Why half my points?
I book through the avois app when merchants are boosted (6x) - only for 6 months later they say it was only on 3x and they half the points. What’s the point of boosting if you try to half the points and think we won’t notice? Then the customer service is just an automated email, absolutely terrible. BA please look into your avois partners and use someone who actually care about your points. There are thousands of negative reviews here.
Absolute scam of an organisation
Absolute scam of an organisation, staffed by vindictive people who I can only presume receive incentives for doing anything and everything possible to prevent customers having any benefit from accumulated rewards. Nothing has ever convinced me NEVER to fly BA again than this scandalous so called rewards scheme
Customer service is really poor
Customer service is really poor. All via WhatsApp. Getting to actually speak to someone seems impossible. I had 3 people trying to understand an issue and had to explain it each time. It was not resolved. BA should be embarrassed.
I would give this company No stars
I would give this company No stars if I could-There is no way to update your email address on the App-they have just erased 156000 points because they said that My account had been ‘locked due to Hacking’ and no one has contacted me since (that was in July) I am now left with less than 30 points.
I really don’t understand the point of…
I really don’t understand the point of having the Avios E Store you buy things you get given your points, then months later and I am talking sometimes 4 months later they get taken away. I have had them taken away when I have not returned the item, not used a discount code and they still remove them. It’s a complete waste of time. Complained about one almost 3 months ago and still no response.
on hold for 20 minutes
on hold for 20 minutes, they couldn;t hear me as issue with their line. They hung up
Avios - A useless Airline Points Scheme
Avios must now be the most pathetic and useless airline points scheme. Collected points over the last few years via my BA account, but now I come to want use them it seems impossible. After numerous attempts to link my BA and Iberia accounts to transfer points to Iberia, so I can book a flight, I just get a message saying my account is blocked due to suspicious activity. No explanation! This is after I spent last couple of weeks making sure the details on the two airline accounts match perfectly, but to no avail.
The marketing slogan for Avios should be "You can collect them, but you can't use them."
Astounded AMEX still have a marketing collaboration with AVIOS. I will be changing my credit card to collect something I can actually use.
Incompetence galore
I booked a stay at Accor hotel (of which I am a member), via the Avios app. At the time of booking there was an offer of eight Avios per pound spent. My booking was for £135, which would equate at that rate to 1080 Avios points. A week after my booking, I received an email informing me that my “39 4 Avios are on their way“.
As I was expecting the for mentioned 1080 Avios, I immediately got in touch with Avios to query this calculation. I have still as of 14th September not received an adequate response as to where the Avios may be and why they were miscalculated. I have sent the requisite information concerning my booking the email receipt the amount spent a screenshot of my credit card and various other information as requested by Avios and have sent this on five separate occasions. I have also queried why I have to send this information again and again and again, because the implication is that the Avios team have mislaid it though how this is possible given that it was attached to an email which should easily be transferable, God knows.
I have subsequently tried to contact the missing Avios’s team via the telephone number, but each time I asked to speak with an agent the automated system (after having responded to the automated system cues) keep sending me a link to WhatsApp urging me to contact the WhatsApp team who will be able to assist, before cutting me off.
The WhatsApp team are completely incapable of helping as I have tried to resolve this issue with them on a number of occasions, but they have repeatedly told me to try and phone the missing Avios team using the requisite number.
I am sick to death of the continued inefficiency that this organisation displays. Given that the calculation of Avios and the awarding of Avios is surely automated, it beggars belief that this sort of thing can happen.
Further, the level of “service“ is beyond a joke.
*UPDATE*
A month on from this review, and I’d love to be able to report some progress, but as this is BA/Avios, no such luck. I did receive a.response, granted, but this was to request that I send my supporting documents *again* (for the 5th time) because they’d been mislaid 🙄🤦♂️🤷🏻♂️
Appears to be designed to be as unhelpful as possible
Booked and paid for car hire through Avios. Flight date was changed by airline so needed to modify car hire booking. This cannot be done direct with car hire company - they say it needs to be done through Avios. Avios chatbot unable to process. Hung up after 40 minutes on the phone with no feedback provided on position in queue. You couldn't do much worse if you deliberately set out to design a customer 'service' experience to be as useless and annoying as possible.
