I strongly advise you NOT to use this…
I strongly advise you NOT to use this Enterprise location, I am another victim of false damage claim on a vehicle that they cannot prove and yet are still trying to bill me for. Terrible customer service, inappropriate car seats for size of children... I can go on... ! I wish I had read others revies sooner they are all indicative of my expereince.
RENTER BEWARE!!
RENTER BEWARE!!
I am not writing this out of anger only with hopes to prevent others from making this same mistake. This rental agency (Enterprise, Alamo and National) is extremely corrupt. Small scratches get billed for many thousands of dollars - obscenely more than any repair cost. Our family rented two cars and ended up with $12,000 of damage charges. BEWARE - DO NOT rent from these people.
Their business model is fleecing foreign tourists with crazy repair fees.
(for those wondering, my credit card company is refusing to cover any of this and they are also difficult to deal with. I wonder how much credit card companies actually cover for this - people rely on them but they usually deny coverage and bury you in requirements)
DO NOT RENT from these people.
Enterprise/ Alamo thieves at Geneva airport
Enterprise/ Alamo at Geneva airport. Nothing but thieves. I checked the car so carefully on collection. On returning the car the guy produced a torch, and found a scratch on an alloy wheel so quickly, he knew it was there ! It’s a mark 5mm x 5mm on a black wheel. I did not do it! They’ve now taken 400 CHF from my credit card.
How many times do they do this scam? Never use them.
CRIMINAL Enterprise in Switzerland.
When I arrived, Enterprise told me they did not have my 5 seat car but would give me a FREE upgrade. They originally gave me a car that had dents and scratches on every panel and they expect you to document it, in a dark garage. I refused to take the car but that was the only one they had. I could not stand driving it any longer so I returned it after 10 days it was a five seater not like it was an upgrade it was so badly scratched and dented I would call it a downgrade. They later gave me a Honda CRV 5-seater for the remaining 19 days, pretty much what was similar to what I had rented. I dropped it off and saw my credit card bill was roughly $570.00 more than I expected. I got the bill only to find out they billed me for the upgrade. When I said I never agreed to pay for an upgrade, they sent me the bill with my signature saying I signed for it. Although I provided my signature, I was directed to sign on a black electronic signature pad that displayed no pricing or agreement details. I was never shown an upgraded price or asked to approve an additional charge, because I would not of. This was FRAUD by Enterprise and they never get back to you to answer any questions your complaint.
Also when I brought back the car, they claim to have found a 1/2" scratch on the plastic underneath the driver side mirror. Who would of saw that in a dark garage. When reading the reviews someone else complained about a similar scratch. Who knows how many times they use these hidden scratches to take advantage of their customers. They charged me 375 CHF. DO NOT USE THIS RENTAL AGENCY, they are Criminals. Somebody must do something to protect US citizens renting from Enterprise and there illegal ways.
Extremely disappointing experience with…
Extremely disappointing experience with Enterprise Zurich Airport – I feel completely misled and unfairly charged.
I hired a car from Enterprise at Zurich Airport and, because I wanted to make sure I was fully covered against any accidental scratches or damage, I paid for their highest level of insurance/cover.
Before returning the vehicle, I took photos of the car to document its condition. The car was returned in what I believed to be perfect condition, with no damage caused during my rental.
Despite this, I was subsequently charged €500 to my card. When I disputed the charge, I was told that the reason was supposedly a scratch on the roof of the vehicle.
This is extremely frustrating. Firstly, I did not cause any damage to the vehicle and certainly did not notice or make any scratch on the roof. Secondly, I had specifically paid for the highest level of cover because I wanted protection against exactly this sort of situation. I was then told that my level of cover did not cover damage to the roof.
I find the whole situation extremely concerning. I have photographic evidence of the vehicle, although unfortunately I did not specifically photograph the roof, as I had absolutely no reason to believe I would need to prove the condition of the roof afterwards.
