Rental Agreement [Número do Contrato: 3522231980] - URGENT
I have received your invoice and noted that you only have photos from the return inspection (Check-in), but NO photos from the pick-up inspection (Check-out) proving the bathroom roof window was intact when I collected the vehicle.
As a consumer, I cannot be held responsible for a damage that your company cannot prove occurred during my rental period. Without a documented baseline (pick-up photos), it is impossible to determine if this was a pre-existing issue or a maintenance failure prior to my rental.
Furthermore, the return inspection was conducted unilaterally without my presence, denying me the right to verify the vehicle's condition at the exact moment of drop-off.
Given the complete lack of evidence from the pick-up day, I strictly refuse to pay this invoice and request its immediate cancellation. I have already instructed my bank to block any automated charges from Roadsurfer regarding this matter.
I rented a motorhome from Roadsurfer Milan, and the company didn't take photos at pickup; now they are charging me for a skylight based on an inspection they performed on their own upon return.

My name is Rafaela Ottone de Pinho
My name is Rafaela Ottone de Pinho, and I am submitting this formal complaint regarding my extremely disappointing experience with Roadsurfer in the United States\.
I rented a motorhome from Roadsurfer, collected in Salt Lake City, Utah, and returned it in Las Vegas, Nevada, on September 21, 2026\.
From the very first day of the rental, I noticed damage to the motorhome’s exterior bodywork\. These damages were already present when I collected the vehicle\. I documented the condition of the motorhome with photographs and videos and have already provided this evidence to Roadsurfer to demonstrate that the damage was pre\-existing and did not occur during my rental period\.
Despite the evidence I submitted, Roadsurfer has continued to dispute my claim, and I am extremely dissatisfied with the way this matter has been handled\.
The company is withholding my **US$1,600 security deposit**, and I am also disputing a **US$3,065 damage charge** associated with this incident\. I have made several attempts to resolve this matter directly with the company and have sent follow\-up emails requesting a response\. However, I have not received the satisfactory resolution or communication that a customer should reasonably expect\.
I find it unacceptable that a customer should have to bear financial responsibility for damage that was already present before the rental began, particularly when photographic and video evidence has been provided\.
I am requesting the following:
1. An immediate review of all the photographs and videos I submitted\.
2. A detailed written explanation and supporting evidence for the disputed damage charges\.
3. The immediate release and refund of my US$1,600 security deposit\.
4. The cancellation and reversal of any damage charges that cannot be substantiated by reliable evidence\.
5. A formal written response from Roadsurfer addressing this complaint\.
I chose Roadsurfer expecting a professional and trustworthy rental service\. Unfortunately, this experience has caused me considerable frustration and concern regarding the company’s customer service and handling of customer deposits and damage claims\.
If this matter is not resolved promptly and fairly, I reserve the right to pursue the appropriate legal remedies and consumer protection channels available to me\.
I have retained the relevant documentation, including photographs, videos, and email correspondence, to support my complaint\.
**I expect Roadsurfer to take this complaint seriously, review the evidence objectively, and resolve this matter without further unnecessary delay\.**
Sincerely,
**Rafaela Ottone de Pinho**
Road Surfer Gave Us A Van With A Bad Tire
We rented road surfer for a 28 day trip in Europe. One day, my partner was driving -and our tire burst. We pulled over to the side of the highway and called the number for road surfer assistance. After a long conversation with the representative on the phone, he said he was going to send out a tow truck. The tow never came. The police and highway patrol came and told us it was too dangerous to be on the side of the highway and we needed to get towed. We let them know we had a tow on the way. They asked us how long. We called the assistance number and the same guy picked up the phone. He said the tow was coming but he didn’t know how long and didn’t have any information to give us. We relayed that message to the police. The police said they had to call their tow truck to get us off the road.
We spent €370 on a tow and €60 to get the tire fixed. The tire shop guy said the tire burst due to a defective tire and not because of anything we did on our end. The tire was basically retreaded. So that means road surfer took a completely bald tire and retreaded it to cut cost. The mechanic said the tire would eventually burst no matter who was driving it.
We requested reimbursement from road surfer for the tow and the tire replacement since the tire burst was not our fault. After months and months of back and forth they declined our request for reimbursement. They said they did an investigation but when we asked for the investigation paperwork they declined to give it to us.
