About Tsering Dorji’s Newsletter
Having studied Buddhism in both monastic and academic settings for over twenty years, I have spent the past three years focusing on body-oriented yoga within Tibetan Vajrayāna Buddhism. During this time, I have been developing and refining an approach to engaging ancient Tibetan yogic texts that is rigorous in scholarship while remaining reverent in spirit.
In this newsletter, you will find English translations of classical Tibetan yoga texts, presented alongside the original Tibetan. All translations are my own and are not published elsewhere.
From time to time, I also share research articles exploring the historical development of yogic practices within the Tibetan Buddhist tradition. One such article examines new evidence for the use of complex yoga postures in Virūpa’s Tibetan Amṛtasiddhi prior to the later Haṭha Yoga texts ‘Yoga Posture and Forceful Yoga: Tibetan Amṛtasiddhi Texts by Amoghavajra’ published in Journal of Yoga Studies.
