About

My name is Ben, writing as B. A. Clarke, and I’m a Netherlands based, British born and raised, speculative fiction writer. I post every other Thursday, alternating between fiction and non-fiction.

Fiction

My short stories take place in the same shared world I call Teua, strongly inspired by our own in the late-18th century. I write everything from the ballroom to the battlefield: you’ll find mystery, intrigue, military fiction, adventure, romance, and some even I don’t know how to categorise. It’s all standalone and can be read in any order, though eagle-eyed readers will find connections abound throughout.

Non-Fiction

When I’m not sharing my fiction, you’ll instead get a disparate collection of what can loosely be called my non-fiction. Historical ranting, media analysis, discussion of the writing craft, all of it comes under this heading. In particular, I share my love of and familiarity with the early modern period in all its forms, as well as what I’ve learnt from my own writing.

Other Projects

When I’m not writing short stories, I’m writing novels set in the same world. Currently I’m editing a political intrigue novel that I hope to soon begin querying.

Where to Start?

I’ll always recommend starting with what’s newest, as I’m constantly improving as a writer. Go to my homepage, click whatever comes up, I’m sure you’ll have a great time with it.

I hope you stick around here at Clarke’s Corner and I’m sure you’ll have a great time.
