General
Efiwe is a mobile-first, AI-powered coding education platform that lets anyone learn to code directly on their smartphone. No laptop is required, no constant internet connection is needed, and no prior coding experience is necessary. Instead of watching videos or reading long textbooks, you learn by doing: thousands of bite-sized coding challenges that feel more like a game than a classroom, with an AI tutor that watches what you type, works out what you got wrong, and gives you instant, personalized guidance.
Efiwe launched on August 16, 2025 and now offers eight programs: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Tailwind, Python, SQL, PHP, and Prompt Engineering. You can go from your very first line of HTML to writing professional Python, querying real databases with SQL, building server-side applications in PHP, and directing AI to build secure, scalable software, entirely on your phone. The core platform is 100% free, works offline, and is available in 246 languages plus sign language.
Most coding platforms assume you have a laptop, fast and affordable internet, English fluency, and money for subscriptions. Efiwe assumes none of those. It runs on any smartphone, works fully offline once loaded, supports 246 languages plus sign language, and keeps its core platform free. Learners without a smartphone or data can even learn by SMS through Efiwe Zero.
Efiwe also offers AI-driven personalization. Its AI tutor runs on your phone, so feedback is instant even with no connection, and it adapts hints and difficulty to your own error history and pace. Gamified challenges, streaks, badges, and a full leaderboard keep you motivated, and verifiable QR-coded certificates turn what you learn into something an employer can check.
Yes! Efiwe is specifically designed for beginners, even if you have no prior coding experience. The platform guides you from scratch, teaching you the basics of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Tailwind, Python, SQL, PHP, and Prompt Engineering while building your skills through interactive challenges. Learning Modes also let you go through every challenge in order, skip topics you already know, or pick only the challenges you want.
Open your phone's browser, go to efiwe.com, and create a free account. If you have never coded before, start with HTML; otherwise pick the program that matches where you are. Complete your first challenge and the AI will guide you with instant feedback. Once the platform has loaded, you can keep learning offline.
If you are on a metered data bundle, choose Efiwe 1.5 from the AI model dropdown, or download one of the on-device language models over Wi-Fi once and use it offline from then on (SmolLM2 360M or LFM2 350M are good starting points). You can also download an offline Read Aloud voice from TTS settings. When you want to build something of your own across multiple files, open the Efiwe IDE at efiwe.com/ide.
If you would rather learn inside a messaging app, send "hi" to the Efiwe WhatsApp Business number or Facebook Page, or open t.me/EfiweLearnBot on Telegram. No account is needed. MTN Nigeria users with a basic phone can text 'EFIWE' to 34461.
Efiwe has reached 22,337 learners across 159 countries (as of October 13, 2026) since its launch on August 16, 2025, growing from 188 users in 37 countries on day one and more than 2,000 active users from 76 countries within its first two weeks. The platform continues to grow organically through word-of-mouth, government and NGO partnerships, and successful pilot programs with schools across Africa and Asia.
Efiwe was founded by three people. Chidi Nwaogu (Co-founder and CTO) is a full-stack engineer and MEST Africa alumnus who began coding at 13 and co-founded LAGbook, a social network that reached over a million users and was acquired in 2013. He built the Efiwe platform from the ground up. Abhinav Negi (Co-founder and CEO) is a social entrepreneur and public policy leader with an MSc in Public Policy from the University of Edinburgh, who ran residential coding bootcamps in remote Himalayan villages. Precious Eboh (Co-founder and Chief Partnerships Officer) leads institutional relationships, pilots, and distribution in emerging markets.
Chidi and Abhinav met in 2019 at the Better Together Challenge in South Korea and later realized they had witnessed the same problem from opposite sides of the world: brilliant students held back not by a lack of talent but by a lack of laptops and reliable internet. At the edtech academy Chidi directed, 80 students enrolled and only 6 graduated. That gap became Efiwe.
Yes. In March 2026 Efiwe was recognized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) as one of the world's most innovative AI education startups through the UN-backed AI for Good Innovation Factory. That same month it was shortlisted for the 2026 Africa Prize for Engineering Innovation by the Royal Academy of Engineering, alongside 15 other innovators from 11 African countries, with a live final in Johannesburg in October 2026.
In August 2026 Efiwe was named to TechCrunch's 2026 Startup Battlefield 200, the publication's annual handpicked list of the 200 most promising early-stage startups in the world, and is exhibiting at TechCrunch Disrupt at Moscone West in San Francisco on October 13 to 15, 2026. The same month, Efiwe received an ElevenLabs Grant, which now powers the human-sounding voice behind Read Aloud.
Efiwe has also been selected for HundrED's Global Collection 2027, accepted into the ninth cohort of Builders of Africa's Future (African Diaspora Network and African Management Institute), and selected in July 2026 as one of 12 startups in the 2026 Mastercard Foundation EdTech Fellowship implemented by CcHUB, which comes with $100,000 in equity-free funding. In September 2026, Efiwe was selected for Google for Startups Immersion EMEA, delivered in partnership with Antler, and joined NVIDIA Inception, NVIDIA's program for startups building with AI.
Because generating code is not the same as understanding it. AI tools are very good at producing code that looks right and often runs on the first try, but when something breaks (and in software something always eventually breaks), you are left staring at output you never learned to read. You cannot debug what you do not understand, and you cannot judge whether a result is secure, efficient, or even solving the right problem.
Efiwe is built to produce understanding rather than output. You write real code, submit it, and get feedback that connects each mistake to the underlying concept, so you build mental models instead of pattern-matching. As AI-generated code becomes more common, the ability to read, evaluate, and reason about that code becomes more valuable, not less. There is also a practical point: prompt-based AI tools assume a stable connection, a capable device, and comfortable English. Efiwe assumes none of those.
Every major design decision in Efiwe is grounded in peer-reviewed research. Studies show that learning apps built specifically for mobile devices, rather than shrunk-down desktop software, produce meaningful improvement (effect score 0.523). A review of over 5,000 students across 49 experiments found gamified learning produces an overall improvement score of 0.822, with an effect on motivation of 2.206, and motivation is the primary reason people drop out of coding programs. Combining game rules, game action, and game feel, as Efiwe does, scored 1.285. Research also found that students learning offline improved more than those learning online or in mixed settings.
