Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 46 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Consumers frequently shared frustrating issues with product connectivity, faulty hardware components, and lengthy response times from customer support representatives who rarely offered meaningful solutions. Many buyers struggled with defective items, unhelpful service agents, and complicated troubleshooting steps that ultimately failed to resolve persistent technical errors during daily use. Some reviewers were happy with the aesthetic appeal of the lights and found certain items visually impressive in their homes. A few individuals also noted that delivery occasionally arrived on time and basic installation went smoothly when approached with sufficient patience and proper care.

Terrible experience

Terrible experience. I asked to cancel the order roughly one hour after placing it, but that was apparently already impossible.

After that, the shipment turned into a mess. DHL tracking showed contradictory statuses for weeks, while Nanoleaf kept waiting on DHL or their warehouse instead of properly resolving it.

When the package finally arrived, I asked for a return label. Nanoleaf sent one, but DHL refused the parcel because the label was incorrect: the sender and receiver details were wrong.

So after weeks of waiting, emails and follow-ups, I still couldn’t even return the product because of another mistake on their side.

Very unprofessional. I just want my money back and definitely won’t order from Nanoleaf again.

In January I received a damaged package and in August

In January I received a damaged package with damaged items inside. Although I got in touch with them, i send them photos and videos their request never seemed to end and i gave up. Now, on 7th of August I received another damaged package from Nanoleaf with two missing items. Until today I've send dozens of emails and get only apologies and nothing else.

Avoid at all costs, it will cost you money and TIME.

Absolutely terrible connectvity issues with standalone products and an absolutely infuriating design/installation process on the blocks/leafs, etc.

Ease of set up is nonexistent. It is a total pain in the ass to even begin setting up the blocks/wall lights. Would not recommend to ANYONE.

Six months of frustration, couldn’t recommend

I rarely leave negative reviews, but after six months of trying everything possible to make this work reliably, I feel it’s important to share my honest experience. I purchased the Nanoleaf Skylight because I genuinely believed in the product. The design is beautiful and I wanted it to be the centerpiece of my smart home. Unfortunately, my experience turned into six months of constant frustration. Despite multiple resets, firmware updates, and troubleshooting attempts, I faced ongoing pairing and connectivity issues. Living in the UAE, I don’t have access to official local support, so I relied on email support. While the team did respond, I repeatedly received the same troubleshooting steps without meaningful progress toward resolution. What disappointed me most wasn’t a single technical flaw, but the consistency of the issues over an extended period. Instead of enjoying the product, I found myself constantly troubleshooting. After six months, I made the difficult decision to replace my Nanoleaf setup with another smart lighting ecosystem. I truly hoped Nanoleaf would improve stability and support, because the hardware has potential. But based on my experience, I can’t recommend it right now.

Great Hardware, Absolutely Horrendous Software & Pairing Experience

Worked for three years. Then one day it disconnected, and reconnecting became an hours-long nightmare involving broken QR pairing, Apple Home hijacking the setup process, a useless ‘Pairing closed’ error, an orientation screen that stays completely empty, and a Windows desktop app whose official download endpoint doesn't even work. The hardware may be fine, but the software experience is atrocious. I would never buy Nanoleaf again.

No-name brand quality, x2 Apple price

**Premium price. Cheap hardware. Support that disappears once the easy answer fails.**

I bought the Nanoleaf Smart Multicolor Floor Lamp 2-Pack for €150. One lamp failed after only five months and started randomly flashing like a broken nightclub light.

At first, support replied reasonably quickly. The first absurdity was their support form: almost every field is mandatory, so I spent around 40 minutes filling it out even though maybe 10% of the questions had anything to do with my problem.

Eventually, Nanoleaf approved a replacement. Great.

Then the package arrived.

They had sent me... an LED strip. Just the strip. No stand, no controller/electronics, no remote, no power supply. Nothing else.

Considering the symptoms I had described, it was already obvious that simply swapping the LEDs was unlikely to fix anything. The power supply also gets alarmingly hot during normal use, yet apparently nobody thought the electronics might be relevant.

I replaced the LED strip anyway. Unsurprisingly, the exact same problem remained.

This is where Nanoleaf support became truly ridiculous.

My emails started being ignored for weeks. I eventually had to open a completely new ticket and fill in their huge form AGAIN just to get someone to answer me.

Then replies took around two weeks and included questions basically amounting to: “We already solved your problem, why are you contacting us again?”

Because you didn’t solve it.

I explicitly told them that their replacement part changed absolutely nothing. After another long wait, they asked me to send a video of the problem — a video I had already sent them multiple times.

So my €150 “premium” smart lighting experience has been:

lamp fails after 5 months → 40-minute support form → wrong replacement part → install it myself → problem remains → support disappears → new ticket → fill everything out again → wait weeks → explain the same issue again → wait → get asked for evidence already provided.

The most disappointing part is that I wanted Nanoleaf products for probably 10–12 years. Back then I couldn’t justify the price, but I loved how their products looked and assumed the premium pricing meant premium quality.

Now I finally bought them and learned what that premium actually gets you: nice industrial design wrapped around hardware that feels like cheap generic electronics, plus customer support that becomes almost impossible to reach once their first scripted solution fails.

Nanoleaf charges luxury-brand prices without delivering luxury-brand quality control or after-sales service.

After waiting more than a decade to buy their products, I’m now completely cured of wanting anything else from this brand.

This is just the biggest mistake I ever did in a purchase4 I thought to be "premium". Never again

Zero Stars

I wouldn’t even give this company or their product even 1 star. Customer service is a COMPLETE JOKE and their product line is complete junk in the homekit environment. After THEIR firmware update, it never synced or mirrored the essentials lightstrip to the 4D which it’s designed to do. Complete junk, DO NOT BUY.

Worst customer service

Customer service not interested to resolve your issues. They will find ten different ways to avoid replacing faulty item. At least 20 different emails sent to Nanoleaf and they always come up with something to avoid product warranty replacement.

Product faulty after 5 months customers…

Product faulty after 5 months customers services have done anything but help and admit fault. WiFi connectivity failed and wouldn’t start again even after trying all reset proceddures. Nanoleaf said it must be my WiFi, yet it worked for 5 months and everything else still connects to WiFi. Move the goal posts as I proved the issue was the product. Will never buy again bought Govee lights to replace which are brilliant!

Crap experience

I have shapes, the corner lamp, wall rope and another rgb rope. App is terrible. Software is terrible. If you simply plug out/switch power off to any of their products it will immediately disconnect from all your apps/rooms. You will spend more time deleting and re-syncing in the app than actually using their lights. They will also just disconnect themselves from time to time. Half the options to sync things on the pc app don't work. I do not understand how this company made it big. Do not buy their shit.
