poor excuse for once great airline
Very disappointing experience with Lufthansa. After 50 years of international travel, this was the first time I had to pay to check luggage on an international flight — $90 each way. We also paid to upgrade to Premium Economy, then another $82 each for seat selection. The business-class upgrade was especially disappointing because the seats were essentially the same as economy. Business-class lounge access was included as a perk, but on our outbound connection in Frankfurt, 3 of our 4 hours were spent being bused from the plane to the terminal and going through passport control, leaving us less than an hour to use the lounge. On the return, the lounge in Lisbon didn't open until 5 a.m., exactly when our flight was departing, so we couldn't use it at all. In the end, we paid significantly more for very little additional benefit. Extremely poor value and a frustrating experience from start to finish.
Lufthansa new carry on policy
Lufthansa implemented a new policy with no carry on. very cheap and basic flight from Frankfurt to Paris at 150 Euros. But despite that cost they apply lower services than low cost company, and they are the only non low cost company with that policy. In addition, ne message about it at the booking time, nothing to inform you about it except after going through deep review of all their document. But when you are boarding the plane, they directly target people with that new fare verifying carry on and charging you with 70 Euros cost. There si no discussion, german style exchange, meaning customer feeling is clearly taken in consideration: pay or you will not make it into the plane.
Results: I will never take another Lufthansa flight, but as their people say, they do not care. very clear statement from Lufthansa, we do not care about customers.
Please do the same, avoid them, may be they will learn what customer centric means.
The most incompetent airline in the…
The most incompetent airline in the world! Lufthansa never fails to screw up. In the last five years, never, literally never has it happened that I took a flight with a layover and lufthansa did not lose at least one piece of my luggage. Every single time, even if I take business class. I prefer driving four days straight than taking a Lufthansa flight.
Today, they lost our bag (which was a priority item), they also lost our baby’s stroller but were able to find the stroller. No news on the bag. Then, the staff started blatantly pushing the blame to us suggesting that we missed the bag on the conveyer belt. We were at the belt before the luggage delivery started on the belt, and were there well after the delivery ended, we were there for over an hour. That’s shameful behaviour - screwing up and then blaming customers for their screw up.
They take their customers for granted. They don’t care about the feedback and reviews. A company like Lufthansa deserves to go bankrupt!
Our flight was supposed to depart…
Our flight was supposed to depart Catania on September 30th. We were informed that it would be diverted to Palermo, but would be reimbursed for our expenses. We had the same issue with arriving into Sicily as well. We were never compensated for our added expenses incurred having to depart from Palermo 2 days later and get ourselves to Palermo in our own. I incurred around $1000 extra dollars. I was downgraded to economy class after the multiple switches in order to finally make it back to the US 3 days later than expected. Customer service told us it would be very easy to get reimbursed for our expenses. However, they are noncompliant with reimbursement for these additional expenses. I will never fly with this airline again and will discourage anyone from ever flying with them. So disappointed in Lufthansa and how it treats its customers after spending nearly 7k on flights!!
They canceled the flight and for sure…
They canceled the flight and for sure no compensation. They did not even pay my expenses because of the cancellation of the flight. And their plane is falling apart !!!
The screen wasn’t working properly and their internet is the worst. Waste of money !!!
Waiting, waiting and wasting our journey !
We organised our journey to italy with this compagny. So We took a plane in Marseille to joint Munich very early in the morning. This plane should go at 6.09... He finaly left Marseille at 6.20. But it is not the worst. After he had to take another plane to joint Brindisi in Munich. The fly of these correspondance has been cancelled without any explanation. A nasty girl fired us from her embarkement office.. To get the next, we had to joint Zurick after waiting more than 2 hours ! When we arrive in Zurick, we had to wait more during 5 hours !After, we get a new correspondance and we had to We finaly arrived in Brindisi with a late of 15 hours inside 12.10 It was on the 19 of september and our first day of holyday as been wasted. I swear that never, I will trust in Luftansa. They are unable and uncorrect.
Lufthansa left us in a country that was…
Lufthansa left us in a country that was not on the itinerary and now will not refund us for incurred expenses to get where they were supposed to take us.