Efiwe's own results match. In a focus group of learners who completed the entire HTML program, 89% rated the experience excellent or perfect, 89% felt confident building websites independently afterwards, 96% said the platform ran smoothly on their device, and 100% said they would recommend Efiwe to a friend. Traditional online coding programs lose 70–80% of their students. In that group, Efiwe lost none.
Features
Efiwe's offline AI runs entirely on your phone, needs no internet connection, and sends no data to the cloud. It began as Efiwe 1.0, a lightweight TensorFlow model, and has since been upgraded to Efiwe 1.5 and 1.5.1. It personalizes your learning by:
- Prioritizing errors and giving feedback based on what is most important to focus on.
- Predicting the best hints based on your previous interactions and coding mistakes.
- Adjusting typing speed for instructions based on your monitored learning pace and the challenge's difficulty.
- Adjusting text-to-speech (TTS) volume, pitch and speed based on the complexity of the content.
Since October 2026 you can also download a small language model that explains hints and diagnoses in fuller, more conversational language, still entirely on your phone.
Efiwe's on-device AI was built by retraining Google's TensorFlow Handpose model, which was originally trained to compare hand shapes in camera images. Instead of recognizing hands, it now recognizes the output of code. When you submit, Efiwe runs your code and the correct solution side by side and compares what each one produces, whether that is a webpage layout, a number, or a piece of text. If there is no difference, you are marked correct. Because it judges the result rather than demanding identical wording, you are rewarded for solving the problem your own way.
If the results do not match, tap Diagnose Issue. The AI then goes line by line through your code to find exactly where it departs from what is needed and explains the problem in plain language, for example that a closing tag is missing or a value was spelled differently. Because all of this runs on your device, you get instant feedback even with poor or no internet, without paying for data.
Yes! One of the key features of Efiwe is its ability to work offline. Once you've loaded the platform, you can turn off your internet and continue learning. All AI-powered features, including feedback, error detection, and hint suggestions, will still function without an active internet connection. This is especially useful for those in areas with limited or expensive internet access. Since April 2026, full offline caching means you no longer have to visit each page in advance: the moment you land on any Efiwe page, the platform quietly caches every other page in the background (lessons, challenges, dictionary entries, blog articles, fonts, styles, and scripts) with no prompts, downloads, or configuration. Open Efiwe once on a strong connection and you can then navigate the entire platform offline, including pages you have never opened before.
Since October 2026, you can also download an on-device language model for fuller tutor explanations and a natural offline voice for Read Aloud, so the richest parts of the experience no longer need a connection either.
Efiwe's voice-based learning uses text-to-speech technology to deliver audio instructions, feedback, and hints, making coding accessible to learners with limited reading skills. You can follow challenges and guidance in 246 different languages, so learning isn't restricted by text or literacy. The AI also adjusts speech speed and tone to match the complexity of the content, ensuring explanations are clear, engaging, and easy to follow. Read Aloud uses a human-sounding ElevenLabs voice when you are online, and since October 2026 you can download a natural offline voice that works with no connection at all.
Read Aloud speaks lesson introductions, task descriptions, hints, and diagnostic explanations out loud. Since August 2026, following an ElevenLabs Grant, it uses a natural, human-sounding voice instead of the robotic voice built into your browser or phone. As it speaks, the current word is highlighted on screen so you can follow along, and on mobile the page scrolls with the reading.
The premium voice is unlimited for Efiwe Pro subscribers and members of Group Pro and Group Pro Plus. Everyone else, including learners who are not signed in, can use it once every five minutes, with a downloaded offline voice or your device's voice filling the gap in between.
Since October 12, 2026, you can download a natural-sounding offline voice from TTS settings. It reads lessons, tasks, hints, and diagnoses with no connection, and keeps word highlighting, pause, resume, and stop. The first voices cover English, French, Spanish, Portuguese (Brazil), and Portuguese (Portugal). Each voice is about 63 MB, plus about 30 MB once for the shared voice engine, and can be removed at any time. Read Aloud follows this order: the ElevenLabs voice when you are online and have a premium read available, then your downloaded offline voice, then Android's voice, then your browser's voice. When an offline voice is used, the text being read never leaves your phone.
Voice-to-Code is a hands-free feature that allows you to write real code using natural speech directly inside Efiwe's editor. Unlike standard dictation tools, the system is optimized specifically for programming and recognizes coding-focused commands such as opening and closing tags, inserting attributes, adding punctuation, and formatting code. This feature is particularly helpful for learners who code on mobile devices, operate in low-resource environments, or prefer speaking over typing.
Sign This and Sign-to-Code are AI-powered accessibility features that enable learners to interact with code using sign language. Sign This transforms written code instructions, tasks, and explanations into sign-language–friendly interpretations, helping learners understand syntax and structure in a more natural and visual way. Sign-to-Code allows learners to write code hands-free by signing characters, symbols, and common programming constructs using their device's camera. The system recognizes gestures in real time and converts them directly into executable code inside Efiwe's editor.
No! Both features work seamlessly within Efiwe's existing mobile editor, requiring no external tools or hardware. Voice-to-Code activates automatically on supported browsers with microphone access. Sign-to-Code only requires your device's camera and is accessible directly from supported coding lessons.
Efiwe is available in 246 languages, making it accessible to learners around the world. You can read or listen to instructions, tasks, hints, and feedback in your local language for a more immersive learning experience. Sign language is supported too, through Sign This and Sign-to-Code. The same languages work across every surface where Efiwe runs: the main platform, the Open API and JavaScript SDK, the WhatsApp, Messenger, and Telegram bots, and Efiwe Zero.
Battery Saver Mode is an intelligent feature that automatically optimizes Efiwe's performance when your device's battery drops to 10% or below. It disables resource-intensive typing animations, suppresses confetti effects (at challenge completions, milestone bursts, badge unlocks, and leaderboard celebrations), silences sound effects while preserving your original sound preference for when the mode deactivates, disables automatic code panel and preview scrolling, and freezes CSS animations and transitions platform-wide, all while maintaining full learning functionality, so you can keep coding even when your battery is critically low. On Android devices and supported browsers, it activates automatically. On iOS and other platforms, you can manually toggle it on through an always-visible button.
