prices. I was a little concerned about "after-purchase" service (and now I'm concerned about "purchase-purchase)! I'm going to focus my comments on my two interactions with "Sales" as opposed to "Service."

I now know my gut was right. Neobits is just another wholly unncessary Drop-Ship site. No skin in the game. They just send a message to the manufacturer of whatever you order from them to send it. The minuscule number of people who work their know nothing besides what you and I can read on site.

Also, when you realize they are drop ship you realize they are keeping so much money from the manufacturer because they have no overhead. So their prices actually are not good at all.

Neobits is all rather phony and focused on marketing and tracking customers. They do not have the manufacturers spec sheets uploaded along with photos of lighting fixtures. That is epically lazy. Particularly today with the variety of light sources and especially for medical equipment, which is what I was looking for on Neobits.

There is a chat which is clearly AI but presents itself lol as a real person (even my 14 year old doesn't type that fast!). It suggested I "contact the manufacturer for the spec sheets!" Their chat help will not even let you begin a conversation until you enter an email. )I did. It was joe.dumb and it was accepted.) Bad AI.

So I called and there is one person who answers the phone there (under the "Press 1 for Sales") with a timid "hello." She seemed reticent to tell me her first name. But I said "I like to know the first names of people I am spending $1,650 with." No laughs.

Then she basically confirmed it was Drop Ship by telling me that she has "no way of getting in touch with those who could answer my questions: and then gave me some Byzantine instructions to fill out a form on the site—"because they would see it." "They?" Sounds ominous. Anyway, you cannot submit the form until you sign up for an account! Caveat Emptor!

Abysmal Experience

Absolutely abysmal communications and service. I mean, the kind of behavior you tattle on, alert your credit card company, and never shop from again. Interestingly today—January 21, 2026—is their final grace period day for accepting holiday returns bought in December or something like that. I have no idea whether this company uses their inability to communicate with customers strategically...ie do they they want items to be un-returnable?...or whether they are thoroughly unprepared to swim with the big (and medium) fish of retail. I don't know the answer to this because I have no brand promise from this company. I don't know them. I had never heard of this company prior to receiving their Fall 2025 catalog in the mail. At first, I thought it was a fake legacy brand, but it turns out it's an authentic legacy brand, established in 1949. I like a good catalog so I took a browse. I found a few unique items that could make for some nice gifts so I ordered them. All of them were marked at full price. At that point it was...kudos to them: they converted me into a customer...a significant measure of success for a marketing campaign—and a mailed paper catalog.

Later in December, I began to see their Facebooks ads everywhere. I'm sure they got a lot of clicks—they use a lot of 60+ models, which I dig, but in my opinion, all of that marketing is where their issues started. They clearly do not have the talent needed to manage their business expansion.

I received my items in a timely fashion. I'm realistic about quality at this price point so while a bit lukewarm, I could like most of the items I purchased, but I did consider returning a sweater I was on the fence about. I also had an accessory I planned on giving as a gift on 12/25. Therefore I decided to wait on any returns with Quaker Marine until I found out if the gift worked out.

The gift turned out to be too small and I promised to exchange it for another size or another item at Quaker Marine. I could not find answers to the questions I had about the products on their site, so on January 11, 2026, I sent a detailed email to support at QuakerMarine dot com, an email address identified on their site. My email was responded to on January 14th. I was apologized to for the delay and asked—and this is priceless—if I still "needed answers to the questions" since it had "been a while" since I wrote them on January 11th. I replied promptly in the affirmative.

Of course this begs another question from me: why go to the trouble of responding to me and not answer my question? Was it "buying for time" on their part? No idea but that was a first for me from any retailer.

They did not answer me promptly (about how "yes, I still need help") so on January 17, I re-replied to their email..a bit more firmly.

On January 20th—at the end of the day—I finally received a reply to my original email / question from January 11th...basically a "no."

