I haven't been able to access my CD or checking account. I was told after I made a checking account I could see my CD. Theyre also making me pay $5 a month for the checking account to view MY CD. I talked with 6 people over 90 minutes and 3 phone calls after no one could help me... see my money... the last call went silent and eventually I hung up. Incompetence. I want my $2,000.

EXPERIAN asked me if I had moved

EXPERIAN asked me if I had moved. I then found out that CITI had changed my residence address based on a request from somebody in Florida. (I had GOOGLED the new address). Then I found that my email address was changed. I froze my account. Then after being a CITI customer since 1990, I closed my account. CITI sent me a new credit card, and told me I qualified for a 20K loan. That letter had my new card number, which I had not yet received. Numerous phone calls did not help, because they said I have no account, and they cannot find any of my old information: phone number, etc., in order to confirm my identity. This has been going on for over a month, and, I am waiting for a final snail mail statement. They will do nothing without your credit card number.

Horrible, terrible no-good underwriting and customer service

Horrible, terrible underwriting and customer service. They screwed up my account, canceled my card, and sent me a bill for $360. I could not get them to tell me why, but after nasty letters I took them to small claims court.

THe judge ruled in my favor but instead of apologizing (though their outside counsel did) they blocked my application. When I applied they said I was restricted I couldn't get another card, which was the one I really wanted.

Somehow, though, through their incompetence, I had gotten another credit card from them after that court case.

I tried to point out that in fact obviously my privileges were not restricted since they sent me that card. I got routed to 4 different people over the course of an hour, and eventually wrote to them.

They wrote back and said I couldn't get a card. I sent them a screenshot of a card I already had from them, with a perfect payment history and an 832 credit score.

They tried to blame their underwriting rules, as though fate determines their underwriting.

It was an incredibly time-consuming process to deal with their incompetence. Chase is much better!

Stay Away

Stay Away! The most horrible Visa/credit card experience I've ever had! I link SECU to Citi so I can do an ach transfer to pay my Costco Visa, I paid the full balance, it posted on my SECU account, the money was gone, I get an email from Citi saying you made a payment. One week later & two phone calls to Citi, one which involved speaking with a supervisor to get the payment posted to my Costco Visa. The word I heard most often was "the system" That is the problem. I have impecable credit, I opened another Visa with a higher limit that gives 2% cash back on all purchases everywhere. Good riddance Citi, you're not the only duck in the pond that gives cash back. Bye

Insufferable wait time

A charge to my debit card to a merchant was declined even though I had plenty of money in my account and I had charged to this merchant previously. I spoke with a customer service representative who said I would need to talk with the fraud department. I was transferred and waited for 40 minutes and listened at least 75 times to a recorded message about fraud and scams while I was on hold. I finally gave up. In 2025 Citibank reported net revenue of around $14 billion. And this is how they treat their customers.

worthless promises of customer protection from Citibank

I had a dispute with Booking.com regarding a missing refund for a cancelled duplicate reservation. Citibank said that they couldn't issue a refund because Booking.com said that I hadn't followed their cancellation procedure. I then submitted proof that I had followed Booking.com's cancellation procedure, at which point Citibank said that they had contacted Booking.com and that nothing could be done.

Very disappointing

On the 28th of September, 2026 we gratefully accepted a loan from CitiBank, totaling $25,000.00

Since then, we have made 2 small payments, totaling $21.00, in testing our payment mechanism.
After 2 payments, totaling $21.00, Balance should be- $25,000.00 - $21,00 = $24,979.00

But, in the last few days, there have been EIGHT undocumented increases to the balance.
These have all been roughly $10.00 each, and all in the early morning.
However, they are not documented anywhere.
There are no notations, no references, and no transactions listed anywhere.
No explanations, whatsoever.

We attempted to utilize the CitiBank online customer service Chatbot, but it very bluntly told us it would not deal with a loan inquiry.
We were advised to use their 800 number, but were unable to get through.
We will try again.

We would simply like this balance corrected, and the mistakes to stop.

