If I could give this company less than one star, I would.

We booked and paid a deposit for our airport transfer over five months before my hen do, giving the company plenty of notice to arrange the transportation. Despite this, less than three working days before we were due to fly, we received a text informing us that their bus had broken down and that they could no longer provide our transfer.

What was particularly disappointing was the complete lack of apology, empathy or any attempt to take responsibility for the situation.

We were told that they had apparently found another company who could take us, but that this would cost an additional £200. When I spoke to them on the phone, I was initially told the additional cost would be £75, only to then be told it was actually £200 by the ‘other’ comapany. This was extremely frustrating and made the whole situation feel very dishonest.

I contacted the company they recommended myself, and they were absolutely appalled by how we had been treated. They had apparently been given no information about the previous booking or the fact that the original company’s vehicle had broken down and believed we were simply a completely new customer making an enquiry.

I also had serious concerns about the replacement company. I was unable to find a website or any online reviews for them, and I wasn’t even given a clear company name. The new company also wanted all the money up front so this was another red flag. Given that we were responsible for transporting a large group of people to the airport for an important trip, this raised significant red flags and understandably left me unwilling to trust the arrangement.

At this point, I was practically crying on the phone because we were only days away from my hen do, had no confirmed transportation to the airport and were desperately trying to find an alternative company at very short notice. What should have been a straightforward booking made months in advance had suddenly become incredibly stressful and expensive, with the cost of our transportation potentially increasing from the original £625 quote to around £1,000.

What made matters worse was the attitude I received when I contacted the company. Rather than offering any genuine apology or assistance, I was repeatedly told that “it wasn’t their fault” and that we would have to pay the additional cost regardless.

I also asked for details of their insurance so that I could understand whether the additional costs we had incurred as a direct result of their cancellation could potentially be covered. These details were also refused.

I completely understand that vehicles can break down and that unexpected circumstances can happen. My complaint is not simply that the vehicle broke down; it is the way this situation was handled. We had booked and paid a deposit months in advance, and the company left us with less than three working days’ notice to arrange alternative transportation, while showing very little concern for the significant stress and additional expense this caused.

The deposit has since been returned, but that does not undo the unnecessary stress this caused us just two days before my hen do. We were left scrambling to find a reliable company at very short notice, at a significantly increased cost, during what should have been an exciting and special time.

Overall, the lack of communication, transparency, empathy and accountability was extremely disappointing. I would strongly advise anyone considering booking with this company to think twice. A company can have a vehicle breakdown, but alternative arrangements should be put in place and the way they deal with the consequences for their customers says far more about them.

Recently hired Simple Coach Hire for a transfer to our cruise line in Southampton for a bunch of elderly people, a pregnant woman and a small child. On the hottest day, we were promised a coach with air con, instead we received a vehicle as old as your Nan with two tiny windows, no aircon, dirt and food everywhere on the floor and not fit for the road. We had no choice but to travel since it was short notice to hire another car as we would have been late. What an absolute joke. After speaking with Nick he promised he would sort this with management. They offered a measly £140 refund (on the next journey) after spending £1500 for the return journey after a week of trying to get compensation. Never again will we book with them again. The customer service is appalling, they don’t value their customers, they just grab whatever they can and give you the most rubbish vehicles. Avoid them and find a better and most suitable company for your transfers.

Booking our return journey to and from Bristol airport was easy. Excellent service and apart from the slight delay in getting picked up everything went really well. Drivers were engaging and the personal touch made it easy to ask questions and check in. Will use again.

Simple Coach Hire were fantastic from start to finish. I booked them as transport to and from Birmingham airport for my hen do and everything was a breeze. Nick’s communication was brilliant, and we knew who our driver was for each way before we set off, meaning it was easy to contact the drivers and let them know where we were etc. Very reasonably priced too! If I ever need something like this again, I wouldn’t hesitate to rebook!

