Transporting Pets (Dogs and Cats)
The transportation service for animals in the cargo hold will be subject to prior evaluation and approval, considering the pet's weight, aircraft type, schedule, pre-booked cargo, available space in the cargo hold, and flight duration.
In some situations, even after confirmation, pet transportation may be altered or rejected due to flight schedule adjustments, aircraft changes, and other adverse conditions that could compromise the animal's health.
Every analysis, measure, and decision aims to protect the pet's health.
Additional Rules by Country
The CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) restricts the entry into the United States of dogs from countries with a high risk of rabies transmission, such as Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela, or those that have been in those countries within the last six months prior to entering the country. In these cases, the dog must meet the indicators requirements:
Depending on the country where the dog was vaccinated, there are entry restrictions and additional requirements may apply:
Point of entry: Animals may only enter the United States at airports that have an Animal Care Facility (ACF).
Important:
Dogs from countries not on the high-risk list for rabies, such as Argentina, Chile, Paraguay, and Uruguay, must meet the following requirements:
Please note: If your itinerary includes a connection in a country with a high risk of rabies, such as Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru, your dog must meet the origin requirements for those countries even if you do not leave the airport departure lounge.
If you're traveling to or from New York or Boston between December 15 and April 25, you won't be able to bring your pet in the cargo hold due to the low temperatures during those months. However, you can bring their company in the cabin, provided they meet the transportation requirements.
The Agricultural and Livestock Service (SAG) has updated the regulation for importing dogs and cats under Resolution No. 3.343/2026 (and its amendment No. 5.444/2026), which fully replaces the previous regulations.
There are new deadlines and mandatory conditions for issuing the International Veterinary Certificate (CVI), clinical examinations, vaccinations, and antiparasitic treatments. To view the full details of these requirements and avoid fines or entry rejection for your pet, please review the Chile Pet Regulation Guide here.
Dogs and cats are not accepted on flights arriving or departing between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM (effective from 01/06/2025).
Dogs and cats are not accepted on flights arriving or departing between 3:00 PM and 12:00 AM.

Poultry less than 72 hours old
Poultry (chickens, turkeys, geese, or ducks) younger than 72 hours old are extremely sensitive to temperature and humidity. For this reason, the container in which they are transported must meet the specifications established for Container 19 of the IATA Live Animal Regulation (LAR).
During periods when the temperature exceeds 24°C (75°F), the number of birds inside the box must be reduced by 10%.
Dangerous Goods
All dangerous goods must comply with ICAO/IATA regulations for the air transport of dangerous goods. Below are the specific requirements:

High Value Cargo
Due to the security logistics involved in this type of cargo, new customers must accept the conditions and responsibilities for its transportation.
This is formalized through a document that our commercial department will share with the customer.
Among the necessary conditions for transporting valuable cargo, it is established that the cargo must be picked up with an armored truck in the authorized area next to the aircraft. Additionally, international shipments on PAX aircraft must not exceed 10 million USD.
It is essential to comply with the cargo delivery times.
The packaging for this type of cargo must comply with the following guidelines:
Canvas sacks may be authorized for the transport of legal tender banknotes, traveler?s checks, bonds, shares, coupons, stamps, bank or credit cards, raw materials for passports/identity cards, and doré metal, provided that each sack has its respective seal or security tag.
Doré metal will be considered valuable cargo only if its origin is Chile, Brazil, or the U.S. Unlike other cases, it is not subject to a maximum transport amount. Its transportation can be carried out in resistant sacks mounted on a pallet or a base that distributes its weight.
Perishable Cargo
Perishable cargo is accepted according to IATA's Perishable Cargo Manual, with different handling procedures based on the type of perishable items being transported, including wet cargo, horticultural products (fruits, vegetables, flowers, and plants), and animal products.
While the packaging requirements vary depending on the type of perishable product, the following general standards must be met:
Wet Cargo Packaging:
For seafood and fish, containers must be leak-proof or made leak-proof by using polyethylene sheeting (0.1 mm thick). Expanded polystyrene boxes with wet ice are commonly used.
Seafood Packaging Example:
Seafood transported with wet ice must be packed in expanded polystyrene containers with sufficient thickness as follows:
If seafood releases large amounts of fluid, wrap it inpolyethylene sheeting, and place an absorbent pad at the bottom of the container.
Meat Packaging Example:
Meat shipped with dry ice packed in waterproof, leak-proof containers or containers made waterproof through the use of polyethylene sheets.
Packaging Guidelines:
Labeling Requirements:
Additional Note:
Note on Wet Products Packaging:
If using containers other than polyurethane or expanded polystyrene (e.g., particle board, corrugated cardboard), ensure they meet the same leak-proof and moisture-resistant requirements.
Dry Ice (Solid Carbon Dioxide):
Dry ice, classified as hazardous material, is subject to IATA's Hazardous Materials Regulations. Special care must be taken to comply with restrictions on dry ice amounts due to aircraft ventilation limits.
All perishable cargo must be clearly labeled and marked to ensure proper handling:

Coolants:
Isolating Materials:
Meat is accepted in waterproof, leak-proof containers, or in containers made waterproof through the use of polyethylene sheets. All shipments must adhere to the sanitary regulations of the countries of export and import.
Example of proper packaging and labeling of a meat shipment cooled with dry ice.
Note: The outside of the box must be labeled with the type of product contained, i.e. "Frozen Meat", "Chilled Meat", or "Fresh Meat".

Required Packaging for Cargo Acceptance
Proper packaging not only protects your product but also ensures its acceptance without issues. Follow these key recommendations for safe and delay-free transportation:
By following these guidelines, your cargo will be safe and ready for transportation without setbacks.
Human Remains
For the transportation of non-cremated remains, it is essential to ensure that all necessary safety and respect conditions are met.
The remains must be contained in an inner urn made of lead or zinc, hermetically sealed. This urn must be internally lined with a sufficient absorbent material and placed inside a wooden coffin.
The coffin, in turn, must be protected by an outer packaging, which can be:
To ensure proper transportation, the packaging must include sufficient absorbent material between the coffin and the outer layer, as well as sturdy handles that facilitate handling with due respect and care.
The packaging must include the following labels and marks:

Other
Some types of cargo hide the presence of dangerous products due to their nomenclature and/or shape. The risk may not be explicit in the shipment of samples for tests or diagnoses originating from laboratories, clinics and hospitals, whether for humans or animals.
Biological materials are potentially dangerous and must be packaged so that leaks do not occur and resist the regular conditions found in air transportation (impact, temperature changes, pressure and other conditions).
For each type of material there is a suitable type of packaging and all the packages determined in the regulation include triple conditioning.
To obtain approval for transportation, the shipment must:
Approved monitoring devices
Ensure compliance by declaring all approved monitoring devices in the "Handling Information" section of the air waybill.

How To Complete an AWB for Pharma
Properly completing the air waybill (AWB) for pharmaceutical shipments is crucial to ensure compliance with international standards and the proper handling of the cargo.
A well-completed AWB facilitates efficient acceptance of the shipment, reduces the risk of temperature excursions, and ensures that the cargo arrives in optimal conditions at its destination.
According to chapter 17.8 of the IATA Temperature Control Regulations (TCR), the AWB for temperature-controlled pharmaceutical cargo must include:
