Excellent Service provided by Excellent employees
I'm a disabled Vietnam era veteran and receive cleaning services twice a week from nome instead. Ann Marie and Lisa both provide excellent home cleaning, laundry, and dish washing for me. They are both always on time. They also always ask if there is anything else they can do. They even take my dogs out for me when I'm not feeling well. The owner John is always available to answer all of my questions and works with the VA to get me the help I need. I highly recommend home instead in New Port Richey to everyone needing home care.
so called care workers will rob you blind
These so called care workers will rob you blind. They've gone through many cabinets, drawers in my mom's home and stolen money, drugs, food. Stay away from this organization. There are some decent workers, but they're mostly trash
This agency is disorganized and…
This agency is disorganized and dysfunctional. They take advantage of people in need. They don't have quality care givers. The caregivers are not reliable. They try and charge you for hours that were not completed. They are not transparent. They have not to date provided me with invoices but they keep charging me despite my father no longer receiving care. Hard to know if they are corrupt purposely or just really, really disorganized. Find another agency.
Unprofessional Management
My experience working for this company left me extremely disappointed in how management communicates with and speaks about employees. I understand that scheduling and attendance are important in home care, and employees should be expected to honor their availability. However, there is a significant difference between addressing scheduling concerns professionally and making personal assumptions about an employee’s character, priorities, and intentions.
During my employment, I received concerns about my time-off requests even though management acknowledged that my requests had not been denied and that I had been rehired with prior knowledge of significant previously scheduled time off. I made efforts to communicate my availability, showed up for my scheduled shifts, and was willing to adjust my schedule or stay later when needed.
What affected my opinion of the company most was accidentally being copied on an internal management email discussing me. In that message, I was described as viewing myself as a “victim,” management assumed I considered the job a “low priority,” and it was suggested that my schedule should be kept light because they believed I was looking for another position. Those assumptions were particularly discouraging because they were being discussed internally rather than addressed directly with me.
Management later acknowledged that I was copied on the message unintentionally, apologized for the harsh comments, and stated that they may have drawn the wrong conclusion. I appreciated the apology, but seeing how I was discussed behind the scenes permanently changed my perception of the workplace.
Employees can absolutely be held accountable for attendance and scheduling. At the same time, employees deserve direct, respectful communication rather than having assumptions made about their commitment because they have family responsibilities, appointments, education, or previously planned obligations.
Based on my experience, I would encourage prospective employees to be very clear about their availability, keep important scheduling communication in writing, and understand that requesting time off may affect how management perceives their commitment to the company.

Home instead currently cares for my mother 2 days a week
Caregiver is seen on camera watching videos on her phone drinking coffee for over an hour while my mother sleeps
There's plenty to do. Consistently leaves early and admin doesn't seem to care. Basically told me to give 2 weeks notice to cancel which we are doing. Don't let these people care for anyone you love

We have my 92 year old Dad living with us. We need a little bit of time to do our own errands so we hired Home Instead to help us out. We have been incredibly fortunate to get a care giver that does what ever it takes to make Dad happy. They go for rides to see the sunflower fields, the pick up black walnuts and clean and crack them. Juli George is attentive, kind and compassionate. She is a shining example of what a care giver should be. Thank you Juli and thank you Home Instead.

I had a family member being cared for…
I had a family member being cared for and entrusted with the care and compassion expected when hiring a caretaker for a loved one. The issue was there was no compassion and no care. it was disgusting to be quite honest how this person was treated. I'm sure there are some truly passionate caring people that work here, however I can only say that hoping I am right. The owner Amy is dismissive and apparently does not see the seriousness in potential elder abuse. Feeling betrayed and tricked when a company visited the home for a completely non caretaker reason, such as a cleaner, cable person etc has to take video to show you the neglect, it's hard to forgive that. please look elsewhere for your loved one unless you plan on being present 99% of the time your loved one is being " taken care of".

