Helping People Become Healthier
I’m a primary care physician retired from clinical practice in general and preventive medicine. I’m still actively involved in patient advocacy and health education, with a commitment to helping as many people as possible lead healthier and more fulfilling lives.
I am also a critic of America’s for-profit healthcare system and its failure to protect people from preventable illnesses. If our mental and physical health, and our overall wellbeing, are our most precious personal assets, then a healthy population would be a country’s most important natural resource. I believe that the best health investment people can make is to adopt a much healthier lifestyle and make use of preventive health services.
I have explored many other approaches to health and healing, and take issue with so-called “alternative medicine” practices that lack credible evidence for safety and effectiveness. My current focus is primarily on illness prevention using science-based lifestyle interventions, and finding practical applications for the latest research in preventive medicine.