Efiwe's Adaptive Difficulty System uses AI to monitor your performance in real-time and automatically adjusts challenge difficulty in both directions. If you're struggling, the system keeps lower thresholds, allowing solutions that are 70 to 90% correct to pass depending on your error history, so you keep moving forward with confidence. If you're excelling, the system progressively raises standards, eventually requiring near-perfect code. This bidirectional approach ensures you're always learning in your optimal zone: never too frustrated, never too bored.
AR Preview allows learners to visualize their HTML creations in augmented reality, projecting code output into the physical world around them through their device's camera. Instead of imagining what their code produces, learners can literally see it appear in their environment. This makes the connection between writing code and seeing results more concrete, more memorable, and more engaging, especially for beginners.
Efiwe's leaderboard shows every learner their exact rank among all users on the platform, not just the top ten. Whether you're ranked eleventh or one thousand two hundred and thirty-first, that number is real and moves whenever you make progress, so it stays meaningful even if you're not at the very top.
Co-Learner Visibility shows a small banner on every challenge letting you know which other learners are working through the exact same challenge at the exact same moment: not as a competition, but as company. It's there because the moment learning starts to feel lonely is often the moment people stop.
Learning and Challenges
Efiwe offers thousands of interactive coding challenges across eight programs, broken into easy, intermediate, and advanced tiers. Each challenge gives you one task at a time, with a worked example, clear guidance, and instant AI feedback at each step. As you progress, you build a real project, whether that is a website, a Python program, a database, or a server-side PHP application.
Each of the seven coding programs ends with a capstone project: a written brief you build from scratch in the Efiwe IDE, with no worked example. The Prompt Engineering program ends with a capstone of its own, in which you run a secure, scalable feature end to end.
If you get stuck, Efiwe's AI steps in as your personal coding tutor. It analyzes your code and provides helpful hints, suggestions on what to do next, and even adjusts feedback based on how often you've encountered specific issues. The AI is designed to help you learn from your mistakes and move forward without getting frustrated.
Efiwe tracks your coding progress and adapts to your learning style. The more you interact with the platform, the more the AI understands your strengths and weaknesses. It adjusts the difficulty, feedback, and pace of challenges to ensure you're constantly challenged but not overwhelmed.
Since October 2026, Efiwe also keeps a learning history of how you move through each program: when you started each challenge, each attempt that did not pass, when you completed it, and any skips, resets, mode changes, and restarts. The clock only runs while a challenge is on screen, so a locked phone or closed browser stops it. Activity without a connection is kept on your device and sent once you are back online and signed in. The history is private: only you can add to and read it, nobody using the app can change or delete it, and it is removed if you delete your account. It shows Efiwe which challenges take longest, which is where the programs most need to improve.
Progress is saved accurately whatever you do. A reset challenge loses its points and stays reset after a refresh, and solving it again restores them. A skipped challenge that you go back and solve counts as completed, and a reopened challenge is never counted until it is actually solved.
Each time you complete a challenge, Efiwe gives you instant feedback and tracks your achievements. Since October 2026, your learning path is always in view as a labelled button that shows where you are, for example "Learning path · 12 of 191". Under every challenge title, a short summary shows your level, how many challenges you have completed, and the previous, current, and next challenge. You can fold it away with "Hide" and bring it back with "Show".
The full list, titled "Your learning path", marks each challenge as Done, Skipped, You are here, or Next, groups challenges by level, and shows levels still to come as locked. On a wide screen the path stays open beside the program, and in Explorer mode everything counts only the challenges you chose. Streaks, badges, levels, and the leaderboard add a gamified experience, so you'll feel motivated with each completed challenge.
Efiwe offers eight interconnected programs covering HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Tailwind, Python, SQL, PHP, and Prompt Engineering. The HTML program (191 challenges) teaches web page structure, CSS (298 challenges) covers styling and design, JavaScript (488 challenges) adds interactivity, Tailwind (154 challenges) teaches professional utility-first styling, Python (420 challenges) covers back-end development and the language powering AI and data science, SQL (251 challenges) teaches you to work directly with real data by writing queries that run against a live in-browser database, and PHP (435 challenges) teaches you to build the server side of the web. Prompt Engineering (200 challenges) is the first program to teach a skill rather than a language: how to direct AI to build real, secure, scalable software.
Together, these programs give you a complete foundation in front-end development, back-end logic, data, and building with AI, entirely from your smartphone.
While you can access any program, we recommend following the order: HTML → CSS → JavaScript → Tailwind → Python → SQL → PHP → Prompt Engineering. The front-end trilogy (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) gives you the complete foundation for building interactive websites. Tailwind then elevates your styling to professional, industry-standard practices. Python opens the door to back-end development and the world of AI and data science, SQL teaches you to work directly with the data itself, and PHP ties the front of an application to the data behind it. Prompt Engineering then teaches the skill that now sits on top of all of them: directing AI to build software you can trust.
That said, some programs are designed to stand on their own. Complete beginners can start SQL from a single SELECT statement, and Prompt Engineering is open to learners at any stage who are building with AI, whether or not they have completed the other seven programs.
Yes! Efiwe now offers eight programs: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Tailwind, Python, SQL, PHP, and Prompt Engineering, which launched on September 15, 2026. A program on React is planned for the coming months, based on learner demand. If you have suggestions, send them to product@efiwe.com. We build Efiwe based on learner feedback and the skills that lead to real opportunities in tech.
Efiwe's SQL program is our sixth program, built around 251 challenges across three difficulty tiers (66 easy, 102 intermediate, 83 advanced). It runs real SQL directly inside your browser using sql.js, a full SQLite database compiled to WebAssembly, so every query you write executes against a real table, and if a query is wrong, the error is real too. The program starts from a single SELECT statement and builds up to filtering, sorting, aggregating, joins, subqueries, creating and modifying tables, indexes, and the kind of query patterns professional developers use every day.
The on-device AI validation engine performs a deep structural comparison of each submission, catching typos in column and table names, missing or misplaced clauses, wrong join conditions, and reordered conditions. For challenges that build on a table you created or modified earlier, the engine always checks your work against the table's current state, not a fixed snapshot. Complete beginners are welcome, and the program pairs naturally with Python for anyone moving into back-end and data-driven development.
