About me, Bill Gullo
I'm a human, writer, creator and educator. My writing spans writing, directing, and producing for film, television, stage, and the web and is known for its versatility across tone and genre—from the intimately dramatic to the darkly comic to a musical about cloning. As for my teaching: I believe people can learn to write.
Some career highlights include Martin Scorsese signing on to executive produce my original feature, writing, producing, and directing my beloved musical about cloning at the NY International Fringe Festival, receiving two favorable reviews in the good ol’ New York Times, and Alexander Payne reporting that he cried while reading one of my screenplays.
As an actively working writer, I’m the founder of Storytellers Social Club, a growing network of storytellers from diverse disciplines and This Time/Next Time, a story consulting service for individuals and organizations.
I’ve helped hundreds of writers with their stories as a visiting professor at NYU, as Associate Director of Almanack Screenwriters, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting the best emerging film and TV writers and as a private story consultant helping filmmakers, fiction writers and storytellers of all kinds to find and sharpen their story/purpose. I’m proud of the testimonials my collaborators and clients have shared.
I live in Brooklyn with Rachel, two kids and a brown dog who seems to forget that she’s been fed about an hour after she’s been fed.
