Why is marketing so hard?
Most marketing advice is written by people who work at places where “budget constraints” mean choosing between Cristiano Ronaldo and Taylor Swift for their Super Bowl ad. Sorry, been a slow year, you can’t have both.
There’s not a lot written about how to grow brands from nothing. We love Les Binet and Peter Field, so we try to take what they write about big brands and distill it into things startup marketers can do today.
Here are some cathartic ramblings from an early stage marketer
Who’s writing this stuff?
Mostly Tom Davies. He used to run marketing at Yonder, a credit card startup in London, and previously worked in marketing at Monzo and Wise. Really got a thing against big banks.
He now runs Brandingo, the always-on brand tracking tool for startups.
