UPDATE: I previously said ‘Goodbye Substack!’ for a variety of reasons. Alas, I’ve returned to this space via a calling to publish my musings—albeit with less ‘constraint’—once more.
G’day, I’m Nate. I originally created this publication as a way to detail the practicalities of my philosophical work attempting to design more trustworthy organisations that do real good in the world. But it’s since evolved, rather naturally, to become a far more diverse and authentic exploration of the living process that is me.
I now aim to publish philosophical, poetic, emotive and very ‘real’ musings that relate to my living enquiry into what is real, what can be known, what matters and how we should act as beings in the process of becoming.
These musings may speak to my Applied AI Ethics work, my role as a Philosopher in Residence, my role as a philosophical counsellor or my teaching. But they may not. They may bypass such frames entirely, expressing something that cannot be captured through the inherently limiting lens of any ‘functional role’ (something I often attempt to do through my work as an artist).
So, consider this an invitation into a shared sense-making process. One that both grounds and enlivens. One that encourages big feelings and clearer thinking. One that breaks us down just as much as it build us up, recognising the former is typically necessary for the latter. One that speaks to the courage we all must cultivate to truly live.