I hired a mini bus for my sons wedding. From day one Nick kept in touch with me sorting everything so smoothly. The driver was on time so helpful and a joy to be with. He was both professional and so friendly. We had guests with limited mobility and they were catered for perfectly. We had a great experience with Simple Coach Hire. They picked up our job at very short notice, which was a huge help, and were incredibly flexible when our plans changed on the day. Adjustments were made without any fuss, and everything ran smoothly.

Communication was excellent throughout – our contact was available, responsive and reassuring, which really takes the stress out of organising transport.
Pricing was also competitive compared to other quotes we received.

It was a pleasure travelling with Simple Coach Hire. My family and I visited Liverpool last week, and the entire experience was excellent from start to finish. The booking process was smooth and straightforward, and even when I had some last-minute changes, the team accommodated them without any extra charges.
Both drivers over the two days were highly experienced and professional, making us feel safe and comfortable throughout the journey. The whole team was supportive and helpful right until the end of our trip.

I booked transport for a group journey on 7 March (Booking Ref: SCH/050346581) through Simple Hire Coaches. Before confirming, I obtained multiple quotes for a 25- and 29-seater coach travelling from Hull to Reading (with stops at Nottingham and a comfort break at Leicester), including a return journey the same day. This company quoted £1,400, which I paid in full via BACS.

Later, when our group size reduced, the vehicle was downgraded to a 16-seater, yet the price remained unchanged.

Two days before travel, I was unexpectedly asked to pay an additional £450, allegedly because the journey exceeded eight hours and required two drivers under UK regulations. After raising concerns, we agreed to proceed without the additional charge, but notably, only one driver attended on the day. This raises serious concerns about the legitimacy of the last-minute extra charge.

There were also several major issues during the journey:

1. Serious Safety Concern – Missing Wing Mirror
While travelling on the M1, we discovered that the driver-side wing mirror was missing (only the frame remained). This meant we travelled approximately 500 miles without a functioning mirror, creating a significant safety risk.

2. Faulty Handrail
An elderly passenger (aged 86) was put at risk when the entry handrail came loose while boarding. Fortunately, she was supported by a family member and avoided injury. This indicates poor vehicle maintenance.

3. Poor Vehicle Condition and Comfort
The minibus was extremely cold throughout the journey, with no effective temperature control. There were also no functioning interior lights, forcing passengers to use mobile phone torches. Legroom was limited, and there was inadequate space for luggage, even for a modest number of bags.

4. Uncomfortable Return Journey Experience
Although we had agreed to depart Reading between 5:00–5:30 pm, the return journey began at approximately 4:15 pm. During a scheduled stop, we were made to feel rushed due to the driver mentioning potential extra charges for waiting time, which made passengers uncomfortable.

5. Lack of Documentation
Despite repeated requests, I have still not received an invoice for the payment.

This journey involved NHS doctors, nurses, and elderly family members travelling to attend a funeral. It was not a leisure trip, and we expected a safe and professionally managed service. Unfortunately, the experience fell far short of this expectation.

Despite raising a formal complaint with the company, no meaningful response or action has been taken.

Given the safety concerns, questionable additional charges, lack of transparency, and poor vehicle condition, I strongly advise others to exercise caution when booking with this company.

Excellent service our driver Zahid was early polite and very professional. The vehicle was immaculate made our journey to the O2 stress free and a lot less hassle than the train and tube.
Nick communicated through out the whole booking process keeping me up to date and reassured .
I would highly recommend using this company again and to other people.

Usman our bus driver was very helpful and helped us put all our belongings on the bus. Pick up and drop times were on time and the journey was pleasant.
Nick was really helpful when taking the booking and on hand with any alterations that needed sanding prior to the journey. Would recommend and definitely be using simple coach hire again the future for our next trip away. Thank you!

We used simple coach hire for our trip from Lincoln to Manchester Airport. The driver was early, but didn't rush us. He loaded all our suitcases into the van. On our return, we got a text from the driver telling us exactly where we were being picked up and he was waiting for us when we got out of the airport. Nick, who was our assistant was amazing. Both drivers were very friendly and professional. I would definitely recommend Simple coach hire, and will use them everytime i need a minibus.
