Greetings, fellow bookworms!
“I am looking for someone to share in an adventure…” — Gandalf the Grey
My name is Thomas Salerno—writer, podcaster, museum educator, and lifelong storyteller. Welcome to Pageturning—my author newsletter where I share my adventures writing narrative nonfiction for kids and teens. I’m passionate about the the power of stories to educate, entertain, and inspire readers of all ages and backgrounds. I am the author of the debut children’s book The Riddle of the Tongue Stones (Word on Fire Votive, 2025).
I’m also a contributing author with the Voyage Compass book imprint from Voyage Comics & Publishing. I enjoy writing about the intersection of popular culture and theology, tackling subjects such as The Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, and Marvel Comics. I also compose essays and interviews for the online journal Evangelization & Culture Online from Word on Fire.
I grew up on a lively concoction of Spielberg movies, superhero cartoons, classic science-fiction, and J. R. R. Tolkien. I hold a BA in anthropology from Stony Brook University and I worked for many years in the fossil collections of the American Museum of Natural History in New York City. I currently work at Raynham Hall Museum on Long Island as an educator teaching American History to school groups and the general public.
Every month I release The Pageturning Report: a general round-up of my latest writing and podcasting adventures, plus special behind-the-scenes info about my latest works-in-progress. Stay tuned for special bonus posts filled with writing advice, creative inspiration, and nerdy bookishness.
I’ve also set up a paid tier for those who wish to financially support my work. Paid subscribers will gain access to my full archive of posts.
Thank you for joining me on this adventure!