So here are the facts:
I paid for you to fly me and 100+ other passengers from FRA to SJJ. You failed to do that. Instead you dropped us in another country and left. Almost zero communication. Lie after lie and delay after delay.
The reason you wrote back about why the flight was cancelled is 100% not the truth and was relayed to us by your own pilots of whose name I have.
The flight WAS NOT CANCELED DUE TO WEATHER AS THE PILOT SAID AND ALL OF US ON BOARD KNEW. STOP WITH THAT LIE.
The flight was free to continue from Belgrade to Sarajevo as the weather had cleared and was again told to us by your pilot.
The flight was canceled because of mechanical issues and the maintenance guy who came on the flight after awhile said it could not be fixed.
You lied about when the bus would be ready to drive us the 5+ hours to Sarajevo and you were not even close to an accurate pickup time.
I can go on with several more lies you told and lack of anything you did well.
Stop with the stories and begin to remedy the problem. I am due compensation. You offered my colleague who was also lied to a whopping $7 USD. We spent over $600 USD to go from Belgrade to Sarajevo.
I have a legal case ready to be served and while not a threat, a factual statement.
I also have written statements form 12 of my colleagues all of whom were on this flight so if no remedy by this time tomorrow social media will plaster this over myriad sites and I will commence action with your legal team.
Stop the lies and remedy this embarrassment.
They too became crooks
They introduced a new Tarif that only allows a laptop bag or a purse on board. The app reservation was intentionally using the same colors and everything to lead you to believe that you are buying what ever you used to buy but nope. It's a new Tarif with less bags but in the old regular price with bags. Thus I ended up paying 70 EUR for a backpack that used to be included in the price. Lufthansa has been officially Enshitificated.
It was the worst business class I have…
It was the worst business class I have ever experienced. The economy section in ANA had better service than business class with Lufthansa. Totally rude, arrogant women who make you feel like you’re doing something wrong any time you ask them to do their job. Food was basically just a step above economy class. Avoid Lufthansa like the plague, I can’t describe to you how far they have fallen in the past decade.
disappointing experience at Munich Airport
I am writing to lodge a formal complaint regarding an extremely disappointing experience at Munich Airport while boarding my return Lufthansa flight to London Heathrow.
I was travelling on a fare that permitted one personal item on board, which in my case was a shoulder laptop bag.
I had travelled from London Heathrow to Munich with exactly the same bag on 02/10/2026, without encountering any issues whatsoever at check-in or boarding.
However, at the boarding gate in Munich, I encountered a member of Lufthansa's ground staff whose attitude and approach I found unnecessarily intimidating and confrontational.
The employee insisted that my personal item exceeded the permitted dimensions and informed me that I would not be allowed to board unless I paid an additional €70.
Faced with the prospect of being refused boarding and potentially missing my flight, I felt that I had little practical choice but to pay the demanded amount.
Despite paying €70, I was still not permitted to take my laptop bag into the aircraft cabin. Instead, I was instructed to surrender the bag for gate-checking.
This raises a fundamental question: what precisely was I being charged €70 for if I was subsequently denied the ability to carry my bag on board?
Once inside the aircraft, I explained the incident to a member of the cabin crew. She appeared surprised that my laptop bag had been refused and that I had been charged for it, and she apologised for the experience.
While I appreciate her professionalism and empathy, this only reinforced my concerns about the inconsistent treatment I received at the boarding gate.
I fully recognise that airlines have baggage policies and that passengers are expected to comply with them. My complaint is not about the existence of those rules, but about their apparently inconsistent application, the manner in which they were enforced, and the absence of a satisfactory explanation for the charge and compulsory gate-checking.
I am therefore requesting the following:
1. A full refund of the €70 charge, unless Lufthansa can clearly demonstrate that the charge was correctly applied under the terms of my booking.
2. Written confirmation of the baggage dimensions permitted under my specific fare, along with the basis on which my laptop bag was judged to exceed them.
3. An itemised explanation of the €70 charge and why the bag was required to be checked into the hold after payment.
4. A formal investigation into the conduct of the gate employee, including whether the treatment I received met Lufthansa's customer service standards.
