I could kick myself for not checking on…

I could kick myself for not checking on here first. Back in April I asked Google for the best tablets. No 1 was "Smileboxy". Never heard of it but it sounded good so I ordered. As usual, it came from China. I had problems from the start, but the company responded to emails and helped as best they could. Now 6 months on the tablet has stopped working completely.

I took the decision to order another. Went online asking the same question. This time a "IT teacher" spoke about how good the Aether tab was, so I ordered it. It arrived today & as I unpacked it alarm bells rang. It looked identical to the Smileboxy & was packaged in the same way. Like others on here I presumed that to return it I could send it to the address in Feltham, but no - China. I only emailed the company today and asked to return it, so no response yet, but I think I know what the reply will be - if I get one. When will these false reviews be outlawed over here. I am so fed up being scammed in this way

Got the tablet up and running, cleaned it up, and it is a really good device. 8 MB of RAM, dual processors, 68 MB of internal storage; upgrade to 1 TB if needed. This is a cheap device when set up properly; it makes a great tablet.
Downside: it will not connect to other products via Bluetooth or by cable; not a problem just redownload the apps needed. Also, cases and screen covers are hard to come by, but Ive fixed that problem to

Pictures of delivery show it under my car in full view. £159.99 Tablet, obviously stolen and zero help from the company. Avoid at all costs. It seems to be a Chinese based company not Uk at all

Do not buy this rubbish!

Seems like everyone else has had a similar experience to mine.

Product arrived, poorly boxed. Keypad didn't work properly. Sound from speakers awful.

Emailed immediately. I wanted a refund, they kept saying they'd replace it. I kept saying I didn't want another one, just refund. They wouldn't listen and kept repeating until I was more forceful.
The return address says Feltham but they didn't want it sent there!
They gave me an address in China and said I'd have to pay postage.
I'm not wasting any more money on them. I'll try to recoup the money from my bank.
Avoid at all costs. I'd seen a review on a website saying the product was the best. Looks like it was a spam review. It's the worst!

Cheap,nasty and not working properly.
Don't make the mistake I made.

One star because I can not give less

One star because I can not give less. This is a scam company. I wish I had read the reviews on here before purchasing it. It is a cheap, flimsy product and pulls apart when you try to take the ill fitting case off. The sound has stopped working and it will not stay connected to the internet. I have initiated a charge back, so fingers crossed as trying to return through them selves is near impossible.

AVOID!!!

I wish I had seen the reviews before I purchased from this company. The Tablet I purchased came well packaged and looks good. But it has no sound and after 14 emails I am getting no further with them over a refund, not they are ignoring me! . They want me to pay p&p and customs charges for a faulty item! Do not buy under any circumstances. They are a rogue company and are nothing more than thieves.

Rogue Company - Avoid

Company offered a timely delivery date. It didn't happen.

When queried I received an email saying no such order.

My bank confirmed payment.

Aethertab then said they couldn't cancel my order because it was in transit. Day 1 of query - no such order. Day 2 of query - in transit.

I'll send it straight back, this company are cowboys. Avoid like the plague.

DON'T BUY THIS, it's a complete pile of rubbish!

There device turned up in little pieces, it was so poorly manufactured it was laughable, I thank my lucky stars I had the foresight to purchase this "tablet" on my credit card, and my bank obtained the refund that Aethertab, were refusing to issue. Thankfully, I didn't need to return, as the postage was ridiculously expensive!

I agree with the previous reviews, but to add

I agree with the previous reviews. The tablet is not as advertised and is being sold with an unsupported Android version. They delay the returns process.
But, to add :-
1) They stated in an email that they have 90 days to provide a refund. UK distances selling laws state they have 14 days. But 90 days is likely outside of the period you can get a refund through your credit card.
2) The claim to ship from china and require the customer to pay postage back to China. They are selling as UK web shop. They are acting unlawfully saying the postage is to China. Further, the tablet was sent to me from an address near London (TW14). This looks like a VAT scam,
3) I have also found Curry's are selling higher spec tablets for similar prices. Go to a reputable company.
My advice is "AVOID". Keep all correspondence. If you need a refund then do not wait 90 days - go to your credit card company after 14.

Update
I am still trying to get a full refund. Generally they keep quoting the same nonsense. But to add
1) They insist I post to china. They posted to me from TW14 0AF. So that is the return address as far as I am concerned
2) They have offered 15% refund (previously they said it can take 90 days). So I have no confidence in this offer.
I have asked to return/cancel 6 times. They only delay and try to deter me with the costs for posting to China.