I feel that I have been unfairly charged €500 for damage that I did not cause, despite taking out their highest level of insurance/cover.
I would strongly recommend that anyone hiring from Enterprise photographs every single part of the vehicle, including the roof, underneath the car and areas you would never normally think to photograph, and carefully checks exactly what their insurance actually covers.
For me, this has completely undermined my trust in Enterprise. I would expect a company of this size to provide clear evidence of when and how the alleged damage occurred, rather than simply charging a customer €500 after the vehicle has been returned.
Very disappointing experience and one I would not want other customers to have.
Bad experience
Always had good experiences with Enterprise. This time they charged me 415 CHF for a car with no damages over 2 weeks after we returned the car. Bad service!
FRAUD-Enterprise
FRAUD. We hired a car from Alamo. The checkout report DID not include the damage we noticed on the car. We took time stamped photos of the damage in the Car park approx 15mins after we had picked up keys in airport. Approx a week after we returned home Enterprise told us they would be taking 1700CHF from credit card for damage we had caused. On inspection of their photo it was exactly the same damage as we had photographed at the pick up. Money has been taken from Credit Card. We have had no response even after submitting the photographic evidence. The number +410848445522 is useless. It merely refers you to a website. THIS IS A DISGRACE. Do not use this company.
I rented a Car with Enterprise at…
I rented a Car with Enterprise at Geneva Airport through an online portal Expedia
Rental was from June 21st to June 23rd 2026.
I fulfilled my obligations paid on check in at the airport counter
Returned the car full tank on 23rd at Geneva airport Car Park
Received a confirmation via email with no issues.
Suddenly in August I get an email from Enterprise/Alamo collections that I owe money to them. Was surprised as I did not and contacted Enterprise and gave them the relevant information.. Instead of reviewing the inputs ( I save all papers always), they sent it to collection in Germany who will only tell you they recd bill from enterpise and I owe them money for what. Petrol when I return was full and nonissues in return and also have bill of fuel.firm. The bill was for 88 litter of petrol 158 chf for a small Opel Corsa FwD that has max capacity 45 liters. Where did tenaing 49 kitres go. Probably to the corporate office billings car pool. There own bill states F in and F out. Yet the bill sent to collections was modified to return column blank.
Need i saw more. In the US it will be a class action suit.
Moral bewar of enterprise in Switzerland. Do not rent. NEVER.
This is second time. Corporation needs ethics training and all staff at the returns counter must be changed as they all are part of bad culture.
Customer service at corporate absolute disaster. They dont read emails. Random responses.
For a 66 chf rental for 2 days 158 CH. Petrol bill . They think we will push the car empty to the garage to return the car. JOKE OF A COMPANY. GO
HERTZ, a good firm.in Geneva. Airport
Basel Airport Scam
Stay away, while it bears the name "Enterprise" note that it is a franchise and wholly untrustworthy. When we handed in the car, damage was spotted. They issued a claim for 637 CHF and issued documentation. However, they didn't charge us this amount, they took the full security deposit (1000 CHF) plus 67 CHF with no reasoning at all. As others have said, this franchise is a scam and I warn others against using it. I have opened a case with their customer service nearly 3 weeks ago and despite following up many times, they have not responded at all.
Defrauded us out of a damage fee
Defrauded us out of a damage fee, despite damage being uploaded before the rental.
Damage to the car was clearly photographed and uploaded to their own portal before driving the car. On return they charged EUR 1500 despite clear evidence. On complaint wouldn't reverse the charges despite time stamped metadata being provided, along with video and photo evidence of the damage. Complete bandits, rent with Hertz instead.
Out airline lost our car seat, they said "too bad" and said to buy one elsewhere. Hertz gave us one to borrow for free. Terrible location, I was a car rental area manager for years, ive never seen such terrible service.
