minor genius is an imprint founded by host/editor elliot aronow.

this is its publication form: a recurring column, archive, and house organ for the larger minor genius world — essays, zines, event recaps, field notes, and evidence from what we are building in public.

readings, parties, conversations, objects, images, jokes, clothes, spirit, signal.

if you found us, you probably belong.

the writing here is short, regular, and more like a column in a zine than a newsletter business. posts appear about once a week, sometimes every ten days, depending on weather, voltage, and how annoying the internet feels.

come for the posts, stay for the hot takes on oxford button-downs.

you can go deeper

paid members get access to the full minor genius archive, plus occasional physical goods, zines, shirts, pins, experiments, and other artifacts when the spirit moves.

eventually, this may also become home for video magazine material, private drops, and other minor genius transmissions.

no fake community theater. no guru bunker. no “exclusive access” cosplay.

just a deeper seat at the table.

nice to meet you.

i’m elliot aronow.

i’ve spent the last twenty years making things in and around culture: shows, columns, magazines, zines, rooms, clothes, brands, scenes, and the occasional tasteful problem.

some of it appeared in places like GQ, Esquire, The Wall Street Journal, Billboard, Bloomberg, Fast Company, VICE, and Playboy.

some of it involved people like LCD Soundsystem, The Strokes, Mark Ronson, and Michael Imperioli.

all of it, regrettably or not, led here.

minor genius is the part where the taste, jokes, clothes, ghosts, friends, records, rooms, and hard-earned pattern recognition finally sit at the same table.

if you fell the pull, the door is open.

don’t just sit there.

evolve.

with gratitude,
Elz
