The Dish is a weekly letter from my Brooklyn kitchen about cooking, eating, and building a life around food.

Hello and welcome! My name is Phoebe Fry, and I’m the writer behind The Dish.

My cooking style was shaped by my time at Ballymaloe Cookery School in Ireland and Alice Waters’s Rome Sustainable Food Project in Italy, where seasonality and sustainability reign supreme — as well as by working the line at my favorite restaurants in New York City, Cervo’s and Hart’s. As a writer, I take inspiration from the kitchen above all else, which you’ll find reflected in The Dish.

Outside of The Dish, I’m a freelance food writer and recipe tester. I also run a small stationery business, Frying Pan Paper Co., with imagery and messaging inspired by my love of food.
