⭐ 1 STAR – DO NOT RECOMMEND MOTIVE ELD
I would not recommend Motive ELD to any truck driver or trucking company based on my experience. They lock you into a 2-year contract, and you’re stuck paying for a service that continues to cause problems.
My ELD has been incorrectly turning on while I’m off duty and burning up my driving time. Today, my driver drove for 9 hours, but the system cost him 2 hours of available driving time. When his shift ended, I was supposed to have a fresh clock because I hadn’t driven. Instead, Motive showed that I had driven for 40 seconds, started my clock, and burned up my entire day.
This is unacceptable in the trucking industry. Our hours of service determine whether we can legally drive, deliver loads, and make money. These issues can disrupt an entire workday and cost a company time and revenue.
I pay approximately $300 a month, and I’m constantly calling customer support 2–3 times a week because of ongoing problems. For that price, I expect reliable equipment and customer service that actually resolves issues. Instead, I feel like I’m paying for a service that creates more problems than it solves.
What makes it even more frustrating is being locked into a 2-year contract while dealing with these recurring issues. I have not received the resolution or accommodation I believe is reasonable given the problems I’ve experienced.
If you’re an owner-operator or fleet owner looking for an ELD provider, do your research and carefully read the contract before signing up. Based on my experience, I would not recommend Motive. Truckers work too hard for their money to deal with this kind of frustration on a daily basis.