I am going to rate the review system a zero since no locations are given in the critiques . How do I know where the bad operators ARE if the location is not mentioned. ???? Maybe Tulsa is great and Ponca City is
terrible ???
Great Service and reliability
I Really enjoy the fact that I can speak to a person instead of a AI, this is a big plus for me.
I have in the past had 3 different agencies and " Home In Stead" surpasses all the other. The Staff is wonderful, helped and polite. All the care givers are consistent, and this is a: BIG PLUS" I Highly Recommend them to everyone
Terrible experience
Please reconsider using this company. My brother had a horrible experience with them. They are not a bit compassionate.
Good
We have Cartieva Tompson helping with my grandfather's care, and my grandmother speaks very highly of her
This agency was a nightmare for my family
This agency was a nightmare for my family. We had multiple untrained caregivers that were sent to care for my mom. They basically were "sitters" and refused to do cares. We set up a care plan which the agency did not follow. We knew one caregiver was stealing and snooping in private information so we set up a Ring camera and had everything on video. They still denied he did anything wrong. The caregiver stole my dads medications. Multiple more examples of the poor caregiving and inconsistent caregivers. Stay clear! The agency treats the family absolutely awful! They do not have high integrity.
Aids frequently cancel at the last minute
Aids frequently cancel at the last minute. My wife and I are both disabled. I schedule our grocery deliveries for when our aid is scheduled to be here, so they can get our groceries inside and in either the freezer or fridge. 3 out of the last 4 Sundays the aids didn't show up, and our grocery orders were left out in the sun to spoil. I am not amused.
They lie to you about your pay and then…
They lie to you about your pay and then say they don’t remember telling you what they said. If I could just give them negative they definitely deserve that. You never get to speak to a real person it’s all AI. They don’t care if you work in a place that has bedbugs. They don’t train you correctly. I can go on and on. Just if you’re thinking about working here run the other direction
Here's my resignation letter
Here's my resignation letter, copy pasted. Enjoy!
------ ------
I resign my position with Home Instead. You can't treat people like garbage and expect them to stay.
1. For my very first assignment, you tried putting me with a client who had an EXTREMELY deadly and contagious disease. You tried convincing me to go anyway since the disease was "in his lungs" and therefore not a threat. You are not a doctor and have no medical authority to make such a claim, and the evidence available online clearly contradicts this. The disease is just as contagious when it's in a person's lungs. I explained I could potentially kill the person I live with, and you still persisted that I should take this assignment despite that concern, and without acknowledging that concern.
.
I said once in a voicemail that I would like to cancel that assignment. I said again in an email that I would like to cancel the assignment. Despite saying this twice in two different ways, I still got a call that woke me up from a dead sleep the next morning where you continued telling me to go to take the assignment.
.
2. I told you several times about my issue with dogs. I carried a cane with me out to my car each time I left the office during the three day training. One of the staff asked why I do this, and I explained that it's to protect myself. The cane is a weapon I can use against dogs if I'm attacked. The matter has to be extremely important if a person carries a weapon expecting a possible confrontation. It's not something a person does casually. I explained the history -- again more than once -- of being attacked by dogs. My statements were acknowledged, and I was told "I'll put that in your file". So for my very first assignment, you put me with a client who has a "medium sized dog" (such as a pit bull.) After acknowledging my concern. And putting it in my file.
.
3. I was going into a dangerous situation on my first assignment, and was told I had an emergency number on the back of my name badge that I could call. I tried calling it, and it "didn't recognize my phone number", meaning I could not access the emergency line if I was in trouble.
.
4. I spent hours on my day off trying to fix an error in the tax forms, as well as filling out a series of other forms. For the future, you might consider trying to get all paperwork done and out of the way on the first day of the three day training, so by day three, if there are problems, you can fix them while the employee is at location, rather than sending a dozen emails pressuring them to fix such errors at home on their day off.
.
5. I told you I strongly prefer shifts starting at 9am. I told you this at our very first interview, and this is another thing I explained several times. I said I was willing to bend a little, and could start work at 8am. My first shift was canceled for reasons discussed above, and my next shift after that one was scheduled not at 9am, not at 8am, but at 7am. It's almost like you've listened closely to everything I've told you, and are deliberately trying to step over every boundary I've put up.
.
But this one went even further. I was told again and again to begin work at 7am, and had to repeat over and over that I was available starting at 8am at the earliest. It genuinely felt like talking to a brick wall. This tells me that if I stay at this company for any length of time, I'm going to be very routinely ignored, and have to assert the same boundaries repeatedly. And this isn't over taking a week off from work, or needing some special consideration of which the company would have to go out of its way to accommodate. This much fuss was being made over 1 single hour of start time, and again, I told you my availability at our very first interview.
.
If starting at 8am was a serious problem, you should not have hired me. Or you could have assigned me to literally any other client that does not require a 7am start time. That was another option you decided not to take. Hiring someone who tells you the conditions of their employment, then blatantly ignoring everything that person tells you, might be part of the reason your company has a staffing retention problem. Perhaps you're used to hiring people who are so financially desperate that they don't have a choice. I'm financially stable with multiple sources of income. I took this job purely because I wanted to. Not everyone can be bullied.
.
I'm not sure how many times I explained that my earliest start time is 8am, but by 5pm on June 20th, it was clear that you simply refuse to listen, and you're seemingly okay putting me in extremely dangerous situations with little regard for my concerns, so I'm resigning.
.
And since understanding start times is such a problem for you, this email is scheduled to be sent at 6am. I will be sleeping in, so please don't call (and I'm turning my phone off since you'll probably ignore that too.)
Horrible service
Horrible service, stay away. Don’t even think of applying to work here.
I worked here at Home Instead
I worked here at Home Instead.
Do NOT work here!!! They do not treat the employees as they should for the extremely hard physical & mental labor they do.
They give the employees crazy schedules, unpromised shifts, and 0 appreciations besides an email “thanking us”.
Rude office workers that are above the caregivers and treat them horribly. Inappropriate and nasty attitudes.
They will take off and put on shifts without communicating with you.
They do not communicate well in general you would think half of the employees are incompetent.
Very sad, depressing job. They are money hungry. The owner of the Edina Home Instead opened another franchise before the original one was already put together. They are disorganized, hire anyone, and do not fire people when they need to be fired.
I left this job and have never been more confident in my decisions.
The clients were wonderful but at the end of the day I was not being treated as I should’ve, was not getting paid the right amount for the work I was doing, and so much more. Please listen to everyone saying not to work with/for this company!!!! They are not lying!!!!
Caregivers
Since 2021, my family has been utilizing services from Home Instead. The experience has been wonderful. Our caregiver has practically become part of our family and makes me, as a daughter, feel so at ease. I know that my mom is cared for in a way I would love to provide if I didn’t have to work. The company works with families to find a caregiver who matches their clients' needs and personalities. You should always feel free to contact them with any questions or concerns you may have!