Efiwe's PHP program is our seventh program, built around 435 challenges across three difficulty tiers (157 easy, 182 intermediate, 96 advanced). That makes it the second largest program on the platform after JavaScript. It starts with a single echo statement and builds steadily through variables and types, arrays and array pipelines, string handling, loops, functions and scope, regular expressions, dates and times, superglobals and form input, object-oriented programming with classes, interfaces and magic methods, custom error handling, file and directory operations, input validation, cookies and sessions, and output buffering. By the final challenges you are building API response formatters, notification systems, and template renderers.
Woven through the program is a set of debugging challenges that hand you a broken program and ask you to work out why. These appear deliberately at every difficulty level rather than as an afterthought at the end.
The engine runs real PHP directly inside your browser using php-wasm, a genuine PHP 8 interpreter compiled to WebAssembly, so every submission is executed by PHP itself and every parse error is a real PHP parse error with a real line number. Each challenge and each preview gets its own fresh interpreter instance, so nothing leaks between challenges and every run starts from a clean state, exactly as it would on a server. For this launch the validator was rebuilt around order-preserving sequence alignment, so an extra line near the top or a missing step in the middle no longer knocks the comparison out of sync and triggers a cascade of errors that were never really there.
PHP suits learners who have completed HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and SQL and want the piece in the middle that ties the front of an application to the data behind it. It is also the first program in which you write code that runs on a server rather than in a page. Complete beginners are welcome; the program starts from a single echo statement.
Efiwe's Prompt Engineering program is our eighth program and the newest addition to the curriculum, launched on September 15, 2026 at efiwe.com/prompt. It is built around 200 challenges across three difficulty tiers (60 easy, 60 intermediate, 80 advanced), and every challenge is a prompt to write, not a video to watch.
The program starts with a single instruction to an AI and builds through prompt fundamentals (specificity, inputs and outputs, examples, constraints, and failure behaviour), prompting common product features, onboarding an AI to an existing codebase, and planning before code. The advanced half covers reviewing AI-written code and spotting invented functions and packages, security (permissions, sessions and tokens, hashing, SQL injection, rate limiting, leaked secrets, and prompt injection), usability, offline behaviour, scale, cost, monitoring, and deployment, ending with a capstone that runs a secure, scalable feature end to end.
Because two very different prompts can both be excellent, there is no single reference answer to compare against. Efiwe built an on-device validator that checks whether your prompt contains the ingredients that correlate with good code, so every challenge works fully offline and in all 246 supported languages. Every prompt you get right is saved to your personal Prompt Library for reuse on real work. Learners who complete the program earn a verifiable certificate as a Junior, Mid-Level, or Senior Prompt Engineering Developer, depending on points earned.
Since September 18, 2026, you can choose how to move through any program before you begin. Beginner takes you through every challenge in order. Skipper keeps the same order but adds a Skip button, so you can pass over topics you already know. Explorer shows every challenge title up front and lets you pick only the ones you want to attempt. Explorer has no permanent Skip button, but after three failed attempts or four minutes on one challenge, an option appears to remove it from your list.
Skipped challenges earn no points, but the project you are building is still filled in ("completed for you"), so your finished website works the same either way. You can switch modes at any time from the Mode button in the top bar.
Since October 2026, switching modes never costs you your progress. Points, badges, completed challenges, and your certificate stay exactly as they are, and only the rules for the challenges still ahead change. Moving into Explorer keeps your completed work on your list, so you simply choose from what is left. If you have already finished your Explorer list, you are taken straight to your next unfinished challenge, and refreshing after any mode switch returns you to your next unfinished challenge rather than the end of the program.
A mode chosen at the very start of a program is saved reliably, even on slow connections. In Explorer, the search box filters challenges as you type; pressing Enter keeps the results, and a message appears when nothing matches. Restart is a clean start: it begins on your first chosen challenge and carries over no skips from a previous attempt.
Yes. Since September 18, 2026, Efiwe's reference dictionaries for HTML, CSS, Tailwind, JavaScript, Python, SQL, and PHP live inside the challenges themselves. Any tag, property, class, function, or keyword named in a challenge is tappable: press and hold on a phone, or double-click on a computer, and a panel opens with the full explanation, without leaving the page. The seven dictionaries hold more than 3,200 entries, and roughly ten thousand mentions across the seven coding programs work this way. Only real terms light up, not ordinary English words or your own variable names, and a Dictionary button in the top bar still opens the full reference pages. Prompt Engineering is the only program without a dictionary.
Yes! Efiwe is available directly inside WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, and Telegram. Simply send a "hi" to the Efiwe WhatsApp Business number or the Efiwe Facebook Page, or search for @EfiweLearnBot on Telegram (or open t.me/EfiweLearnBot), to start solving coding challenges with AI feedback, with no account creation or downloads required beyond the messaging app itself. Telegram's technical flexibility means the bot supports rich inline keyboards, formatted code blocks, all five difficulty modes, and all 246 supported languages, selectable via an inline pagination keyboard or by typing a language code directly.
For learners with no smartphone or internet, Efiwe Zero brings coding to basic feature phones via SMS. MTN Nigeria users can text 'EFIWE' to shortcode 34461 to begin interactive coding challenges. Standard SMS rates apply, but absolutely no data plan or internet connection is required.
Yes! In July 2026, Efiwe secured its first formal partnership with a government education authority: Lagos State's Education District IV. The partnership brings structured coding education to five government senior secondary schools (New Era Girls SSS, Government Senior College, Eric Moore Senior High School, Itolo Girls SSS, and Surulere SSS), running one school per month from August through December 2026, with at least 30 selected students per school attending weekly two-hour sessions using Efiwe's HTML, CSS, and JavaScript programs entirely offline and on-device.
The first cohort, at New Era Girls' School in Surulere, was assigned one program: all 191 HTML challenges. Forty-one girls went on to complete 12,323 challenges and earn 1.87 million points across six programs. Twenty-one finished every HTML challenge, ten cleared all 298 CSS challenges, and four completed all 488 JavaScript challenges, mostly during break periods, after school, and at home on shared phones.