5. An explanation of why the same bag was accepted without objection at Heathrow but rejected at Munich.
6. A written apology and appropriate goodwill consideration for the distress and inconvenience caused.
I would also ask Lufthansa to review whether passengers are being given clear, consistent information about their baggage entitlements across its airports.
This experience has seriously undermined my confidence in Lufthansa. I expect an airline of Lufthansa's standing to apply its policies fairly, transparently and respectfully.
If the matter cannot be resolved satisfactorily, I will consider referring it to the appropriate independent aviation dispute resolution body.
Very disappointed with Lufthansa
Very disappointed with Lufthansa. Even though the flight was delayed, I should still have made my Vy bus, but the ridiculous amount of time it took to open the doors made me miss it. This cost me a lot of money and left me struggling to find a way home. Many passengers were frustrated, and this whole situation could have been avoided. Extremely poor service and completely unreliable. I expected much better from Lufthansa.
Failed Flight
My Lufthansa flight could not take off due to the fact that only one engine was working. We returned to a gate and were booked on another flight on another airline. My checked bag of course couldn't be transferred in time for my new flight and it was eight days before I was finally reunited with my luggage. The suitcase had been broken into and half of my belongings stolen. Lufthansa wrote to tell me that I should have filed a police report in the city in which I was finally reunited with the bag.
I filed my receipts for the goods that I had to purchase while waiting for my wayward luggage and Lufthansa only compensated me for about 20% of the cost of the goods purchased, despite stating that compensation went as high as around $2100. No explanation was given as to why I was given so little.
The seats were very uncomfortable, lacking in leg room, and it would have been a very long and unhappy flight if it had been able to take off as planned.
FLIGHT CANCELLATION WITHOUT NOTICE, INCORRECT TICKET ISSUANCE, AND COMPLETE DISREGARD FOR PASSENGERS
My experience with Lufthansa has been unacceptable. I purchased a trip to Zagreb through LATAM, with flights operated by LATAM, KLM, and Lufthansa.
I discovered by chance, while checking in for my outbound flight, that Lufthansa had canceled my Zagreb–Frankfurt flight without notifying me. I was rebooked on a 6:00 a.m. flight, adding approximately eight hours to my total journey. I contacted Lufthansa and requested a 9:00 a.m. flight to reduce the layover. The change was confirmed and appeared correctly in Lufthansa’s app.
However, Lufthansa incorrectly issued the updated ticket, causing my Frankfurt–Guarulhos flight to disappear from my LATAM booking.
I have contacted Lufthansa in Brazil, Lufthansa in Zagreb, and its live chat. Nobody has resolved the issue. Lufthansa keeps directing me to LATAM, while LATAM sends me back to Lufthansa. Both airlines are shifting responsibility, and I am left without a reliable confirmation of my return flight to Brazil.
This is especially outrageous because the problem arose directly from a change made by Lufthansa. I paid for the entire journey and also paid extra to select my seats. I should not have to chase two airlines to ensure that a ticket I purchased remains valid.
WHAT I DEMAND
1. Immediate correction of my booking and ticket issuance, ensuring both return segments are properly registered.
2. Written confirmation that flight 8071 from Frankfurt to Guarulhos is confirmed and valid for boarding.
3. Preservation of my paid seat selections, or an appropriate solution if they cannot be maintained.
4. A definitive resolution before November 2.
I will not accept another referral to LATAM without action. Lufthansa made the change and must take responsibility for ensuring that my complete itinerary remains valid.
I paid for this trip and expect to return to Brazil as booked. I demand an urgent, concrete solution—not more excuses, unanswered requests, or being passed from one airline to another.
Flight cancellation need to re route…

Old, dirty planes and very rude staff
Subject: Extremely Disappointing Experience – Multiple Lufthansa Flights
My experience with Lufthansa has been absolutely horrible, not just on one flight but across multiple journeys.
On both my Sofia–Munich flight and the return journey, the cabin smelled strongly of used toilets. During my 11-hour flights to and from Bangkok, the aircraft was extremely dirty, and the pillow provided was old, smelly, and clearly not properly cleaned.
