⭐ 1 STAR – DO NOT RECOMMEND MOTIVE ELD
I would not recommend Motive ELD to any truck driver or trucking company based on my experience. They lock you into a 2-year contract, and you’re stuck paying for a service that continues to cause problems.
My ELD has been incorrectly turning on while I’m off duty and burning up my driving time. Today, my driver drove for 9 hours, but the system cost him 2 hours of available driving time. When his shift ended, I was supposed to have a fresh clock because I hadn’t driven. Instead, Motive showed that I had driven for 40 seconds, started my clock, and burned up my entire day.
This is unacceptable in the trucking industry. Our hours of service determine whether we can legally drive, deliver loads, and make money. These issues can disrupt an entire workday and cost a company time and revenue.
I pay approximately $300 a month, and I’m constantly calling customer support 2–3 times a week because of ongoing problems. For that price, I expect reliable equipment and customer service that actually resolves issues. Instead, I feel like I’m paying for a service that creates more problems than it solves.
What makes it even more frustrating is being locked into a 2-year contract while dealing with these recurring issues. I have not received the resolution or accommodation I believe is reasonable given the problems I’ve experienced.
If you’re an owner-operator or fleet owner looking for an ELD provider, do your research and carefully read the contract before signing up. Based on my experience, I would not recommend Motive. Truckers work too hard for their money to deal with this kind of frustration on a daily basis.

I am using motive from 6 years. It was very good company. Now it turns to nightmare. New staff is very lazy. They didn't call me for my annual contract renewal. When I called my account manager she said she is busy doing another stuff will do my things after week. But she never called and never replied to my email or picked my phone. Will surely have to leave them.

They are dishonest and deceiving and do not give you any notice, they just keep taking money from your account and you cant talk to a real person. They are not a good company

In June 2026 I signed a contract renewal for a rate of $1089 per quarter for our ELDs, dash cams, and asset trackers. At the second quarter I was charged $2289.15 and they are not helping to resolve the issue. I was clearly over charged $1200.15 with no explanation, refund, or resolution. Earlier this week the sales called me and i asked about a random $35 charge to my card. I am still waiting to hear what that was about.
The customer service calls every week or two trying to push more product or sell products I already have. They have zero clue what the customer currently has.
Motive, don't reply with a copy and pasted comment about contacting customer service. I have, many times. Apparently my rep must be important because he is always in a meeting. Also, maybe he is the owner because I can not reach any person higher than him. When I ask to speak to a supervisor, there are none?
Finally do not use the line "you understand"...you don't. You're not the one that basically stole money from me and not giving it back. You're just another call center that reads scripts that refuses to provide customer service. You bought a fairly decent company and ruined it with poor customer service.

Motive frequently pushes untested updates that break core functionality, leaving users dealing with critical bugs for weeks. Their support team is largely untrained, unaware of major issues, and offers no real accountability or resolution. For a business-critical platform, this level of instability and poor service is completely unacceptable. I cannot recommend them.

THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE EVER!!!! INITIAL PURCHASE IS EASY AND FAST BUT ONCE THEY HOOK YOU UNDER A CONTRACT THEY BECOME UNPROFESSIONAL AND HARD TO GET IN TOUCH WITH. I'M TALKING ABOUT ACCT REPS. IN OUR CASE FRED DAVIS AND BRADLEY. WE'VE BEEN TRYING TO SOLVE AN ISSUE FOR OVER A YEAR AND EACH TIME WE CALL THEM THEY SAY THEY'RE SORRY THEY'LL SOLVE IT AND CALL AS BACK AND THEY NEVER DO!
HALF A YEAR!! THAT'S RIDICULOUS!!
BE AWARE BEFORE YOU SIGN WITH THEM!!

Had a fire lost the edl , shop and our truck . And then 2 separate floods that had us landlocked when telling them we would not be up and running again for some time and want to cancel they told us they auto renewed us for a year and that we could not cancel unless we paid out the “contract “ that we never signed … will never be back with this company zero compassion , we will see if they actually cancel the auto renewal . But with how money hungry they I have a feeling we will be calling them again ! NEVER again !

This app is absolute garbage! I work in the Oil field and last week it tells me I’m two hours into violation yet in the six past days I’ve driven 41 hours! So that means this app took 30 hours of time that I could’ve been providing service to my customer and shot us all in the foot with it!
Not to mention my mileage has yet to be correct on any of my days since starting to use this app and if it weren’t for the fact that I take pictures of my before and after mileage from the dashboard of my truck, I would’ve been screwed out of that mileage.
I feel like this was just somebody’s money making scheme. This isn’t about compliance. Or safety.

0/5 — Terrible Sales Experience
I’m trying to purchase a Motive ELD for my trucking company, but the sales experience has been unbelievably frustrating.
I’ve called Motive sales several times and repeatedly asked for a different sales representative because of my experience with Arthur Haider. He told me to wait for the best price, never called me back, and later gave me a quote $10 higher. I then asked for another representative, but Motive kept telling me my account was assigned to Arthur.
On my last call, they assured me someone else would speak with me. After being placed on hold, I heard the same voice again, this time using a different name. I confronted him and told him I knew it was Arthur, but I still didn’t get a straightforward explanation.
The frustrating part is that I actually want to buy their ELD. I’m simply asking to deal with a different salesperson and receive an honest, transparent quote.
Very disappointing experience. Motive needs to seriously review how its sales team is handling customers.
0/5 for the sales experience.

Great app! We can track and monitor our employees driving abilities. Great way to also help with time and material.

Been a great product for our company and the people running it have been wonderful to work with.

The in-cab warnings as well as the feedback management provides help to coach the drivers to become more attentive to what's going on while traveling.

Very disappointing experience with Motive. Our company’s service was renewed and charged without our authorization, and after contacting Elina Rauf, Motive Support, and the Billing Department multiple times, we have not received an appropriate response or resolution.
We’re a paying business customer, and our emails have been ignored, and no one has taken responsibility to fix the issue. The absence of communication, accountability, and basic customer service has been completely unacceptable.
I cannot recommend Motive to other business owners based on our experience. Check your contract, renewal terms, and billing activity very carefully before doing business with this company.

I am writing this to warn others about this company's highly aggressive and unprofessional communication tactics. Despite multiple explicit requests to be placed on their do-not-call list, their representatives continued to call our office repeatedly. When you try to speak with them, the representatives talk over you and refuse to listen. If you hang up to end the unwanted disruption, they immediately call right back. To make matters worse, after we finally terminated a call, a representative sent a hostile, vindictive email blast to multiple employees across our entire company. This goes far beyond standard sales persistence—it is outright harassment and a completely unacceptable way to conduct business. I highly recommend avoiding this company entirely.