In August 2026, Efiwe also partnered with the SkillUp for the Future Initiative (SUFF Initiative) to bring mobile-first coding education to secondary school students, young women, and underserved youth across Bauchi State. This builds on Efiwe's earlier Teach For Nigeria pilot, an eight-week structured coding programme across ten schools in Lagos and Ogun State, as well as school pilots in Uttarakhand, India, and Lagos, Nigeria. Efiwe is working with Education District IV to expand to additional schools this term. If your school, NGO, or government body is interested in a similar partnership, reach out to product@efiwe.com.
AI and Personalization
Efiwe's AI personalizes your learning by analyzing your coding behavior and progress. For example:
- It prioritizes error feedback based on common issues you encounter, so you get the most important advice first.
- It adjusts the typing speed based on your learning pace.
- It changes the TTS settings depending on how complex the content is.
The AI's hints and feedback are designed to be as accurate as possible. Efiwe's machine learning models are trained to identify common coding mistakes and suggest the best next steps based on your previous actions. The more you use Efiwe, the better the AI becomes at understanding your learning style and adapting accordingly.
While the AI is designed to be accurate, it's not perfect. If the AI makes an incorrect suggestion or feedback, you can mark it as resolved and continue. The system learns from user interactions, so over time, it becomes more accurate and better at predicting the most helpful hints and adjustments.
Efiwe 2.0 is our next-generation AI model that delivers smarter code validation and sophisticated, context-aware diagnosis. Unlike generic feedback systems, Efiwe 2.0 analyzes your code with greater precision, identifies specific issues, and provides explanations crafted specifically for beginners. It understands your intent, not just what you wrote, and helps you understand not just what went wrong, but why it happened and how to fix it, transforming mistakes into meaningful learning moments. While Efiwe 1.5 thinks faster, Efiwe 2.0 thinks longer for better precision.
Efiwe 2.0 is powered by NVIDIA Nemotron. Nemotron 3 Ultra and 3 Super handle complex debugging and long code, while faster models such as Nemotron 3.5 Lightning and 3 Nano Omni back them up, with a routing layer picking the best model for each request. Free learners can use Efiwe 2.0 once every five minutes; Efiwe Pro subscribers and members of Group Pro and Group Pro Plus have no cooldown.
Efiwe 2.0 is available only when you're connected to the internet, providing enhanced feedback across all coding challenges. However, Efiwe continues to work fully offline. The moment your connection drops, Efiwe falls back automatically: first to an on-device language model you have downloaded, if any, then to Efiwe 1.5, our on-device TensorFlow-based AI. This means you can always keep learning, even without connectivity.
Efiwe 1.0 is our original offline model that works without internet, ensuring accessibility in regions with limited connectivity. It has since been upgraded to Efiwe 1.5 (April 2026) and Efiwe 1.5.1 (July 2026). Efiwe 2.0 is our advanced cloud-based model that delivers more detailed, contextual code diagnosis and beginner-friendly guidance when you're online. The 2.0 model is particularly valuable for complex JavaScript challenges where understanding error context can make the difference between frustration and breakthrough. Both work seamlessly together, with automatic switching based on your connection status, so a learner with intermittent internet still gets genuinely helpful feedback while a learner with a stable connection gets the enhanced 2.0 experience.
Efiwe 1.5 is an upgrade to the Efiwe 1.0 on-device AI model. It shifts from basic error detection to smarter error explanation, with more human-like feedback running fully offline. New capabilities include typo detection, wrong unit checks, missing semicolon and return statement checks, off-by-one number detection, and wrong operator identification, all without any internet connection. Efiwe 1.5 also grades every submission and supplies the facts that downloaded on-device language models explain, so it remains the backbone of Efiwe's offline experience.
Efiwe 1.5.1 is a further refinement of the offline AI tutor, requiring no update or setup from learners. Typo detection now points to the exact letters at fault, extended beyond tag and property names to variable names, string values, and comments. A smarter, similarity-weighted comparison judges short and long answers more fairly, curly "smart quotes" pasted from Word or Notes are normalized so you're never penalized for a formatting quirk, and the model separately checks for missing closing brackets, unclosed tags, quote-style mismatches, and reordered CSS class values. On the Python side, it unpacks single-line "shortcut" code the way a human tutor would, gives exact indentation counts, flags missing colons, catches outdated Python 2 syntax, and detects = vs. == mix-ups in conditionals.
Yes. Since July 2026 a dropdown beneath the challenge controls lets you choose between Efiwe 2.0 (cloud) and Efiwe 1.5 (on-device), and since October 2026 you can also choose one of ten downloadable small language models that run on your phone. Efiwe 2.0 is the default, so nothing changes if you never touch it.
Choosing 1.5 routes everything on-device: no data leaves your phone, no connection is consulted, and the five-minute free-tier cooldown does not apply, so free learners get unlimited instant feedback. The downloaded models also bypass the cooldown. The trade is honest in both directions: 2.0 reasons about your intent and explains in beginner-friendly prose, while 1.5 is faster and more private but explains less. This is useful if you are on a metered data bundle. Your preference is saved to your account rather than the device or program, so it follows you across programs and across shared phones, and the same control ships in the JavaScript SDK for partner-embedded learners.
Since October 12, 2026, you can download one of ten small language models that answer Show Hint, Diagnose Issue, and Learn More in fuller, more conversational language, entirely on your phone. They range from 105 MB to 1.1 GB:
- SmolLM2 135M (Hugging Face), 105 MB
- LFM2 350M (Liquid AI), 229 MB
- Gemma 3 270M compact (Google), 253 MB
- SmolLM2 360M (Hugging Face), 271 MB
- Gemma 3 270M (Google), 292 MB
- LFM2 700M (Liquid AI), 469 MB
- Qwen 2.5 0.5B (Qwen team, Alibaba), 491 MB
- LFM2 1.2B (Liquid AI), 731 MB
- Gemma 3 1B (Google), 806 MB
- Qwen 2.5 1.5B (Qwen team, Alibaba), 1.1 GB
SmolLM2 360M and LFM2 350M answer quickly on most phones, while Qwen 2.5 1.5B and Gemma 3 1B give richer explanations on phones that can handle them. The SmolLM2 models answer in English only; Gemma, Qwen, and LFM2 cover other languages. Downloads resume where they stopped if your connection drops, and models can be removed at any time to free space. Your code never leaves your phone.
