About me

After two decades as a Engineering Director in Google Search working on Search Quality, Recommendation Systems, and Growth, I now write with curiosity, clarity, and a bias toward what matters most.

Why subscribe?

What YJ Thinks will always be free. Subscribe to get essays and reflections at the intersection of fast and slow - AI, crypto, and frontier tech on one side, trail running, family, and the practices that make life meaningful on the other.

I have also turned parts of my Substack into a book (March 2026). 33 essays, 10 chapters, 3 stories you can’t read here, 0 subscribe buttons. It’s called “Thrive (Don’t Just Survive)” and it’s pay-what-you-want. If you’ve been reading along, you already know most of it. The book just puts it in order and adds some parts which I hadn’t told yet. Get it here.
