Why I’m Here

I’m Becky, a labor and employment attorney by day and the writer of Credibility and Chaos by night (and sometimes 3 a.m., because that’s when no one friekin’ needs me). I’m a mom to a 5-year-old, and I represent employers, yes, the ones usually cast as the villains, but also the ones with the power to do better.

Right now my work sits at the collision point of law, leadership, and lived experience, including my own as a mom to a young child, a boss, and an employee. So I write and I practice law to question what happens when systems confuse policy with integrity. I’m interested in truth, especially the inconvenient kind, and in how ordinary people survive inside institutions that were never built with them in mind.

As a writer, I try to translate that reality into something people can feel. I use law as the setting, not the subject, a backdrop for exploring credibility, chaos, power, and humanity. Because the stories we tell about work, motherhood, and ambition shape the rules we live under.

And I practice law because, for all its flaws, it is still one of the few arenas where those rules can be challenged, line by line, case by case.

Why subscribe?

I created this space because I needed somewhere honest to write from—the messy middle of motherhood, law, leadership, and burnout. Writing is how I process.

And I know I’m not the only one.

Most of what I share here is free, because I want anyone who needs this to find it.

If you subscribe (either free or paid), here’s what you’re supporting:

  • A Latina, first-gen lawyer writing what no one taught us in law school

  • A working mom telling the truth behind the curated highlight reels

  • Tools, resources, and strategies to help women advocate for themselves

  • A space built on real empowerment—not branding, not performance

You're also helping me carve out the time (and boundaries) to write, reflect, and offer what I wish I had when I was burning out behind my resume.

If you can support it by buying me a coffee, I’m grateful. If not, I still want you here.
There’s space for both.

But if you’ve ever read something and thought, “God, I needed that”
That’s really what I’m here for.

You belong here. Especially here. Keep showing up.
And thank you.

What happens when the systems meant to define us start to distort us instead? It's sometimes essays, sometimes fiction, but always about what it costs to stay human in a world that feeds on performance.