What made the experience even worse was the attitude of one flight attendant, who repeatedly ignored me when offering drinks, distributing menus, and collecting trays, while attending to the passengers seated next to me. She woke me up twice unnecessarily, showed no courtesy or welcoming attitude, and continued speaking German to me despite my responding in English. When I asked her to repeat the meal options because I had never received a menu, she dismissively replied, “I gave you a menu,” which was simply not true.
Furthermore, on the return flight, no bottles of water were offered during an 11-hour journey, only cups, which is unacceptable for such a long flight.
The combination of poor hygiene, outdated and unpleasant cabin amenities, and disrespectful service has completely destroyed my confidence in Lufthansa. I will not be flying with Lufthansa again, and I sincerely hope the airline takes these complaints seriously and addresses its standards of cleanliness, customer service, and passenger care.
Terrible customer service and an unfair experience
Terrible customer service and an unfair experience at FCO Airport
Today, I had a terrible experience at Fiumicino Airport (FCO) while flying from Rome to Frankfurt with Lufthansa.
Knowing that my luggage was heavy, I had already paid for the additional cabin baggage allowance. I registered a suitcase that was not even full and was within the permitted size and weight limits. I completed check-in and specifically asked whether everything was okay. I was told that everything was fine.
However, when I was boarding, I was stopped by staff and told that I had to pay an additional fee because my carry-on baggage was overweight. I explained that I had already paid for it, but instead of helping me resolve the issue, the staff treated me extremely poorly. I was told that my options were to “throw my bag in the trash,” stay in Rome with my luggage, or pay the additional fee.
I tried to explain that, if there was an issue with my baggage allowance, it should have been identified during check-in, especially since I had explicitly asked whether everything was okay. The staff dismissed my concerns, said they did not have time for me, and repeated that I could stay in Rome with my bag.
Feeling that I had no other choice, I ended up paying the additional fee simply to avoid missing my flight. The entire experience was stressful, frustrating, and completely unacceptable.
I previously had a very positive impression of Lufthansa and have used the airline regularly for my trips to America. Unfortunately, this experience has seriously damaged my trust in the company. I understand that baggage policies must be followed, but passengers deserve clear communication, consistent procedures, and respectful treatment, particularly when they have already paid for their baggage and have asked staff for confirmation.
Given Lufthansa’s prices compared with other airlines, I expected a much higher standard of customer service. Based on this experience, I will seriously reconsider flying with Lufthansa in the future.
I hope Lufthansa takes this complaint seriously and improves both its communication regarding baggage allowances and the way its staff treat passengers.
Premium prices, low-cost treatment: Petty gate checks on standard cabin baggage
When choosing to fly with Lufthansa and paying significantly higher fares than those of low-cost carriers like Ryanair, one expects a level of service, professionalism, and customer care that matches the price tag. Unfortunately, my experience today on flight FRA – CTA (Frankfurt to Catania) scheduled for 6:30am demonstrated the exact opposite.
Despite the flight already being delayed, the priority at the gate was clearly not to streamline boarding or minimize inconvenience for passengers, but rather to enforce a hyper-strict and aggressive policy on hand luggage dimensions. Both my wife and I were pulled aside and detained at the gate for several minutes for a meticulous check of our trolley bags.
Unsurprisingly, both of our bags fitted perfectly and seamlessly into the official sizing gauge, much to the obvious embarrassment of the gate agent who was unable to issue a fine. Given that our bags were visibly standard and nowhere near oversized, it felt less like a legitimate space management procedure and more like a deliberate attempt to generate extra revenue through arbitrary penalties.
This raises an obvious question: What is the point of choosing a legacy carrier like Lufthansa and paying a premium if passengers are subjected to this kind of petty, low-cost gate behavior? This approach shows a disappointing decline in service quality and a complete lack of respect for loyal customers.
Horrible customer service or lack thereof
The lady working LH127 T Ferenz is extremely rude and unwilling to help people. I was at the gate 20 minutes before to see if I could swap my flight because I will miss my next connection. She was unwilling to help and extremely rude. A lady needed help asking about her flight and she REFUSED to help her. I had to help her and explain. Very very poor customer service. I will do anything I can to avoid flying lufthansa in the future because of this experience.
Terrible flight changes post payment