Small models can make things up, so they are never asked to guess. Before a model answers, Efiwe 1.5 checks your code and hands the model the facts: what is missing, what is misspelled, and which line is off. The model's only job is to explain those facts in plain, friendly words. Every answer then passes a quality check, and if it is empty, cut off, repeats the question, or misses the facts, Efiwe drops it and Efiwe 1.5 answers instead.
Grading stays exact. Submit is still marked by Efiwe 1.5 offline, comparing what your code produces with what the solution produces, and none of the ten models decides whether you pass. If your chosen model is too slow or cannot load, Efiwe 1.5 steps in, and the panel under the dropdown always says which model answered and why. Some phones, especially iPhones, may close the page if a model is too large; Efiwe remembers this and steers you to a lighter setting next time.
Technical
No, you don't need to install any software. Efiwe is a web-based platform that you can access through your mobile browser. Simply visit the website, and you can start learning to code right away. Once everything loads initially, you can disconnect from wifi and keep coding. All the AI feedback and features work offline.
Yes! Efiwe is designed to be mobile-first, meaning it's optimized to work on a wide variety of smartphones. Whether you have an Android or iOS device, you'll be able to access and use the platform.
Efiwe values your privacy. We store your progress and interaction history locally on your device, so your data remains secure and private. Your data is used only to personalize your learning experience, such as tracking your challenges and coding progress. Efiwe does not collect sensitive personal information.
When you choose Efiwe 1.5 or a downloaded language model, your code never leaves your phone, and the text being read aloud never leaves your phone when an offline voice is used. Your learning history is private: only you can add to and read it, nobody using the app can change or delete it, and it is removed if your account is deleted.
The Efiwe IDE is a free, browser-based code editor at efiwe.com/ide. It needs no installation and runs entirely in your browser using the same engines that power the programs: Pyodide for Python, php-wasm for PHP, and sql.js for SQL. Where the programs teach one challenge at a time, the IDE is where you build something of your own, and it is where capstone projects are built.
Since September 1, 2026, Workspace lets you attach your own CSS, JavaScript, images, fonts, and data files and reference them by filename, just as in a real project. An HTML page can link your stylesheet, Python can open your CSV, PHP can include your files, and in SQL an attached CSV or JSON file becomes a queryable table. Attached files stay on your device between sessions, and Save downloads the whole project as a single .zip.
Accounts
Every learner starts with 200 lives, and each wrong answer costs 10 lives. This system is designed to make mistakes part of the learning process: each wrong answer is a chance to try again and understand the concept more deeply. Once you run out of lives, you can either wait for an automatic refill or purchase more to continue immediately. Since August 2026 the refill wait is adaptive: it scales with how much you have done in your current sitting. Run out early and you wait the standard 3 hours, but solving 8 or more challenges correctly first shortens the wait to 2 hours, 15 or more to 90 minutes, and 25 or more to 1 hour, which is the floor. Only correct answers count, and the session counter resets after 30 minutes of inactivity, so the reduction reflects sustained effort rather than activity spread across a whole day. When a shortened wait applies, the game-over screen tells you how many challenges you solved and what the wait was reduced to. Efiwe Pro subscribers and members of Group Pro and Group Pro Plus are exempt from the lives system entirely: wrong answers cost nothing and the game-over screen never appears.
Yes! You can purchase additional lives at any time, either when you run out or ahead of time at a discounted rate. Lives can also be unlocked using Efiwe Coins earned through our referral program: 1 coin unlocks 100 lives. This flexibility lets you continue learning at your own pace without waiting for automatic refills.
Efiwe uses streaks and badges to keep you motivated throughout your learning journey. You build streaks for correct answers and daily usage. Badges are awarded for completing milestones and can be downloaded and shared on social media or with potential employers. These features provide visible proof of your progress and help build confidence as you learn.
Group Accounts allow parents, schools, organizations, NGOs, bootcamps, teachers, and businesses to enroll multiple learners on Efiwe under one account.
As a group administrator, you will have access to a dashboard where you can:
- copy and share your unique group invite link, or send email invitations directly via a dedicated Invite button
- monitor the learning progress and performance of all group members
- add sub-admins to support coordination (up to 3 on Group Pro and up to 6 on Group Pro Plus)
- review and approve new members with Membership Moderation, and promote learners to the next grade at the start of a new school year
- divide the group into sub-groups such as classes, cohorts, or teams (Group Pro and Group Pro Plus)
Members are added to your group automatically when they register with your link. Group Accounts have already been used to run structured coding programs in schools, NGOs, and community organizations across Nigeria and India.
Go to efiwe.com, create a free account, and choose the Group account type to set up your organization's group. Copy your unique invite link and share it with your learners, or use the Invite button to send email invitations. Learners who register with your link are added to your group automatically, and you can follow everyone's progress from your admin dashboard. Every group starts on the free Group Starter plan and can be upgraded from the dashboard.
Group Accounts come in three tiers. Group Starter is free forever and supports up to 30 learners with a full progress dashboard (no sub-admin slots). Group Pro supports up to 300 members, up to 3 sub-admins, and up to 3 sub-groups, with every member (including admins and sub-admins) getting unlimited lives, unlimited Efiwe 2.0 access, instant certificate access with no separate purchase, unlimited premium Read Aloud voice, and a fully ad-free experience. Group Pro Plus supports up to 600 members, up to 6 sub-admins, and up to 6 sub-groups with the same full benefits as Group Pro. Sub-admins are added by email address and must already have an Efiwe account.
Paid plans are available monthly or yearly (yearly billed as ten months), with currency auto-detected by location and payment through Paystack, Razorpay, or PayPal. Cancellations preserve your plan's benefits until the end of the current billing period before reverting to Starter.
Since September 24, 2026, owners of Group Pro and Group Pro Plus groups can divide their group into classes, cohorts, or teams, such as "JSS 2A", "Cohort 3", or "Girls Who Code Club", from the Sub-Groups section of the Group Tools tab. Group Pro includes up to 3 sub-groups and Group Pro Plus up to 6. Only the owner can create, rename, or remove sub-groups.
Learners still join through the group's invite link. When a group has sub-groups, the signup page asks each learner to choose one, and the owner decides whether that choice is optional or required. Each sub-group also has its own invite link that places learners in that sub-group automatically. Member caps and moderation apply as before, and a moderated learner appears in their chosen sub-group once approved.