After renting the van for a whole month you would think they would value customers who support their business, but they do not. They are malicious, greedy, and deceitful. PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. They don’t care about you. We were put in a very dangerous situation with two small kids in our van. They had no care in the world.
Amazing staff
Amazing staff! Felt welcomed the moment we got there. They went through everything in detail and was very efficient getting us out on the road as quick as possible. Vehicle was spotless. Ran smoothly and fairly quiet on the highways unlike many other RVs I rented from different companies. I will definitely be renting from them again!
We rented a camper in Amsterdam from roadsurfter
We rented a camper in Amsterdam. A much nicer camper than indie campers in many ways, but the same issues with communication. Read the other reviews and it pretty much sums up our experience. Lucky for us everything worked in the van, but there is almost no way to get in touch with a human. If you need quick assistance tell them you broke down or had an accident. This was the only way we were able to notify them that we were going to be a day late returning. We were charged 100 for bedding which was so crappy we had them take if off the bill and did not take it with us. We went to Ikea and got our own for less than half the cost and twice the quality. So far NO LUCK in getting the charge reversed. Lea the AI assistant keeps telling us it has been "escalated" but no dice so far. It's a shame because overall they are FAR better than indie camper but they shoot themselves in the foot with their terrible customer service. It's easy to speak with a human when you are renting. The problems come in when you have picked up the van. We rented the large camper castle and it was a nice van. The bed comes down from the ceiling and that makes it a breeze to tuck it away the next morning. The unit had roof AC which indie campers did not, at least not last year. the layout was great and the storage was more than we needed. No complaints there. TAKE DETAILED pictures of every single scratch or dent, because if you scratch the van they will charge you for it if it is above so many millimeters. Also, as far as insurance goes.... Just note that campervan insurance does not generally cover damage to the awning, the top of the van, or the undercarriage. All these are OF COURSE what you need it for. Read the policy closely. Also credit card insurance does not cover rv rentals in general. Even without taking the insurances you do have some general insurance but I am not sure what the level is. Final thought, Make sure you test and understand how to work EVERYTHING. Don't let them rush you. Happy trails..
Overall good experience in Toulouse
Overall, we had a good experience with Roadsurfer. This was our second time renting a campervan with you, and although we enjoyed our trip, we feel there could be a little more attention to detail and care regarding the condition of the vans. We noticed some dirt, a broken shelf, and a few other minor issues that could have been addressed before handover.
On the positive side, the staff member who assisted us with both pick-up and drop-off was absolutely fantastic. He was extremely helpful, friendly, and understanding, especially as we were running late on both occasions. His professionalism and kindness made the whole experience much smoother.
We would be happy to rent with Roadsurfer again, but we believe that a little more care and pride in the maintenance and cleanliness of the vans would make the overall experience even better.
Roadsurfer confirmed reimbursement in writing – 11 weeks later, still no payment
During our campervan rental in July 2026, we experienced three vehicle breakdowns that resulted in additional expenses for taxi transportation, hotel accommodation and repairs.
Roadsurfer explicitly confirmed in writing on 13 July that the taxi and hotel expenses would be covered. On 16 July, they also confirmed that their Damage Team had approved the repair costs.
Following their instructions, I submitted the reimbursement claim through their Claims Portal on 27 July.
Now, 11 weeks later, I have still not received any reimbursement.
Despite repeated follow-ups, Roadsurfer has been unable to provide a meaningful status update or any indication of when the reimbursement will be processed.
Their Customer Support team repeatedly explains that the Claims Department operates independently, that they have no access to the review process and that they cannot influence the timeline. Customers are apparently unable to contact the department responsible for their claims directly.
Even after explicitly requesting an escalation and a concrete timeframe, I received another generic response assuring me that the matter was being prioritized "as much as possible", but without any actual commitment.
What makes this particularly frustrating is that Roadsurfer already confirmed in writing that these expenses would be covered. This is not simply a case of waiting for an initial decision on whether compensation is justified.
I fully understand that reimbursement claims require documentation and administrative processing. However, 11 weeks without payment, a meaningful explanation or even an estimated timeline is simply unacceptable.
Roadsurfer's internal organization should not become the customer's problem.
The breakdowns was unfortunate, but the subsequent handling of the reimbursement has been even more disappointing.
