My experience has been mostly good with some exceptions. I am forever wanting to dig further into the past, and Ancestry helps me do that. However, for some reason, I am very often adding a duplicate... See more

Great site - great search ability - lots of hints sent my way. Ancestry consistently update their site for better use for its subscribers. So much to explore on this site - I just love it
Ancestry provides an easy system to build a family tree in a way that you could never do in recent times. It's fast and comprehensive, and you can do so much from your desk without having to go out to research. I've heard people complain about the accuracy of some data, but that's not been my experience. Obviously Ancestry doesn't beat going out and actually researching, but it is a great tool to compile what you know. It is expensive, though, so maybe not for everyone.

DO NOT LIKE THAT AI IS CHANGING MY FAMILY TREE

My main reason for getting DNA was to find Irish relatives in Ireland from my Great, Great Grandparents on my father's side: William Doyle and Abigail Lick,
Alexander Murphy and Rachel Glass.
It was disappointing not to find any results.
Gerald Doyle.

Ancestry said that President Abraham Lincoln is a distant cousin because of a single person that was in my tree.
I have grown my tree and helped over 100 people with their family since I did my DNA test in 2016.
At my age, helping others and all I needed was a thank you. I have a Family Tree on my laptop and have sent information by the internet.

The app failed to recognize multiple attempts to change my membership level and Ancestry refused to make the correction hiding behind a policy. I had been a long time member and their lack of accountability for the technical deficiencies or any customer service goodwill is repellent.
Rather than refund their ill-gotten $23 they’ve decided to walk away from at least a $10 perpetual monthly annuity. Bravo.

While Ancestry provides a great deal of information and records, their hints systems is far from accurate. Often suggestions are merely based on the fact that somebody else has included that person in their family tree even if the record is inaccurate. As an example I reviewed a hint regarding my paternal grandmother showing she had an additional child with her first husband. However, I am aware that this did not occur as they were separated at the time of the child's supposed birth. In fact, they were separated years before.
Furthermore, you do not have access to all of the records, as Ancestry hives off whole segments of their records to sell to you separately at exorbitant costs.
On a positive side it has been a good place to start building a family tree and they have continued to develop the site though many of the new features are added at additional cost.