In Manage Group Admins, the owner can assign each sub-admin to a sub-group. That sub-admin then sees only their own learners: the Group Stats table (progress, scores, capstones, and certificates), member count, countries, learners online now, the AI Stats Summary, the Monday weekly growth email with its own week-over-week comparison, the moderation pending queue, and grade promotions. Sub-admins who are not assigned to a sub-group keep seeing the whole group.
Every rule is enforced on Efiwe's servers, not just hidden on screen.
Yes. Owners can move learners with the Change Sub-Group button in Group Stats, in bulk as long as all selected learners are in the same sub-group; otherwise the button explains why it is unavailable.
Removing a sub-group that still has learners prompts the owner to move them to another sub-group or to none. Accounts, progress, certificates, and streaks are never affected. Any sub-admin assigned to a removed sub-group returns to seeing the whole group, and the owner is told this before confirming.
Two automatic reports save admins from reading tables line by line. The Stats Summary, launched in August 2026, adds two short plain-language paragraphs at the top of the Group Stats tab: what is working (course-by-course progress, completions, and totals) and what needs attention (who has stalled, where, and which students are worth contacting). All figures are calculated from your group's records before the AI writes a word, and the summary updates every 24 hours with a Regenerate option. It appears once the group has at least 3 active students and 25 completed challenges. A sub-admin assigned to a sub-group gets a summary of that sub-group rather than the whole group.
Every Monday, the owner and every sub-admin also receive a weekly growth summary by email, covering total members and countries plus per-program learners, points, challenges completed, completions, and certificates issued, each with a week-over-week change. Sub-admins assigned to a sub-group receive a version covering only their learners. A group's first week records a baseline, so the first email goes out once there is a real week to compare against.
Yes! Account Switching lets one device hold up to twenty saved accounts at once, so siblings, classmates, or anyone sharing a phone can each keep their own progress without ever needing a full logout. The first time a learner signs in on a device, Efiwe remembers them. A switch control next to the logout button opens a short list of everyone who has signed in there, shown by name, photo, and email. Tapping a saved profile syncs the current learner's progress to the cloud and brings up the next learner's account exactly where they left it, no password required unless that session has expired.
Group accounts work in the switcher too, since a group account can learn like any individual student. Anyone who no longer wants their account remembered on a device can remove themselves from the list with a single tap, and the regular "Log out" button still signs every saved account out at once.
The Efiwe Referral Program rewards you for inviting friends to learn on Efiwe.
- Each registered user has a unique referral link, available on their referral dashboard.
- Share your link with friends manually or through the Invite Friend button.
- When someone signs up using your link, you earn 1 Efiwe Coin.
Efiwe Coins are reward points you earn by referring new users to the platform.
- Coins cannot be withdrawn, converted to cash, or used outside Efiwe.
- Their purpose is to enhance your learning journey.
You can use Efiwe Coins to unlock extra learning benefits, including:
- 100 lives per coin
- Certificate of Completion for 50 coins
Efiwe++ is a charitable support program designed to ensure that financial constraints do not interrupt genuine effort. Through Efiwe++, selected learners receive 500 Efiwe Coins to cover the cost of lives and certificates. Selection is based on effort and consistency rather than background, rewarding learners who demonstrate dedication to their coding journey.
Yes. Since August 2026 you can add a phone number when you create an account and use it to sign in afterwards. The phone field is optional at signup and sits directly beneath the email field, with a country selector covering 241 countries and territories that is preselected from your detected location and supplies the international dialling code. A learner in Lagos can type 08162715246 exactly as they would write it anywhere else, and a learner in Delhi can type their number in the local Indian format; Efiwe converts both to international form behind the scenes. Numbers entered with a leading plus sign are accepted as given, and the international access prefix 00 is understood too.
At the login screen the email field accepts either an email address or a phone number, and the country selector appears only once what you have typed stops looking like an email address, so if you sign in with email, nothing changes for you. Each phone number can be linked to one Efiwe account, and if you enter a number already registered to another account you are told at signup rather than after the fact. Existing accounts continue to work exactly as before. We recommend keeping a valid email address on your account, since password recovery still runs through email.
Yes. Purchased lives persist correctly across every device you use. If you sign out of a device remotely, that device clears its local state immediately, so it cannot overwrite your server-side lives the next time you sign in.
Yes. Membership Moderation is off by default, but when the group owner switches it on, invite-link signups create a full Efiwe account and land in a pending queue instead of joining the group directly. Admins see each applicant's name, email, grade, country, and application date, and can approve or reject individually or in bulk. Rejection removes the request and nothing else: the person keeps their account, progress, certificates, and streaks. Approvals are seat-checked against your plan; if a batch would exceed your cap, the whole action is blocked with an exact explanation rather than partially approved. Only the owner can toggle moderation, but owners and sub-admins can both approve and reject. A sub-admin assigned to a sub-group sees and decides only on requests from learners who chose that sub-group.
For Group Pro and Group Pro Plus, email notifications go out with moderation on: every new invite-link signup emails the owner and all sub-admins with who applied, their grade and country, the total pending, and seats remaining, plus a warning when the queue exceeds capacity. Each admin gets their own copy, so no admin address is exposed to another.
Yes. Owners and sub-admins can select learners and promote them to a higher grade, up to Grade 12. A sub-admin assigned to a sub-group can promote only learners in that sub-group. Selections must be all one grade, Grade 12 learners cannot be promoted, and promotion only moves upward. Disabled-button tooltips explain which rule applies, and every rule is enforced server-side. It is built for the start of a new academic session: filter to Grade 8, select all, promote to Grade 9.

One Click
One Click by Efiwe is a free AI-powered browser extension for Chrome and Firefox that eliminates the repetition of job hunting. Once installed, it automatically fills every field on any job application form (LinkedIn Easy Apply, Greenhouse, Lever, Workday, Indeed, and custom company pages), drawing from your uploaded CV and your Efiwe profile. Upload your CV once, and the extension handles the rest.
Beyond form-filling, One Click also generates a tailored cover letter for every application based on the specific job description, rewrites and optimizes your CV into a professionally formatted PDF, and connects to your Efiwe account to pull in your verified program completions as evidence of technical skills. An offline mode keeps basic auto-fill working without a connection, filling your name, email, phone, location, and portfolio links straight from your saved profile with no AI request, so offline fills do not count against the free usage limit. Features that genuinely need a connection, such as cover letters and CV optimisation, say so rather than failing silently.