Incredibly hard work
So using the avios app to collate as many points as possible ahead of a big trip next year. I spent £308 with whistles advertised at 10 points per £1, so should award 3080 points. Visit tracked, points never went to pending. Contacted Avios to report missing points after time period and provided receipt date and time stamped in app.The full points went to pending and I was told 28 days to resolve. A week later I get an email requesting proof of purchase - I provide again. Now I get told the same thing, we have moved to pending and will investigate in 28 days only this time they’ve only given 2568 points I query and get told T&Cs mean purchases with gift cards aren’t valid. I did not use a gift card and I didn’t purchase one, both items purchased were full price and paid for with card as receipt very clearly shows, delivery was free. I’ve gone back again…..waiting next response but this far too much work for a simple enquiry with full evidence provided surely. Poor service and not what you expect from avios/BA.
The Avios referral system is completely…
The Avios referral system is completely broken, and their customer service is an absolute useless.
I followed every single rule for their "Refer a Friend" program: used a referral link, installed the app, and made a qualifying purchase on the exact same day. The purchase tracked, but then the app glitched out completely and showed a backend error message saying "We have had an unexpected error processing your referral".
Instead of fixing their own IT bug, they trap you in a never-ending loop of incompetent customer support. I have wasted hours talking to multiple chat agents who admitted it’s an internal system error, promised a manual review, and said it could take up to 30 days.
Then out of nowhere, they send a generic, copy-paste automated email telling me to clear my browser cookies and send 4 screenshots of the process.
Are you kidding me? This is an internal backend bug in your own app, not a cookie issue on my device! I have already uploaded the screenshots multiple times.
When I confronted the chat support about this useless automated response, they basically told me they couldn't do anything and just ended the chat.
I have now been forced to file a formal complaint. Avios makes it intentionally difficult and exhausting to get the bonus points you are rightfully owed, clearly hoping customers will just give up.
Absolute garbage system and non-existent customer relations.
Voucher process failed and no response from support
I tried multiple times to use Avios to obtain a voucher before making a booking, but the process repeatedly failed with an error.
I tried on different devices and browsers, including both desktop and mobile, with exactly the same result. In the end, I gave up and booked the ticket without the voucher.
The WhatsApp support is a virtual agent which didn't work. There is no number to call for urgent issues.
I then had to email support to ask what had gone wrong and, importantly, to confirm that no Avios had been deducted despite the voucher never being issued. I have still not received a reply.
Technical problems happen, but when they result in a customer losing the opportunity to use a benefit and there is then no response from support, it is extremely frustrating.
I would still like confirmation that no Avios were deducted and an explanation of why the voucher process failed.
They restricted my account for 30 days…
They restricted my account for 30 days because its a new, worst service ever. I transferred more than 100,000 points, and now I am unable to use them. Dont recommend at all
Waste of time booking business flights with companion vouchers and Avios
I find trying to book flights with Avios absolutely frustrating on the BA Executive Club website. seriously considering abandoning the BA Amex card as its all well and good accumulating Avios and companion vouchers but trying to book flights with them often leads to you giving up. Not only is there poor availability of business flights, the booking part of the exec club website constantly falls over and leads to you abandoning searches.
Please don’t waste your time !
Please don’t waste your time !
Big scam. You can’t use these on flights, or hotels. Been on the phone 3 hrs, waste of time and money
Horrendous customer service
Horrendous customer service. They only seem to read half of your e-mail, if that, and ask follow up questions you've already answered. They will go out of their way to avoid awarding you the points they owe. They hope you will just give up.
Absolute rubbish
Absolute rubbish, can never use the app it never opens, cannot log in via desk top as it constantly states connection errors, shower of shite and i bet they do this deliberately to cash in on people getting fed up with the attempts, not good enough and id avoid at all costs using this service, not worth the effort in any capacity
Very disappointing experience
Very disappointing experience. My Avios were removed because the purchase was supposedly cancelled and refunded, but I never returned the item and never received a refund. I still have the item and am actively using it.
To make matters worse, when I tried to submit a claim for the missing Avios, the app stated that my claim could not be processed because there were no cancelled or declined purchases on my account. This directly contradicts the reason given for removing my Avios.
Decided to use their Shop to buy stuff…
Decided to use their Shop to buy stuff in exchange to Avios. Wait time on the item page: 2 weeks. Ok. Waited for 3.5 weeks, kept getting updates like “it will be shipped tomorrow morning”. Ridiculous! How can they make such direct false promises again and again? Completely worthless experience, you just waste your time with them. No item, no money, and no Avios.
This points going worthless
This points going worthless, BA devaluation following others, time to cancel credit cards for avios