NOT WHAT THE MARKETING CLAIMED

Unfortunately in January 2026, I was in desperate need of a tablet as my 2019 phone was very low on memory. I had a Samsung tablet which was so old Google didn't work anymore. To free up some memory on my phone, I planned to move some of my apps off my phone onto a tablet. Being low income I did a search for reviews for budget tablets and saw the article mentioned in other reviews. Aethertab sounded great and was reassured that it appeared to be a UK company. It's NOT.
It took ages to arrive and I really wanted to return it since the whole sale appeared to be a scam. In fact I reported it to my credit card company but didn't have time to follow through.
Apart from being scammed into buying an inferior product and only with outdated Android 13 (officially unsupported as of March 2026!), the tablet daily shuts down in the middle of using an app (especially a banking app). I worry that the tablet is lacking proper security leaving it vulnerable to fraudulent practices.
I feel angry with myself for being duped but also angry with the people responsible for selling this tablet using false claims and apparently with no accountability.
The customer service "Vivian" responds but with such minimal content that it doesn't help.

Introducing Vivian AI from Aether Tab

Just to give you a flavour of the backtracking & attempts to negotiate a reduction . This will illustrate the fraudulent practises of the ‘company’ such as it is . It is ‘ troublesome’ to return the goods . You heard it from ‘Vivian’ .
Beware !

From Vivian , official spokesperson from Aether Tab .

‘Hello,
There is nothing wrong with our products. I need to explain that it is troublesome to return the goods.
Please note:
You need to return the goods and pay for the shipping, as well as the customs duties. It will cost a lot of money and time to return the goods from your place to China.
In this case, how about we refund you 50% of this order and you don't return the package? You can leave the items there as gifts for your friends or family.

So disappointed by my tablet

So disappointed by my tablet. It’s not charging but keeps crashing when I use apps. I’ve spent £180 on poor quality tech. Feel like an idiot as was taken in my reviews that look to have been fake. I paid by credit card so not sure if I can get my money back as the device isn’t working properly. Looking at all the reviews here I wish I’d dug a little further.

DO NOT BUY

I just wanted to make sure I wrote down how bad this tablet is. Cannot keep current UK time (despite changing multiple times), sensitivity of the screen appalling (ie to edit any text, zoom zoom zoom is all I can say to help). Logs out of apps/reloads websites constantly. Don't buy it. Hunk of rubbish. Weeks for shipping. An automated response or AI when trying to return. Got 20% off in the end as like others I knew I'd never get the money back. Like others got sucked in by "best tablets website", clearly fake and needs reporting. DO NOT BUY.

I get that some people felt deceived by a Business in China promoting itself as a UK Business... and I get that the 'fake' review website promoting its Products ahead of others is somewhat disingenuous... and I get that the inevitable week or so for delivery is unexpected. The Aethertab I received however was well packaged. It is most fit for purpose, only requiring the usual out-of-the-box system settings, Android, Google/Chrome and App updates. It has worked just fine as intended, with Internet & Bluetooth device connectivity just fine. It's good value and all that I needed at a price I was happy to pay

Do not buy from this company

Do not buy from this company and do not believe any reviews that you read, especially things like 'Top ten tablets'. It is a Chinese company despite the .co,uk website address so shipping takes a while. When it arrived, I was very disappointed with the build quality and it would not stay connected to the internet for more than 20 seconds. The case did not fit and the keyboard and mouse feel very flimsy.
I tried to arrange a return which they were reluctant to accept, in the end I shipped it by courier at my expense thinking at least I'll get something back, but it has now been stuck in customs for over a week. I have phoned customs who say there are no taxes to pay but they need paperwork from the importer to clear it through customs. It is on the verge of being returned back to me because the company will not contact customs or reply to their emails. Neither are they replying any longer to my emails and this is obviously because they know that it is going to be returned to me and therefore they won't have to refund me.
I fully realise I should have investigated them more, but I only hope that this review will prevent others from being scammed.

HD Screen 'Andriod' Tablet

I do not believe that I received a genuine Android tablet from this company.

Whilst they state they are happy to offer a refund, I have established that they are a dropshipping operation from China.

Although their website states ".co.uk", returns must be sent internationally tracked to China.

On attempting a return, Royal Mail would not accept as it contains a lithium battery, and other carriers are charging more than the device is worth.

An enquiry to Trading Standards via Citizens Advice Consumer Service resulted in a reply of 'this query falls outside of our remit for specific advice as it appears the trader is based in China'.

When contacting my credit card company to attempt a chargeback, I was advised that 'it is with regret that whilst the goods remain in your possession, we are prevented from making representations to the retailer 's processing bankers'.

Therefore, purchase at your peril, as once it is in your possession, you can't actually do anything with it!

Really this company shouldn't even receive one star.

Cheaply Made and Overpriced

Like others I was led to this company by a scam review site. I tried to cancel within 24 hours once I realised. The tablet did arrive okay but the it’s clear that it’s cheaply made. Its processor is fast but it’s not going to last as it’s very plasticy. Taking it out of the protective case the plastic body came apart but fortunately snapped back in again. Very disappointed!

It was clear that they were never going to accept a return (I would have had to pay the return costs as there was “nothing wrong with it”. In the end I got 20% discount but still feel robbed!