I am still hoping that Roadsurfer will honor its written commitments and resolve this matter promptly. Until then, I cannot recommend their handling of customer claims.
The best
We had the greatest experience with renting from LA station! Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The whole process of pickup and drop-off was smooth and efficient. Vehicles are clean, well maintain and ready for the adventure! Highly recommended!
Easy booking for a unique astronomy stay
We used roadsurfer to book our stay and astronomy spot at Hohe Geba in Germany, and the whole process was very easy and clear. The booking confirmation contained the most important information, including directions, location details and practical instructions for the stay.
What we especially appreciated was that the reservation gave us access to a very unusual place — a dedicated astronomy area with observation platforms and dark-sky infrastructure.
Everything worked as expected and the booking was confirmed without problems. For this type of special-interest trip, roadsurfer was a very useful and convenient platform.
We would gladly use it again.
My hotel room right outside my grandkids house.
When visiting my four grandchildren, sleeping on a mattress placed on the living room floor is not an option for me at 65 years old. Staying at a hotel creates planned visits. Having a beautiful RV parked outside their front door meant having my own space that the kids could visit and hang out anytime. Two thumbs up!
Everything was easy starting with my first direct interaction with the staff and throughout my adventure.
Very disappointing experience
Very disappointing experience – Poor customer service and €1,000 return charge
Unfortunately, my experience with Roadsurfer was extremely disappointing. What was supposed to be an enjoyable holiday turned into a stressful experience because of multiple campervan issues and almost nonexistent customer support.
1. Poor vehicle handover in Munich: When collecting the campervan, I explained that it was my first time using a campervan and asked for someone to explain the basic functions and equipment. The staff member was rude and simply directed me to the online instructions without providing a proper explanation.
2. Faulty equipment: On the first day, the stove did not work properly. We had to keep pressing the control to maintain the flame, and it went out as soon as we released it. We also experienced problems with the toilet and water pump. The water pump eventually stopped working completely, leaving us without a functioning water supply.
3. Almost impossible to reach support: I repeatedly tried calling Roadsurfer and using their AI chat system, but I could not get a human representative to help. I eventually found a Roadsurfer branch near Achensee, where an employee named Federico was very helpful and spent around 30 minutes fixing the stove. He was one positive exception to an otherwise very disappointing support experience.
4. Terrible return experience and €1,000 charge: On 26 September, my scheduled return time was 17:00, but I arrived at approximately 18:00. Nobody was present at the return location to receive the vehicle. I tried calling and chatting with Roadsurfer, but nobody responded. I waited for more than two hours and eventually had to call the police for guidance. The police instructed me to leave the vehicle in the designated parking area and put the key in the return box, but no key box was available. I followed their instructions and left the vehicle safely at the location.
On 28 September, I received an invoice for approximately €1,000 for a delay of more than eight hours. I fully acknowledge arriving one hour late, but I strongly dispute being charged for the additional delay when I was at the return location, unable to hand over the vehicle because no staff member was available and no return box was provided.
I submitted complaints and tried repeatedly to contact customer support, but I did not receive a satisfactory response.
My biggest disappointment is not just the technical problems, but the complete lack of human support when it was needed most. Customers should not have to spend their holiday troubleshooting essential equipment, wait hours to return a vehicle, call the police for instructions, and then face a €1,000 charge without anyone first investigating what happened.
I would strongly encourage Roadsurfer to improve its vehicle handover process, technical support, return procedures, and complaint handling. Based on my personal experience, I cannot recommend Roadsurfer, and I would think twice before renting from them again.
Wonderful trip to Norway ending with a very disappointing Return, with a very large cleaning fee that I felt was very undeserved and no way to dispute!!
