“I always look forward to opening Eva’s newsletter. It’s one I recommend to all of my friends who love travel and design! She curates such incredible content that is relevant but not trendy, interesting but not dense… It’s like having a smart, cool, well-traveled friend in your inbox.” — Brynn Grover
Who’s Writing This Thing?
I’m Eva—a veteran designer, author, traveler, mother, and creative director/producer (who studied art back in the stone age). I’ve lived in France, Belgium, California, Ohio, and now live in a beautiful little corner of the Utah mountains with my filmmaker husband and our two kids. As a lifelong Francophile, travel lover, and insatiably curious researcher, friends and family have always come to me for travel tips and planning. Writing my book and then creating a company that hosts intimate art + design focused group trips (at my readers’ request) was a natural evolution and culmination of everything I had done before.
Plus, I’m a people person. It absolutely love to celebrate local artists, artisans, and designers, to connect like-minded travelers on our by Design trips, to strike up a conversation with a flea market vendor or boulangerie owner, and to share stories with readers like you.
If you’re curious, you can also find me here on Instagram and over here pinning interiors, dreamy travel photos, and clothes I want to buy. (Oh, and this one is strictly for my fellow design-loving Francophiles.)

About 2 editions a month.
Access to the full archive, including design travel guides (created after extensive on-the-ground scouting).
My enormous gratitude for supporting this work, and all of the days, weeks, and months of research and pavement pounding that go into them, not to mention the years of experience backing it all up.
Where are the years of archives from when you were on Squarespace?
There wasn’t a way to import the newsletter archive from Squarespace into Substack. And doing it manually is VERY time consuming. I know, bummer. But I thought it would still be worth it and helpful to have the most informative and relevant newsletters over here in this archive for you to be able to easily reference.
Here’s the solution I’ve landed on: Once in awhile as a bonus, I’ll find a past newsletter edition that I think you’d want included in the archive and I will post it to Substack, with improvements. In addition to fixing any broken links or outdated references, I’ll make updates that add even more value. For instance, for this post, I combined two past newsletters into one, added almost 20 new tracks to the playlist, and added a bunch of links to wardrobe items in the Packing Style: Françoise Hardy section.
This is in addition to the completely new editions I’ll be sending out as well, which will also become a part of the archive, of course.
Sound good? Feel free to let me know what you think!
Pull up a chair, there’s always room for one more at the table. I’m so glad you’re here.
Take care out there,
x Eva
p.s. If you can’t afford the $6 a month to subscribe, let me know and I’ll give you a few months for free, no questions asked.
