Hello, dear friend,
Welcome to You Are Not Alone — a space for reflection, honesty, and gentle truth-telling, written by published author Tracey Fenner.
A Substack for women in midlife who want to feel strong, steady, and at home in their bodies
This is a space for thoughtful, embodied writing about midlife — the quiet reckonings, the changing body, and the desire to feel capable, grounded, and at ease in ourselves again.
I write for women who have achieved a great deal and are now noticing that the strategies that once worked so well no longer support them in the same way. Fatigue lingers. Recovery takes longer. The body asks for a different conversation.
Here, we slow that conversation down.
Each week, I share reflective essays that explore strength, nervous system regulation, ageing well, and what it means to live with the body rather than constantly pushing through it. This is not about fixing yourself — it’s about listening, adapting, and building resilience from the inside out.
Every essay ends with a ‘Moving Inwards’ section — a gentle, practical pause to help you reconnect with your body in everyday life.
Above all, this space exists to remind you: you are not alone.

ABOUT ME
I’m Tracey — a movement teacher, published author, and holistic physical conditioning coach with over 30 years of experience working with the body.
I run a private, highly personalised movement and conditioning mentorship for high-achieving women aged 45+, working in-person or online by application-only. I am based in Somerset, England. Find out more about my private practice here. My work blends strength training, mobility, posture, joint-preserving movement, yoga flexibility, and somatic awareness to support women through the physical and nervous-system changes of midlife.
It’s not therapy, and it’s not gym-based fitness. It’s intelligent, lifestyle-led movement that helps women feel strong, confident, and supported as they age.
You Are Not Alone is the written expression of everything I care about — embodied wisdom, honest self-inquiry, and learning how to meet life and the body with steadiness, trust, and compassion.
Thank you for being here.
With warmth,
❤️ Tracey Xx
FEATURED ESSAY TO SHOWCASE
Solitude vs. Loneliness — a piece about how being alone can either deepen connection with self or leave us feeling isolated, depending on how we meet ourselves in those moments.
Solitude vs. Loneliness
I am drawn to bring these two words Solitude vs. Loneliness together as I write today. Both are acts of being alone but with very different feelings and outcomes. Solitude is a choice and can be fulfilling, whereas loneliness is an unwanted feeling of isolation and disconnection.

WHY SUBSCRIBE TO YOU ARE NOT ALONE
There are many wonderful newsletters out there. Here, I share reflections and insights I don’t share anywhere else — shaped by 30+ years of embodied practice and working closely with women navigating change.
Together, we explore:
how to listen to the body’s signals
how to adapt intelligently in midlife
how to build strength without force
how to feel rather than fix
how to move through change with steadiness and self-trust
Being human means feeling deeply — the awe, the discomfort, the growth, and the quiet satisfaction of discovering what actually supports us now.
Thank you for showing up here.
It’s an honour to share this space with you.
With warmth,
❤️ Tracey Xx
