Hey there! I’m Sanjana.
I’m a data scientist and AI consultant working at the intersection of data, technology, and people, translating the systems shaping our world into language women can actually use.
How many times have you heard,
“If you don’t understand AI, you’ll be left behind?”
That message is everywhere. It’s urgent. It’s loud. And it’s often rooted in fear.
But here’s what I actually believe:
Data and AI shape our choices long before we realize it, and we’re expected to trust systems we were never taught to understand. Critical thinking today means understanding how data and AI influence our families, work, health, finances, and relationships, not out of panic, but as a form of agency.
This isn’t about chasing trends.
It’s about knowing enough to participate with power.
For too long, this knowledge has been gatekept, leaving most people, especially women and marginalized communities, outside the rooms where these systems are designed and deployed. When you don’t understand the tools shaping your life, you can’t question them. You can’t influence them. And you certainly can’t use them in a way that aligns with your needs and values.
That imbalance is what I care about.
This Substack is where I unpack what’s happening beneath the AI hype and how it shows up in our everyday lives. I share the good, the bad, and the quietly concerning, with the goal of helping us all become more data-conscious together.
You don’t have to be “technical” to be here. You just have to be curious and believe that understanding gives you the ability to make decisions for yourself and your family from a values-driven place, instead of blindly following what’s handed to you.
Let’s be data-conscious together.
Beyond writing, I run a company focused on making AI and data literacy accessible, human, and values-aligned. Through strategy sessions, workshops, advisory work, and speaking, I help women use AI intentionally so they can participate in the systems that shape their lives with clarity, confidence, and influence.
You can explore that work at dataconsciousco.com.
This isn’t just a newsletter. It’s a collective.
My hope is that we engage with technology consciously. That we move from pressure to understanding. From understanding to agency.
Let’s get curious.
Let’s be data-conscious.
Let’s shape the systems shaping us.
Welcome. ✨
