Motorized pergolas

Most people should buy a motorized kit from the middle of the market, like the BON Villa or the PergoLux Pergola 4 Pro. They cost about twice as much as the cheapest kits, but they cover the frame for ten years. The cheapest motorized kits cover everything for one to five years, and the most expensive only make sense for a very large or storm-rated roof.

At 10×13, motorized kits run from about $2,700 to $15,000, and the BON Villa and Pergola 4 Pro cost about $6,500 to $7,000, before installation and the outdoor outlet the motor needs. Our pick is the BON Villa, and what a motorized pergola costs adds up the total.

Brand list prices, before tax, delivery and installation. Brands often run promotions, so check the live price before you order. BON’s Weatherproof and Villa 2.0 start at larger sizes, and The Luxury Pergola and Paragon’s Signature are made to order.

The cheapest kits, from Erommy and Mirador, often come with side screens or colored lights, but Erommy covers the whole kit for one year and Mirador for four, or five if you register. In the middle, BON and PergoLux cover the frame for ten years. At the top, Hansø and BON’s Grand buy you a bigger, stronger roof rather than a better motor.

Is a motor worth it?

If you’ll move the roof every day, yes. A motor lets you close it from indoors when a shower starts, or from your phone when you’re out, and most motorized kits come with built-in lights.

If you’d set the louvers in the morning and leave them, a manual kit does the same job for less. From the same brand at the same size, the motor adds about $1,400 to $1,800, as our pergola cost guide shows, and the louvered pergola kits page has the manual versions.

What the motor needs from your house

Every motorized kit needs power at one post, and in most cases that means an ordinary outdoor outlet. PergoLux asks for a standard 120 V outdoor outlet and doesn’t include it, which our PergoLux cost guide adds into the full bill. BON says its Villa plugs into a regular 110 V outlet and only needs an electrician if you want it wired into the breaker box. The Luxury Pergola ships with a plug-in cord. Hansø, Mirador and Paragon don’t say, so ask them before you order.

If there’s no outlet where the post will stand, Angi puts a new one at $150 to $260, and it may need an electrical permit. Get it in before the kit arrives.

The warranty that matters is the motor’s

The motor and the electrics are the parts most likely to need a claim, and they always get the shortest cover. BON gives the Villa’s electrics two years and its Grand five. PergoLux gives two years on moving and electrical parts. Hansø gives one year on the motor and five on the opening mechanism, and wants you to register within 30 days. All three cover the frame for ten years. Compare those motor terms, not the frame headline, when you choose.

Questions

How much does a motorized pergola cost?

At 10×13, a motorized kit costs about $2,700 to $15,000, and the middle of the market, where most people should buy, is about $6,500 to $7,000. Installation and an outdoor outlet come on top. Pergola cost adds up a full motorized project.

Are motorized pergolas worth it?

Yes, if you’ll adjust the roof every day or want to close it when you’re away. If you’d set it once and leave it, a manual kit from the same brand costs about $1,400 to $1,800 less and has nothing electrical to fail.

Do motorized pergolas need an electrician?

Only if there’s no outdoor outlet where the post will stand. PergoLux and The Luxury Pergola run from a standard 120 V outlet and BON from a 110 V one. Hansø, Mirador and Paragon don’t publish a requirement, so ask before you order.

Can I add a motor to a manual pergola later?

Not with these brands. PergoLux, Hansø and Mirador sell the motorized version as a separate kit, so decide before you buy.

Does Costco sell a motorized pergola?

Yes. Costco sells a Sunvilla Stratus 10×13 motorized pergola online, listed at $2,499.99 on 12 October 2026 and $1,999.99 during a sale the day before, which is cheaper than most kits on this page. We don’t track Sunvilla yet, so check its warranty on the motor before you buy.