Later that day—January 20—I visited their return url and attempted to return the item. It was not accepted for return since it was "marked down." For starters, I purchased it all full price, and for enders, the item is still (as of this writing) full price on their site.

I was cognizant of the impending January 21, 2026 return deadline so I sent another email to the support address explaining my predicament and concern. To help with my paper trail (which I was beginning to accept was going to become crucial) I also sent them a note via their online contact form.

Then on January 21, 2026 when I still had no word from Quaker Marine Supply, I called the bank affiliated with the credit card I used and had them complete a charge back refund for the item and they'll perform their own investigation. I absolve myself of Quaker Marine Supply: they are now my bank's problem, not mine.

Review of Andrew Christian

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Ordered Two / Received One

I ordered two items. One arrived and other did not. I inquired as to whether the second piece was being shipped separately. Was informed, more or less, that 'their process was impeccable and therefore they could not assist me.' Fortunately, I speak Tool (my father was Toolish) so I understood what that meant: I could go sit on a thumbtack.

Considering Andrew Christian is ceasing production / closing permanently next week, their customer service team is clearly not very invested in my satisfaction. With my own experience having worked for two companies that announced closings a bit too early than they should have, my déjà vu was activated. 80% of the staff at the companies I worked for strip-mined their employers of anything worth anything. If too much time goes by some previously loyal people who now feel betrayed are more likely to mess with the company.

I do not know what the story is with Andrew Christian, but they certainly are being very irresponsible.

On another note, I was going to give them two stars because I liked the underwear that arrived...but common sense would dictate that if someone takes your money for nothing in return, they get one star.

Selective Customer Service

Goodee World has more than 2,400 product reviews published on their site and they are all FIVE STAR REVIEWS. Isn't that amazing? It's also not possible outside of Shangri-La. Everyone doesn't love everything...a lesson most of us learn at a very young age. but apparently not Goodee World, which feels it is very important to show only their best side: to borrow their marketing language, methinks they "curate only the finest reviews."

But I am getting ahead of myself. Let's go back to early June. I was seeking nicer-than-usual brooms and found Goodee World. I first emailed customer service with three different screenshots because I received three different quotes for shipping fees in my cart on their site. They were responsive to the extent that they personally (not automated) replied to let me know they were looking into it with IT. They emailed once again the following day to confirm shipping. I was impressed by the attention and I ordered 5 products.

I found 4 out of 5 products nice but I was underwhelmed by 1 of them and found it neither practical nor stable. I kept it because...well, have you ever packed up a broom for a return shipment? Neither have I and I intend to keep it that way.

Goodee World, meanwhile, solicited me to submit product reviews for my purchases. I'm no stranger to providing reviews. I believe in the concept of reviews and I feel I have something to add besides false bonhomie.

I submitted a 3 star review and a 5 star review. Both submitted reviews resulted in an auto reply confirmation. The 5 star review was published promptly while the 3 star review was...never published. (I mean, it was neither 2 stars nor 1, but 3 and within, I compared the product to an Alexander Calder mobile. Most retailers would be delighted at such a comparison and it's hardly something to become so upset over that you lose your good manners and don't write back to the customer!)

Over the following week, I wrote 3 more emails to customer service to inquire as to the whereabouts of my review, which I had gracefully provided them, gratis.

Aside from not responding to me within their promised 48 hour period, they actually never responded to me at all. This was about the time I noticed that they only publish (hyperbolic) 5 star reviews. The entire process left a bad taste in my mouth and makes me feel they are phonies and the ethos they spout on their site is just a bunch of words with no meaning.

Damaged Products

Ordered a Groove Cara Pen and 2 lighters in December 2024. The Cara arrived scratched and clearly had been a return. The two lighters are almost unfillable and 3/4 of the butane spills all over the exterior of the lighters. I have tried email, phone, and contact form. Nothing from them. Update: Eventually, I contacted my bank (I had paid with a bank credit card) and they were able to intervene and get me a 100% refund...no help at all from Vapor.com.
