Ordered 2 VIN for American classic cars a Camaro '73 and a Montecarlo '71... one report was amazingly accurate and detailed and showed mileage and the 6 previous owners! The second was not so complete, but they offered 2 credits for compensation. All in all, a fair deal, I will say!
Excellent Customer Service
I ordered a build sheet for our 1970 Corvette. I worked with Richard Langridge and he worked tirelessly over the weekend to reproduce the original build sheet. Although I kept asking for changes/corrections, he never lost his patience. And, despite the fact that this was over a weekend, he always responded in a timely and very responsive manner.

Wrong VIN twice - corrected report missed a documented salvage history
I ordered two vintage vehicle history reports from Classic Decoder. Both came back for the wrong vehicle: neither matched the VIN I had submitted.
After several days and repeated follow-ups, they sent a corrected report for the first VIN. The seller had disclosed two salvage titles up front in his Bring a Trailer listing, and I ordered the report to get more detail on them. The report showed no salvage titles at all.
I requested a refund several times under their advertised money-back guarantee. They declined unless I provided DMV documentation, which I explained I was not in a position to obtain, as I am not the registrant. To date, I have not received a refund.
In my opinion, this is an incompetent service, and I would not use them again.

The website promises history of the vehicule's previous owners. I paid 50 Dollars for a real scam, because all I get for my E Type Jaguar are the original specifications, exactly the same informations available on every free website. Don't waste your money for it !!!

"Disappointing: no real history, just a checklist"
the report I received is nothing more than a generic technical data sheet — the kind of information you could find in the manual or in any trade publication. It doesn't provide any relevant or specific information; at best it's a superficial checklist, and at worst it feels like pure speculation, since there's no actual history behind it. On top of that, this report doesn't match what was advertised. This feels misleading, and I'm very disappointed with the service.

Classic decoder for 50.00 dollars gives you a spec sheet as a build sheet. A spec sheet gives you a wide amount of info that you can find in most books (ie service manual). a real build sheet is what the factory uses to build the car it has RPO codes regular production option . a waste of money

Wanted a report to get some history on a car I was buying, since the guy selling didnt have any past information on the car. Ordered the report and got a generic description of a 67 Mustang, no details on this car really. Pretty much the same I would have gotten to google 67 Mustang. Very disappointed. Rip Off

Product test revealed critically inaccurate details on 1978 vehicle, and extremely limited historical details despite 3 title changes since 2019, with the report simply saying it was sold in 3 States. Compared to 6 recent Carf-x reports on vehicles over 25yrs old which provided minute details, this Classic Decoder report lacked meaningful info and confidence. 1 Star.

I ordered 2 reports
I ordered 2 reports, one for my 1970 LS5 Corvette, and another for my 1971 Cutlass convertible. The first screen to pop up after I entered the info for the Corvette showed that it was an LS5. However, the report, which offered nothing other than what is generally known about this model, showed the engine as a 350ci, as opposed to the LS5's 454ci engine. So, adding insult to injury, all of the information provided was based on a 350ci car, so totally worthless. The report on my '71 Cutlass offered less information than I know off the top of my head, and I am not a car guy. Completely worthless and a COMPLETE waste of money. The only reason I signed up for this was the 4.7 rating on Trustpilot...don't know how they got such a high rating? Do yourself a favor, google your make and model, you'll probably get more information than you'll get off of Classic Decoder.

Favorable Update
A complete rip-off for me. I have a 1970 Oldsmobile convertible that I had purchased that I was trying to gather some history on. I paid Classic Decoder $43 for a report that told me less than I had already found out on my own for free. For instance, mine has factory disc brakes and their report showed drum brakes. Matter of fact, the report and build sheet they sent me wasn't even for a convertible, but a 2-door coupe. All of the info in the report was just generic info about a 1970 Oldsmobile Cutlass that anyone can find for themselves. And, when I filed a complaint with one of their support staff, he told me I must have gotten the VIN# wrong. I then sent him a snippet pic of the title showing the VIN# and that it is listed as a convertible. Caveat Emptor.....
I have an update-Classic Decoder apparently did listen to my complaint, as they sent me a completely new report the next day. It was much more comprehensive and contained a lot more information that was specific to my car than was in the first one that was sent. I thanked them and stated that if I had gotten that report the first time I would not have had a complaint, so have to credit them with listening to a customer and making the effort to do the right thing. So am modifying from one star to three.

Can not get past the sign up .says they are an unsecure website and will not let you proceed with your VIN number to get a build sheet. I was looking forward to using this for my first olds but now I'm not so sure

It’s a scam.
It’s a scam. Not at advertised. No information- just “no problems found” after every line. I know it’s difficult to trace an 11 digit vin number from the 1940s but if you can’t do it don’t advertise that you can. Also- ai generated “chat” and no refund. I never write reviews but I’m so mad about this that I’m making an exception.