I rented a California beach camper van in Stockholm from Roadsurfer. I spent 27 days touring northern Norway northern parts of Sweden and Finland. It was amazing.! My only real problem was that the bed was quite cold due to the air coming up from the bottom of the van, after buying an insulated pad, which did not help. I moved the upper bunk pad down to the lower bed. I am a 76 year-old woman traveling alone. What helped even more was when I bought a commercially cured reindeer hide to give further insulation. I thoroughly cleaned the van before delivering it. When I returned the van, I asked the young gentleman if he could help me get the foam pad back up on the other level, he told me not to worry about it he would do it. When I asked about throwing away the tape that I had used to get the extra hair from not only my waist length hair but also from some of the hair from the reindeer, he said not to worry about it he would take care of throwing the tape away! Before leaving, I asked him several times if I couldn’t help move the pad back into the upper bunk he insisted no! Thinking everything was fine. I left. Two days later I get a bill for $430 cleaning fee.. with pictures, showing the pad still in the lower bunk and the tape where I cleaned up my hair and the reindeer!!! After stressing about the additional expense and being threatened with legal action, I paid the $430. After such a wonderful trip to have it, and with no way to dispute or even ask for some kind of a reduction in the fee, as I did not have a pet, and I had left the camper van itself very clean. It really put a disappointing end on my wonderful trip.
Great Experience
Rental was on time, nice people, great service, got everything we needed and more, Van was clean.
Every thing engine management light on…
Every thing engine management light on all the oil light on phone all the time no help what so ever payed foroil change so we could continue with the holiday still waiting for refund i would not recommend this to enyone every time they come up they will have a bard review
Great experience
The motorhome we rented was clean, everything functioned as it should. The staff in Salt Lake city was friendly, and familiar with the equipment, and showed us how to operate it.
The unlimited mileage you get with the rental is the main reason we went with Roadsurfer this time.
I have rented from other places and always had something that was broken and not repaired yet.
Roadsurfer obviously fixes things before sending the vehicle out. I appreciate that.

I have been very surprised after…
I have been very surprised after viewing several negative comments on the internet and found out that the team is excellent. I have to point out the excellent job of Jessie from the Miami team and Russel from the Phoenix team.

DO NOT RENT FROM THEM!!!!
This place should 100% be out of business!!! I have NEVER in my life had this bad of "customer service" if you can even call it that! i REALLY THINK THEY SHOULD BE FORCED TO CLOSE.
Unauthorized Vehicle Swap: The day before our departure, Roadsurfer changed our reserved "Couple Condo" to a "Liberty Lodge" without our permission or consent. Because this notice was given at the last minute, I had absolutely no time to find alternative arrangements or cancel. We were forced to accept a vehicle we were entirely uncomfortable using.
Active Rodents: The camper had mice. We had to sleep in a vehicle with active pests, and I have documented extensive evidence of mouse droppings left inside the camper’s drawers. This is a severe health and safety hazard.
Total Electrical Failure & Medical Impact: The electric outlets in the camper did not work. This was not just an inconvenience, but a medical risk; my husband relies on a CPAP machine, which he was completely unable to use during the duration of the trip due to the lack of power.
Unreachable Customer Service: When the electrical issues occurred, we repeatedly attempted to contact Roadsurfer customer service for assistance, but we were completely unable to get through.
Inadequate Amenities: We specifically selected and paid for the "Couple Condo" because of its layout and bathroom configuration. The bathroom closet and shower in the Liberty Lodge were far too small for us to use. This forced us to seek out public showers—the exact scenario we paid extra to avoid—causing severe emotional stress throughout our vacation.
Very disappointing experience
Very disappointing experience from start to finish.
We received a camper with several existing issues at pickup. Some were not disclosed to us at all, while others were shown to the pickup team and presented as being “normal.” We even had to ask for certain problems to be fixed before leaving.
During the trip, we also had to deal with a defective external power socket cover that would not stay closed. There were clear signs that it had already been taped before, and I had to make a temporary repair myself.
The return process was also frustrating, including difficulty finding the correct return location.
After the rental, Roadsurfer listed several items as new damage. We disputed all of them and sent photos and videos showing that these issues were already present before or at pickup.
Instead of properly addressing our complaint first, we later received an invoice for €175 for damage we dispute and did not cause.
We have rented campervans from other companies before and never had this kind of experience. The combination of undisclosed defects, poor handover, return difficulties, and being charged despite submitting evidence made this a very negative experience.
I would strongly recommend documenting absolutely everything at pickup, including every small defect, even if staff tell you it is normal.

Great Holiday with Roadsurfer Van
We had a great holiday with one of Roadsurfers Van.
The van was in good condition and the return process was handled smoothly and fast, thus receiving my deposit 20 minutes after dropping the car.
I have to say we have been very careful with the car and it was not the first time we have rented such a van, therefore a bit of experience helped.
I believe if one is careful and takes care of it, will not have issues at the end.
