Every year we work with local partners and volunteers to purchase and distribute fresh vegetables, meats, vegan items, rice, potatoes, and other Thanksgiving staples to our neighbors at NYCHA’s Amsterdam Houses.
Preparations have already begun, and we’re asking for your generous donation to help us purchase items.

When you support the New York Society for Ethical Culture, you become an integral part of our rich history promoting progressive values, furthering social justice, and giving voice to those who otherwise might not be heard.
Your contribution may go to support our social service programs, advocacy efforts, youth and family programs, public programming, building restoration and universal access, or any number of other areas.
The Social Service Board is a 501(c)(3) non-profit service organization affiliated with the New York Society for Ethical Culture that leverages grants and other resources to provide direct services to marginalized and underserved people in New York City. SSB builds listening relationships to develop responsive programs that alleviate the symptoms of systemic injustice to promote a more compassionate city.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, the SSB has mobilized to help our Upper West Side neighbors at NYCHA’s Amsterdam Houses and Harborview Terrace senior community. They’re collecting and purchasing food and other household items that they then drop off each month.
So far they’ve collected and purchased thousands of pounds of necessities to help residents, and we’re asking everyone to pitch in.
The Ethical Culture Institute at the New York Society for Ethical Culture was founded by the NYSEC Board of Trustees on February 26, 2025. The purposes of the ECI start with the commitment to promote the Ethical factor in all aspects of life through: educational forums; research; publications; and other means to preserve and disseminate the intellectual history of thought of the Ethical Culture Movement.