One Click is free. Install the extension for Chrome or Firefox, sign in with your Efiwe account using your email, phone number, or Google Sign-In, and optionally subscribe to the weekly curated tech job newsletter at efiwe.com/oneclick. The extension also remembers whichever screen (Application Tracker, Interview Prep, or Job Search Agent) you last had open, so it picks up right where you left off.
One Click works on LinkedIn Easy Apply, Greenhouse, Lever, Workday, Indeed, Glassdoor, BambooHR, SmartRecruiters, Workable, Jobvite, and iCIMS, as well as any custom careers page built on standard HTML forms, including forms embedded in an iframe. The Chrome and Firefox versions support the same sites and use the same Efiwe account.
Your CV and profile are stored on your own device, inside the browser, rather than on Efiwe's servers. When the AI fills a form or writes a cover letter, the relevant details pass through Efiwe to generate the answer and are not kept afterwards. The extension never stores your password. Anonymous error reports are optional and can be declined without losing any features.
Firefox asks for permission before any extension can work across all websites. After installing, right-click the One Click icon in the toolbar and choose to always allow it on all sites. That single step switches on auto-fill everywhere. On Firefox, One Click opens in its own window, which stays open while you choose files to upload.
The Application Tracker gives you a built-in system for managing your entire job search, not just the moment of applying. Every time One Click auto-fills a job application, it automatically logs the company name, role, application URL, date applied, and how many fields were filled, with no manual input required. You can also add applications you submitted elsewhere using a simple form inside the extension.
As things progress, you can update each application's status as Applied, Interviewing, Offer, Rejected, or Withdrawn, updated from a simple dropdown on each entry, giving you a real-time picture of where every opportunity stands, with the original job posting always one click away. Changes save immediately. Deleting an application asks for confirmation first and clears that application's saved interview questions along with it.
Interview Prep mode turns any job description into a personalized interview preparation guide. Paste in the job description, optionally choose a focus area such as technical, behavioural, leadership, or culture fit, and the AI generates eight tailored interview questions, each paired with a coaching tip on how to approach the answer. Questions are colour-coded by category, and the full set can be regenerated or copied to your clipboard in a single tap. Since September 2026, each tracked application keeps its own saved question set, with a Prep button that opens Interview Prep for that role and restores the questions, job description, and focus area you last used. Applications that already have questions saved are marked in the tracker, so you can see at a glance what you have prepared for.
Night Owl is an autonomous AI job search agent inside One Click that searches for new job openings overnight, independent of whether your browser or computer is open. Each nightly run pulls your completed Efiwe programs, uploaded CV, and job search preferences, then finds postings matching your target roles and location. Every posting is scored against your verified skill level with a short explanation of that score, and for strong matches, Night Owl drafts a tailored cover letter and generates eight interview questions with coaching tips, the same way One Click's manual tools already do.
Everything Night Owl prepares is saved as "Ready to Review," never "Applied". No form is filled and no application is submitted without you opening the posting yourself and clicking to fill it in. A "Job Search Agent" tab shows every overnight match ranked by score, and an "Open & Fill" button opens the real posting and auto-fills it using One Click's existing autofill engine, leaving you to review and submit. When Night Owl finds strong matches, it sends a short summary email so you know to check. Night Owl is included at no extra cost for individual Efiwe Pro subscribers and members of Group Pro or Group Pro Plus plans.
Efiwe Open API
The Efiwe Open API allows schools, NGOs, bootcamps, and learning platforms to embed Efiwe's interactive coding challenges directly into their own products. With a single integration, partner organizations can deliver hands-on programming education without building complex infrastructure from scratch. The API handles structured content delivery, AI-powered code validation with instant feedback, contextual hints, and built-in learner progress tracking. Solutions are intentionally left out of API responses, so learners using Efiwe through a partner platform are building real skills rather than looking up answers.
The Efiwe API is designed for educational organizations, including schools, NGOs, bootcamps, training programs, and learning platforms that want to teach coding at scale. It's ideal for organizations working with learners in low-resource environments, as the embedded challenges retain Efiwe's offline capability, multilingual support, and game-like engagement features. Developers and platforms can integrate Efiwe's learning engine to enrich their existing products with proven, interactive coding content.
Organizations can integrate the Efiwe API using our JavaScript SDK or direct API endpoints. You can embed individual challenges or entire challenge sequences directly into your platform. The system handles evaluation and feedback automatically, providing learners with immediate, actionable responses as they write code. Public documentation and integration tools are available on our website, and organizations can begin integrating immediately to start delivering interactive coding education at scale.
Certificates and Verification
Yes! When you complete an Efiwe program, you receive a verifiable Certificate of Completion. Each certificate includes a QR code that employers or schools can scan to instantly confirm its authenticity. This makes your credential trustworthy without requiring complex background checks.
Since September 20, 2026, passing the program's capstone project is required for a certificate in all seven coding programs. Prompt Engineering certificates are awarded at Junior, Mid-Level, or Senior level depending on points earned.
A capstone sits at the end of each of the seven coding programs (HTML, CSS, Tailwind, JavaScript, Python, SQL, and PHP). Instead of a worked example, you get a written brief describing what a page, program, or database must do, and you build it from scratch in the Efiwe IDE. Briefs vary from learner to learner, and passing also requires a short written explanation of your solution.
Capstones are graded automatically against the requirements. For example, Python and PHP capstones run your functions against unseen inputs, and SQL capstones run your queries against a second, hidden dataset. Attempts are unlimited and cost no lives, and once you pass, trying again can never take that pass away. The capstone applies the same way whichever Learning Mode you used.
Certificates are available for a small fee, or you can unlock them using 50 Efiwe Coins earned through our referral program. You can also purchase a certificate ahead of time at a discounted rate instead of waiting until you complete your program. Certificates are included at no extra cost for Efiwe Pro subscribers and members of Group Pro and Group Pro Plus. Through our Efiwe++ charitable support program, selected learners based on effort and consistency receive 500 Efiwe Coins to cover certificates and lives, ensuring financial constraints don't interrupt genuine learning.
