Hello chuck!
Welcome to my Substack, I must admit to being on a steep learning curve on this new (to me) platform, but it seems to be the perfect space to record this slightly surreal period in my life.
You see, my daughter has flown the nest (sob!) and I have recently left a thirty year career in art education.
To be honest, it doesn’t seem real.
I find that I’m re-defining so many areas of my life (and identity) and the fact that I am working as a full-time ‘artist’ seems utterly incomprehensible.
I feel so lucky to be able to give my life-long dream a chance, I want to document it in a much more satisfying and reflective way and I miss the good old days of blogging.
Stay up-to-date with my shenanigans!
My Substack studio journal will be messy, there will be crossings-out and mis-spellings, doodles and scribbles but you are most welcome to have a peek over my shoulder…
I’ll write about the things that inspire me, inklings that are starting to germinate, work that is progressing (or not!) and generally anything else that feeds into the world of Bertimus.
Let me introduce myself…
How rude of me!
My name is Letitia and I live in a tiny village in the North of England.
I have worked under the name of Mrs Bertimus now for quite a few years, I love to write daft stories, paint characters and anything else that takes my fancy. I often combine abstract elements into my work as well as figurative subjects, but village life and folk lore always seem to seep in.
I sell original artworks, art prints and paper/ textile printed goods in my online shop and I share my studio with a very naughty chihuahua whom I love very dearly.