Enterprise Basel Airport are an Embarrassment to Themselves
Within 30 seconds of arriving back at the airport with the car, the Enterprise employee announced that there had been 'a change in condition to the car'. To be absolutely clear we had not damaged the car in any way. Out came a fluorescent pen that he used to circle some random marks (that amazingly he had instantly identified as being new, despite there being 21 existing damages listed on the rental sheet). These 'new damages' were photographed and the damage report sent off to head office. Rather too hasty, because the circled area (that they have subsequently charged us for) was found to be dirt that was easily removed leaving the circled area with nothing inside it. Despite the fact that the eagle-eyed Enterprise man circled the dirt at the front of the car, our £565 bill is apparently for damage to the rear bumper. There are no photos to support this fabricated claim because at no time was the fluorescent pen applied to the rear bumper. They tell you that the 'damages' will be reviewed by their 'experts' meaning that the so-called expert has produced a £565 damage claim for a rear bumper and supported this claim with a photo (of dirt) from the front wing of the car. Clearly the 'expert' doesn't know one end of a car from the other.
Mr Enterprise inspector man also opened the door of the car to check the fuel and in doing so smacked it into the adjacent rental car. What an absolute plank! No doubt some poor unfortunates will be billed for this at a later stage.
Bottom line - they are out to con you. They are waiting with their set piece script to identify 'new damages' if you haven't purchased their extra insurance. I will never rent another car from Enterprise ever again. In over 20 years of car hire we have never once been charged for damaging a car and now here we are being charged for not damaging a car.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!
AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!! If I could leave a zero rating, I would. Gave them the option to check the car after it was returned and I was told it was fine and we could go. A week later we receive a £375 charge for a scratch on the wing mirror which was not even visible on the photo they supplied. They rip you off so don't go there!
Extremely disappointing experience
Extremely disappointing experience – no responsibility taken at any stage
My experience with Enterprise Switzerland was disappointing from beginning to end.
I had booked and prepaid a specific vehicle directly with Enterprise and provided my flight details. When my flight was cancelled, I tried four times to call the telephone number stated on my Enterprise booking confirmation during normal business hours. I could not get through to anyone.
When I eventually arrived at Zurich Airport with two small children late at night, Enterprise had already given my reserved vehicle to someone else. I was left with the choice of paying considerably more for a BMW or taking another vehicle. Before accepting the BMW, I specifically asked twice whether it had at least as much luggage space as the vehicle I had originally booked. I was assured that it did. This turned out to be incorrect. I therefore paid more money for a vehicle that was actually less suitable for my family.
Enterprise initially even claimed that I had booked through a third party. Only after I challenged this did they acknowledge in writing that I had booked directly with Enterprise and prepaid the full rental.
The problems did not stop there. The replacement vehicle later suffered an electrical failure while I was driving on the Autobahn with my two young children. The car went into emergency mode and was limited to around 30 km/h. I managed to leave the motorway and contacted the roadside assistance number provided by Enterprise. Enterprise later confirmed in writing that contacting Roadside Assistance was the correct thing to do and acknowledged that the vehicle had suffered an unexpected electrical breakdown.
Despite this, Enterprise subsequently charged me CHF 350 for the roadside assistance because I had not purchased their optional Roadside Assistance Protection. The problem was an electrical fault with their vehicle – not something caused by me. The roadside assistance invoice itself described the incident as “Elektrik”.
Throughout the entire process, I felt that Enterprise made very little effort to find a reasonable solution. They did not compensate me for the vehicle they had given away, the incorrect information about luggage capacity, the expensive upgrade, the unusable telephone number on their own booking confirmation or the disruption caused by the breakdown.
Instead, after all of this, I was presented with another CHF 350 charge because their vehicle broke down.
I have repeatedly tried to resolve the matter directly with Enterprise and provided them with detailed explanations and documentation. At no point did I feel that they genuinely tried to meet me halfway or take responsibility for the overall customer experience.