Total Balance- $25,071.39

Actual Transactions
ACH Electronic Payment PILALSDNYNBHJO0 Transfer from PNC Bank Nation
$10.00 Oct 01, 2026

ACH Electronic Disbursement PILALSDZCD0B5FC Transfer to Natl Bk of Ariz
-$25,000.00 Sep 28, 2026

After 2 payments, totaling $21.00
Balance should be- $25,000.00 - $21,00 = $24,979.00
Current Total Balance is- $25,071.39

They promo the Citi Bank Business Thank You credit card. However, when there is an issue and you have to spend hours trying to get in touch with the Fraud Dept, you cannot get thru! I then tried the home bank, no one ever answers there either. I called three other locations and finally got a manager on the phone only to be told that they are not associated with the Thank You credit cards and there is nothing she can do!?????????? I am encouraging the owner of the business to move and bank elsewhere!

Citi Bank has fallen so far down

Citi Bank has fallen so far down, that it will never be back up to where it once was! I am, or should I say was a Citi Bank customer for 40+ years. At first they were great, then slowly as the years past, they began to get worse and worse! The final straw was when my Citi Bank account was hacked but a scammer posing to be a Citi Security Fraud Agent! There used to be 5 Citi Branch offices within a couple of miles from me, slowly Citi has closed 4 of them and the only one that is open is incoveniently located 20 miles away! Every banking institution I have talked to lately are and are planning to open more branches. Citi is closing them, WTF?! Here is one of the things that bother me the most about citi: When you are a customer and need service, especially if it's a service that is time sensative (Like in my case reporting and dealing with a hack on my account), you cannot reach a Citi Customer Service agent without waiting on hold for hours...and I mean hours! When you can finally connect, you are talking to a person in Indonesia or the Philipines. Their English is terrible and due to their accent, they are very hard to understand! AND they do not do what you are asking them too! In my case I wanted my account to be locked. They assured me they will, but what they did was just lock my Debit Card and the account itself was not locked. I actually called and checked with them twice to be reassured that the account was locked...IT WAS NOT!!!!! So you have an organization that cares very little about you as a customer. Citi pushes you to use their mobil ap, for the most part, the ap works fairly well, however, you cannot do everything through the ap, and that starts a chain of really bad Customer Support as basically, Citi provides none! Do not use Citi Bank as you personal Banking Account! They are aware that their Security and Fraud published phone number gets frequent hacks, but yet they do nothing to prevent that? How simple is it to rotate a different phone number weekly etc? If you currently have a Citi account, close it immediately and seek another financial institute that is better to serve yo the customer! I have chosen a well establish Credit Union. They are exactly th eopposite of Citi! Meaing they are customer oriented, have abundance of help avalable, have many convenient locations...AND what I thought was the best part... Their Customer Service phone and location is local to the banks branch! That also means they are USA situated and are staffed by USA citizens that speak English! You never have to wait when calling either, your call is immediately picked up! How refreshing is that when you think about the shortcommings of Citi! If you have a Citi account...immedaitely cancel it and run as far away as you can to another financial institution!

If .25 stars were an option

If .25 were an option, I would’ve chosen it.
Citi continues to mess with my balance although my transfers are supposed to be instant.
Their customer service via phone is one of the worst experiences I’ve ever dealt with in my 50 plus years.
I’d recommend not using them.

Not customer service driven

Not customer service driven. They treat you like a number and don’t care about your history with them. Very cold. They expect you to be loyal to them in using their card but they don’t return that same loyalty.

They stole my identity and opened an account in my name, saying I owe them hundreds of dollars for an account that I never authorized or gave permission to open. In the first place, I don’t even bank with Citibank. I have never opened an account with Citibank or been affiliated with them. I tried to call to dispute it, and they keep asking for my Social Security number. I told them the account number that was made up and falsely used on the account so they can look up the fraud. So why would you need my Social Security number to look it up? The account number is enough information. This company, I believe, is trying to scam people.

Horrible !!!!!

Horrible !!!!!! I have had a Best Buy card ( citi bank) for 17 years. I paid off my account last November and in August they sent me a letter that if I didn’t use my card, they would close the account.
Lost my card and called them, they reissued one. They neglected to tell me that they changed my account number ( not just the credit card) so when I made a payment, it went to my old account.
Sent the payment to pay it off on September 18, but they can’t find it because it went to the old account.
After 8 phone calls, and me disputing it,they send me a letter that they need “ more information.” On the same day, I also received an email that stated “ my bill was paid and posted.”
Another call to verify which it is, paid or not…. Now they want me to send a screen shot of both the payment and the email, THEIR EMAIL !!!!!
I said cancel this card, this bank is absurd !!! B
