Hej :) I am an American living in Nyköping, Sweden.

This space is a personal relocation diary told through food, culture, and the quiet work of starting a new chapter.

I want to be clear, this is *not* a food only substack. But, there *will* be recipes. Good ones. And likely a lot of Swedish ones. But a space to share life stories of transition, culture and the ins and outs of finding the right path.

How I got here:

I am proudly from Minnesota! I attended University of Minnesota in Duluth before realizing I didn’t actually want to directly use my business degree (although, no regrets. College was lots of fun!)

Instead I moved to New York City to attend culinary school, and figure out my way into food media. I spent ten beautiful years there— making lifelong friends, personal growth and achieving job titles most people dream about.

Turns out NYC wasn’t really my place—Baking and Sweden were calling.

I quit my NYC life with absolutely zero remorse. Ta-ta!

I went to Sweden to bake— something I joked (because I didn’t really think I’d actually do it…) about doing for YEARS. I spent over 5 months there in 2025 and in the midst of it all—I fell in love with a sexy Swedish man! And now I moved to Sweden to live with him. Woohoo!

Sweden has always held a special place in my heart— which i’ve come to find is a bit difficult to explain to people. But one thing is easy to mention - it’s literally my blood.

Committing to moving across the world isn’t a decision to take lightly— but people do it everyday. And now, it’s my turn.

Follow along? I hope you do! It’ll be a little cheesy, sometimes serious, often deep but mostly real.
