About Connection Pending
Network-building 101 — or "how to win friends and influence people" for the digi-generation. Interviews, hacks and recommendations.
At its core, networking hasn’t changed much: good communication, genuine curiosity, and listening more than speaking will always win. But the way we connect has evolved. Connection Pending explores how to thrive in this new landscape—whether you’re building a personal brand, dealing with imposter syndrome, or diving into the 100 Connections Challenge. Networking gets an admittedly deserved cringe reputation, but it’s really not much more than making friends with the right people, helping others as much as you can, and keeping an eye out for opportunities when they arise.
This is where we unpack the art (and science) of connection: from who to meet and how to meet them, to building your own ecosystem and creating those right-place-right-time moments that spark opportunity, whatever your goals in work of life. Expect interviews with people who do it best, practical hacks you can put to work immediately, and recommendations on tools, events, and strategies to grow your own network.
About Phoebe
I’m the co-founder of Social Capital, a global platform connecting brands, people, and places through content, events, and consultancy, which I run alongside my partners in crime Hannah Rinne & Lauren Hall.
From London to Sydney, my speciality is creating right time, right place situations through partnerships, events and editorial strategy. Everything from high-touch intros, curating guest lists and facilitating game-changing connections, to building full ecosystems for brands in new cities around the world.
Raised in Frankfurt, Paris, Amsterdam and London, I’ve spent my adult life bouncing between the same cities, substituting Frankfurt for Berlin, for obvious reasons. I recently moved to Sydney for a bit of sunshine and an MBA. I’m kicking off 2026 with a six month stint in NYC, but I’m usually based between Paris and Amsterdam with my husband Storm, and our Frenchie Remy (named after Remy Danton in House of Cards, not the rat in Ratatouille…).
Let’s work together 💬
I help brands define their voice, sharpen their point of view, and show up with relevance in new and existing markets. I’ve been particularly loving brand editorial strategy recently, working on Substack strategy for startups and legacy brands.
This includes:
working with your (or our!) design team to create assets for Substack
Substack set-up, welcome emails, about pages and footers
content series creation
managing editorial end-to-end, from writing and editing, to conducting interviews for the brand Substack
If you’ve got some ideas brewing that you’d like to bring to life in 2026, let’s chat!
