Spontaneous Pixel 11 Pro Camera Crack – Appalling Customer Service
I am incredibly disappointed with both the hardware quality and the customer service for my new Pixel 11 Pro. Despite keeping the device in a raised-lip protective case from day one, a spontaneous 5mm hairline crack developed straight across the rear camera glass. The crack is completely internal and only visible under certain angles and lighting conditions. There are absolutely no impact marks, craters, or scratches anywhere on the glass or the surrounding metal bezel to suggest the phone was ever dropped or hit.
When I contacted support with clear photo and video evidence, they immediately dismissed it as accidental damage. I escalated the issue, and a Tier 2 supervisor literally admitted in writing that they found it to be an "internal hairline crack." Despite this admission and the complete lack of external damage, Google flat-out refused to fix it.
To make matters worse, I was forced into using my Pixel Care+ plan. While Google advertises £0 excess for front and back glass repairs, they classify the camera island under "all other accidental damage"—meaning I was forced under duress to pay a £99 replacement fee just to get it sorted. Charging a £99 penalty for a tiny piece of glass that costs a fraction of that to manufacture is absurd, especially for a clear internal stress fracture on the Pixel 11 Pro. Google simply does not stand behind its premium hardware, and the support experience feels entirely rigged against the buyer. I deeply regret giving them a chance over Samsung.