I have rented cars many times before, but this has been one of the poorest rental experiences I have had. Based on how Enterprise handled both the original rental problems and the subsequent breakdown, I would be very reluctant to rent from Enterprise Switzerland again.
This company needs to be investigated…
This company needs to be investigated by the police and the Switzerland government ASAP!!! They are stealing money from customers by submitting fraudulent and erroneous damages claims after the customer returns the car. The damages were there BEFORE the customer drove the car and they know this and do not care. They are scamming people. INVESTIGATE THIS COMPANY IMMEDIATELY SWITZERLAND GOVERNMENT!!! PERFORM A FULL INVESTIGATION!!!!
Charge for damage that will never be repaired
The car rental went ok until we landed at home to an email about some damage to one of the wheels, in fairness it was our fault. The problem was that they then charged £389 to fix the very light damage, but after a follow up email it was clear that their “internal matrix” didn’t need it to be repaired at this time. So I have been charge for a repair that will never happen, a total scam. Really wish I had seen these reviews before hand, lesson learnt for next time!!! Zürich Airport!
Be very careful with this company
Be very careful with this company. We returned the car after 4 days, then a week later they emailed us claiming we had caused a tiny scratch and charged us around £600.
What concerns me even more is that after looking through other reviews, I noticed many other customers reporting similar experiences with unexpected damage charges. It makes you seriously question whether customers are being charged huge amounts for damage they didn’t cause.
We strongly dispute this charge and are demanding evidence that we actually caused the damage.
Extremely disappointing experience from…
Extremely disappointing experience from start to finish.
The first car I was given had serious tire problems and did not feel safe to drive, so I had to go through the inconvenience of returning it. Even then, the car was put through damage control as though I might somehow have been responsible for the faulty tire, and I was made to feel as though the company was doing me a favour by not charging me.
The replacement car also had visible tire issues and existing body damage.
Now I am being accused of causing a chip in the windscreen. The only photograph they have provided is ridiculously unclear, and I have disputed the damage and asked for proper photographs. I also have my own photograph from the day of the rental showing a visible mark on the windscreen.
What makes this even more unacceptable is that the company actively advises customers to photograph the vehicle carefully at collection, yet when you actually use those photographs to dispute one of their claims, they do not even bother to respond.
You cannot get through to customer service by phone, my emails regarding the dispute have gone unanswered, and instead of reviewing the situation properly, they are simply taking €500 from my card.
This is an appalling way to treat customers. I would strongly advise anyone renting from this company to photograph absolutely everything — the windscreen, tires and every part of the bodywork — but unfortunately, based on my experience, even having photographic evidence does not guarantee that anyone will actually listen to you.
I certainly would not use this company again.
Avoid at all costs
Avoid at all costs.
I should have checked here before renting with them. Similar to a lot of other reviews, I rented a car off them, took photos on collection, queried one scuff but was told it was outside of their 'circle marker' which they base damage from. On returning the car, the person picked up on this scuff, claimed it wasnt in any of the evidence I have and marked it down. My credit card has since been charged and after several back and forth with them, they are refusing to accept. I dont have any issues if the damage was genuine, but reading several other reviews, this seems to be a common practice from them. I have now been told there is nothing further to be done and if I want to take it further I will have to go externally to challenge it via small courts claim.
The practices of this company need investigating asap as its clear this is a common practice to profit from.

Horrific experience so far, avoid !
Horrific experience so far. DO NOT USE ENTERPRISE SWITZERLAND. They are trying to charge me £347 for a scratch on the roof of the car that existed prior to pick up as confirmed by their own check out report.
Do not trust them and do not use them no matter how ‘nice’ the staff may come across in person. Evidently from the 1.2 star rating they have within Switzerland, they should really be out of business due to such appalling customer service.

These guys are basically criminals that keep charging their customers for previous damage. Do yourself a favour and avoid Alamo National Car rental run by AG Helvetic at all their Swiss locations. Trust me I have paid the price and now you have been warned!
