Welcome to Dans Deliberations!

How are you doing? My name is Daniel O’Donnell and I write short stories. Which is something I’ve been doing since I was 12 years old. And that’s a long time now! Most of the tales I tell will be micro fiction, 50 or 100 words, but some are longer. It just depends on where the story takes me. A lot of them are a wee bit spooky and scary, the kind you like to hear in front of a warm fire, on a dark night, when you’re sure you can hear something tapping on the window to be let in. However, I also dabble in science fiction and fantasy from time to time.

I also amazingly managed to win Most Valued Writer for 2024 from Top in Fiction which was an absolute honour, so I must be doing something right!

Anyway, if you like the sound of that, then I look forward to welcoming you on my journey into the world of the weird, fantastical and uncanny.

I also write about other stuff …..

Every now and then I write reviews of TV shows, movies and books. Oh, and also the odd concert that I manage to attend.

I think we’re in a golden age of television and I’ll generally watch anything, but the amount of great sci-fi that’s around just now is outstanding, so check out my reviews on all that kind of stuff.

Same goes for movies. There’s so many outstanding movies still coming out, despite what some folks might say to convince you otherwise. I’ll watch everything from the big blockbusters to the small indies and let you know what I think without bias or prejudice. I also do retrospective analysis on classic movies. My favourite film of all time is John Carpenter’s, The Thing and I look forward to telling you why on numerous occasions!

Finally, I do still read the occasional book. Although not as much as I used to. I like most things horror and my favourite authors would be Stephen King, Clive Barker and the late, great James Herbert.

However, I do also like crime writers such as George Pelecanos and Dennis Lehane and grew up on fantasy authors like Tolkien and Stephen Donaldson back in the day. I also played D&D many moons ago and will still ramble on about that occasionally!

So, as you can see, a varied collection of thoughts and interests. If that sounds cool, then hang around for that too!

Stay up-to-date

You won’t have to worry about missing anything. Every story and article goes directly to your inbox. And, it’s all for free, as asking money for my nonsense would just be far too wide.
